Love the Meters........!!!!!! You mentioned a box set. I cant seem to find it anywhere. Can you help. What is the name of it.???Thanks. Love your instructions. Keep it up!!!!
@tsquar3d Your dad has inspired me more than any other funk player in history. Thank you for giving a nod to Marty. He is an amazing teacher and a great player as well
For all you funksters out there, there is a great instructional book (with CD) called "New Orleans Funk Guitar, The Guitar Styles of New Orleans Funk, Cajun and Zydeco Greats" by Shane Theriot. Alfred publishing. This song is transcribed in the book as well as other Leo Nocentelli lessons. I learned in the book that the great funk classic "Right Place, Wrong Time" by Dr John was recorded with the Meters. Oh, and I once met Leo backstage at one of his solo gigs at the Wetlands club in NYC.
Is your tuning half step down? I'm playing the exact same frets as you, and it doesn't sound the same.... Yet I'm sure my uitar is properly tuned in E Standard...
Nice effort man. But please stick to a tempo when you're explaining a lick. Makes me furious... also you might cut back on the super slow note by note stuff and have some more mediumtempo runtroughs, yours are a bit to fast for my taste.
cheers dude - wicked - and discovered cissy strut a tune i have wanted to know the name of for years - simple riffs but sooo hard to play with the right vibe - for me any way!
hey man thanks a lot for this. came in really handy. been playing guitar for a long time and recently got into funk but had no idea how to play funk. thanks for my first step in the right direction.
Best funk lesson I've seen, thanks for spreading the Nocentelli love, most underrated guitarist of all time.

He's in standard, but he is out of tune. A little bit flat, probably why it sounds a half step down to you
