I love this entry because the Santa Claus convention perfectly summarizes the anomalous, surprising aspects that art often provides. Its the odd thing/happening/comment/whatever that breaks up the monotony of life.In a similar vein,I think the strength of work such a Gallo's likewise lies in that anomaly-zone.The abjectness works only if one considers the context within which it is present/encountered.They purposefully contrast with the pristine white walls, break up the monotony of the space.
As the artist described his environment as barren, that certainly is reflected in this work, but also, the work seems barren of emotion and content, at least for me. I find your use of the word "abject" in your description ironic. Keep up the good work. I enjoy your videos.
ab·ject/ˈabˌjekt/
Adjective:
(of a situation or condition) Extremely bad, unpleasant, and degrading.
(of an unhappy state of mind) Experienced to the maximum degree.
Peter's work has merit, but I am not moved by it..I guess in an effort to create works that feel and look like a naive artist creating work out of a passionate vacuum one forgets that the work must have appeal...sadly this exhibition does not.
What's with the dude with the old Soviet Union Sweat Shirt (CCCP w/ Hammer & Sickle) Are the Russians coming again?

I wish you would go to the studio of Loren Munk. Peter Gallo's work is complete SHITE! Munk's work is infinitely better.
