  • First time black and white man works perfectly together!! xD

  • how do you leve Deric Trucks off the tital ?

  • Classic clapton, always put's on a good show, U know what U are going to get with him, a fcking sweet deal, people expect to much of him, the thing that made him so popular was, he was one of the first guys to get that nice rock tone, the sweet thick tone that makes me cream every time he plays the guitar, could listen to him for hours, it is like a never ending array of bliss

  • Put Derek Trucks in the title too!

  • I saw Clapton at CSUN in the 70s. It wasn't as good as this! LOL

  • @OrchidTigress1 I have also seen him live 2 times, people expect to much of him, he is famouse for getting that nice overdrive rock tone before anybody else, and he made it sound sweeter than anybody else, simple is sometimes better, in fact it is 9 times outta 10 better, clapton made simple riffs sound amazing, layla is a classic, he adds his flavor 2 it, people try to emulate it, but they never seem to get it like him, he is a rock legend, people can say what they like, he is laffing not them

  • nice!

  • its funny how some people play loud tune's when they drive by,they don't know what real music is.that stuff they play is cancer to all ( perverted and stolen ).

  • All I can say is. WOW! Love the guitar jam at the end of the song.

  • Joey, real music is how some people express themselves when words aren't enough. To equate what we mean by putting your "soul" into music to some religion shows you don't (or refuse to) know. Play the same notes that Clapton or Windwood play without the soul or the emotion, the magic, the whatever it is, and it's just a technical exercise. People might say, "He sure can play that guitar." But they wouldn't be moved because it would be empty.

  • I saw them last night at Budokan, Tokyo.

This song was the opening number.

This video reminds me the wonderful concert.

    They are really great.

I will see them again next week.

  • Steve Winwood is the most underrated musicain/singer of his generation

  • @joeybonesgnarly It is a concept that means to put your feelings into your music. That's why you can listen to this music and be able to tell how the artist was feeling when they created the song. Most artists don't understand that nowadays and that is why more and more people are starting to listen to this music again.

  • @paulbattin you cannot literally insert feelings into a song. For all you know he just acts like he's emotional and really just puts on a show. If I was to go back in time, look exactly like Clapton, and play exactly what he played acting exactly how he did then I would get the same reaction from the audience. You might feel that you can relate to them because the song is written well and appeals to you, that's actually the goal of most artists.

  • When "Cream" broke up ,the next band that Clapton was in was "Blind Faith". They only made one album called "Blind Faith"...but it was a classic.

  • The song has one of the finest guitar duets ever performed. In the original in comes in twice with them switching the lead back & forth in the second - sounds like it must have been made especially for headphones. This performance is good but check out the Madison Square Garden DVD for a better version.

  • Simply as good as it gets! And I love the comment about Ginger Baker!

  • Eric's still got it!

  • @WhatWentWrong22441 when your as good as he is you never lose it my firend :)

  • Props to StevenJordan

  • What I want to know, why the fuck are all these session artist up with Clapton and Wnwood? Fly in Ginger from fucking South Africa and get a bassist and perform it like its original form. This version reminds me of some rock opera shit. Disappointing.

  • @TheRobnificent I agree with you on all the tracks from this concert on YouTube. I saw EC back in the 80s and he seemed a lot more "raw". This seems overproduced (for my taste). YMMV.

  • @TheRobnificent Doyle Bramhall, Oteil Burbridge or Derek Trucks cannot, by any stretch of the imagination, be considered "session' musicians". A ludicrous idea. It probably seems overproduced because live sound recording and production have advanced greatly in in the last 25 years.

  • Wow!

  • can the uploader of the video give credit to Steve Jordan!

  • Wow! That is the best phrasing I've heard from Clapton since the old days.

  • has anybody seen any bass tabs for this? what I've found have just been the intro. this song is my favourite.

  • Fantastic! From the looks on their faces at the end I think Clapton and Winwood even impressed themselves. heh

  • 2 drummers had to work their butts off to = 1 ginger baker

  • @mrmott44 Ginger is great, i don't think there is any doubt about that, but i think they were trying to create a richer sound, hence extra guitarests, I like the original version as well as this, really great work by these guys after all these years, i had the album when it was released, hot stuff in it's day and still is...

  • 10 persons Had to Cry Today .

  • How could anybody possibly "dislike" this song?!?

  • you know....i bought this dvd in a shop in Perth for a £1....wowowowowowowow

  • Steve Jordan sucks on drums.''

Moon, Bonham, Baker would blow him off the stage.

  • @chihawks2010 Yeah, that's why everyone from Clapton to Keith Richards to John Mayer has hired him.

  • JOE T-WHERE ARE YOU-WE NEED YOU UP THERE-WHEN IT COMES TO ANY OF CLAPTONS MUSIC-YOU SHOULD BE PLAYING IT NOW,NOT HIM.

YOU PLAY LIKE HE DID IN THE 60'S.

YOU ARE THE BEST PLAYER I HAVE HEARD IN MANY YEARS.

  • What can you say about these two?

Not everyones taste but fucking great if you love guitar!!

  • I'm so excited with this version

  • Old guys make awesome music.

  • Wow, after watching this video and the Blind Faith in Hyde park London that Eric and Steven performing together and currently reading Clapton's biography that it seems like that I am living in the past... lol... wow, what a moment. I wish i was there.

  • Thunderous! I remember when the BF album came out, we just wore it out. Winwood is an enigma of sorts among the greats of the 60s in that we have never heard details of his marriage or any substance abuse rumors, etc. I think he's a pure musician without much of any 'public image' and I'm sure he likes it that way. He made a lot of money on his 80s hits and now he makes music for himself without the pressure to have another hit single. God bless him, he is one of a kind.

  • Love this from way back! What about Stevies Strat? How fuckin cool is that ? The playing and the the colour ! ... Surf Green?

  • relax. if they are lucky, youngsters will rediscover john mayall, the stones, allman brothers band and clapton and then trace it back and inspire a new post apocolyptic generation.

or alien egg masters from alaska, in a generational revolution, will be getting off on it after our demise to arlo's alice's restaurant massacre.

yes, you can still get anything you want at alice's restaurant, 'cepting aliens.

don't matter. we enjoyed one of the greatest universal roadside attractions ever.

  • @journey46 some have discovered the old greats, im 17 and i was brought up on great music such as eric clapton, and i show all my friends the greats i got aloada my mates into jimi hendrix, blues has died down among younger folk but it isnt deaad yet !! :D

  • flash back sweeeet

  • Blind Faith was one of the best bands ever and they only made one album!

  • Have they bumped fenders before?

  • 2 drummers and Baker still sounds better.

  • This is one of the greatest guitars songs ever!

  • it does not get any better then that

  • If this doesn't make you feel excited then you may be dead. From Steve's voice to the guitar then the drums, simply amazing.

  • I feel really empowered by this!!!

  • This was just one of those times when the band just clicked. It happened a lot back in the early 70's with Delaney and Bonnie and Leon Russel and Dave Mason and Joe Cocker when everyone just jammed on each others records.

Steve Winwood is amazing for his guitar and vocals.

Lot of people baggin on EC lately but he's nearly just like everybody else, he has his bad days and his god days.....LOL

  • lol derek trucks

  • weird... this video (real music) has 440,000 views but any person even he has no voice, if he covers lady gaga with guitar.. it is being +1million views... where is the fair world?

  • netipus & ogenmatic, ya both just took the words right outta my mouth, or picked my brain...just looked at Winwood and said wow, since he was 15, right? And then I thought, damn that drummer's goooood!! great minds think alike

  • Is the drummer steve jordan?

  • @magnum9987 yes. and the other drummer is ian thomas

  • aren't we the lucky ones !!! great stuff !!!

  • At 4:20 I get the big chill

  • @timsricochet lol 4/20

  • @7RogerDI7 dude lay off the weed

  • This is absolutely fantastic, and brilliant drumming, but there's only one Ginger Baker and he's a fucking drum god!

  • It doesn't get any better than this!

  • A voice that always sends shivers up my spine. And dueling Stratocasters! I'm gonna cry today.

  • sweeeeeeeeeettttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I hope you all like this one! Your trip down memory lane!

  • I wish more people of my age listened to Clapton I'm 18 and I only know about a handful that do. I truthfully think that he is one of the best guitarists to listen to along with Stevie Ray Vaughn, Steve Vai ,Joe Satriani, Jeff Beck and Joe Petrucci just to name a few.

  • Steve's voice is still the same! Amazing!

  • These so called " bands " of the last 20 or so years couldnt be a guitar tuner for these rock superstars.

  • wow period

  • Isn't that Derek Trucks in there and Robert Cray?

  • Do you mean Ian Thomas?

  • Just to be picky...It's actually Ian Thomas - a great Welsh session drummer from London.

  • EC&SW school everyone in how two guitars can play lead at the same time and not step on each other. Doyle Bramhall & Derek Trucks share a smile as if to say, "Can you believe we are here, doing this?"

Clapton's smile at the end to Steve and their hug shows the love and appreciation that only a long time friendship elicits. These guys are the real deal.

    Listen!!!!!!!!!!

  • Absolutely played from the heart and that is why it stands the test of time. The players may have aged, but their chops and emotional input into the music has only gotten better over the years, like a fine wine.

This is what the majority of the new music today is lacking, emotion and SOUL, either you have it or you don't. It's not something you can learn. It's got to come from the fire inside that totally consumes you.

  • This song leaves me wanting. New music today has a different feeling to it. In the old days, music was something where you could tell the musicians were getting lost in their emotions, whether it be anger, misery, or anything else. the music reflected the feelings. Nowadays the music (even blues) is in your face and doesent really have any feeling to it other than cockyness. While this is good sometimes i just wish there was some more emotional music like this coming out.

  • @crazonianmaster

    amen bro

  • @crazonianmaster You're right, of course. Music companies and their producers' aim for some pseudo-perfection has killed the feel and passion in music. Kate Bush made this clear when denying the perception of her as a perfectionist... Great music should emote and it can only do this if the artist can play without fear. When the artist can get lost in the music and, in playing it, can impart the very emotion that the piece generates in them.

  • @crazonianmaster james blake, your life is now enlightened

  • @crazonianmaster I agree.. a lot of the music today, not all, is 'self glorification' and show.. autotune instead of authentic voice and computer sounds....repetitive lyrics. Musicial instruments are vanishing. not good. You're right, not much emotion or expression to inspire the listener. Like I said Not all, but much of it is, sad to say.

  • @crazonianmaster so true please join my channel and we can really bring meaningful music back once again.

  • @crazonianmaster

So, you're ignoring the fact that this is a song that is 40+ years old, being performed by the two who created it? So hard to google a song and find out about it...so hard...so hard

  • @thebuzzardman what are you trying to say. YOUR COMMENT, IT CONFUSES AND INFURIATES ME!!!!!

  • saw them together twice...simply amazing

  • Is that steve jordan on Drums?

  • 2:22 even in his sixties, clapton can still rip a solo out that guitarists half his age couldnt handle as well technically or emotionally. rock on slowhand.

  • the whole complilation is excellent.

  • those are the real original lords of the swing... i never hear a better 2 guitar attack like this one... this is really creative... i'm ready to pray for this new religion...

About the 2 guitar's bands I don't even think that Fleetwood mac in 69 and 72 and Wishbone Ash in 72 were better... it's hard to be better than here...it's just unreachable...

  • Amazing song. Windwood still has it.

  • ageless theywill always rock classic

  • damn, i wanna see these guys in concert!

  • What the eff is there to dislike about this? Really....some of the best of the best up there in this band on every instrument.

  • clapton's guitar and windwood's voice combines into magic

  • What a wonderful version, after 30 years! Amazing

  • i wish i wuz there!!!

  • 8 people had to cry today

  • yeah that's Fender style ;D

  • That is Todd Rundgren on the right playing keyboards . What a band kids.

  • @MrTonkacat The keyboardist you think is Todd is Chris Stainton, been playing with Clapton for a long time...I can see the resemblance, and that would certainly been an interesting combo if it actually was. :)

  • FANTASTIC!!! Steve really gives Eric a run for his money on this!!!

  • i had to cry today

  • 4 guitars and 2 drum-sets... wth?!

  • a real Powerteam ..wow

  • Incredible, you could just feel the magic happening on the stage. Not bad for 2 guys that havnt played together in 25 years. Now I want to cry today, after watching how good these guys are. Clapton has always held Winwood in high regard. A lot of interesting stuff about Blind Faith in Claptons book. I read it 3 times.

  • blind faith could've been better than cream, such a shame.

  • Surprisely, there are at least 8 morons in this world...

  • They are fantastic!!

  • wow

  • the drummer looks like the janitor from scrubs

  • blew my foreskin off

  • Fantastic ! Winwood's still sounds great.

  • no reason Ginger shouldn't be here..

  • @talpajam He was on holiday in East Timor.

  • so insanely amazing..clapton is god, winwood is god too haha.

  • ERIC THE KING! GREAT ! GREETING FROM SERBIA!

  • q tal leccion de guitarra..grandisimos hombres del rock and roll....blind faith

  • it sounds even better now . good job keeping it going.

  • @oqenmatic yea no kidding eh? Ginger Baker modern age!!!

  • Pure class!

  • check out joe bonamassa's remake of this

  • Makes you wonder what if. What if all the BS that screwed up Blind Faith hadn't happened? Would they have been allowed to grow more organically or would they still have broken up? They were a great band and Winwood and Clapton were the glue.

  • Pay attention all young rockers. This is how it's done.

  • I must check those who disliked them. Maybe gave faves for the Jonas Bros.

  • I was Googling and iTuning leads by the under-rated Stevie Winwood - came across this and my mouth's open catching flies. Love the way he and Eric "sing" together; reminds me of the greats who did e.g. Mick Fleetwood/Peter Green, so few others.

    (3 minutes later): Still open..

  • I really wish I could have seen them live

  • as good as it can get

  • is that Doyle Bramhall Jr on the Les Paul ?

  • @jte1974 yup.

  • M-fin' Grrrrrt Song & Performance

  • i have this show recorded on sky plus and will never delete it

  • The guitar should be great--Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton and Derek Truck together wow

  • Beyond the obvious great string work, isn't the drumming outstanding on this piece?

  • @ogenmatic absolutely. Steve Jordan is the man. Good call

  • @ogenmatic Yes it is, not the easiest song to drum to!

  • @ogenmatic

Yes it is... the two of them, gifted players both, managed to recreate. together, what Ginger Baker did by himself.

  • @ogenmatic absolutely! ... make sure to watch "crossroads" too, same set, imho the drumming really lifts what is a great performance to begin with, to a higher level altogether.

  • @ogenmatic there's 2 drummers, which probably helps

  • @ogenmatic couldnt be any less...the great steve jordan is on the left kit!!!

  • @ogenmatic two drummers have to do Ginger Baker 's original job..

  • @ogenmatic Of course, because Steve Jordan is a god.

  • @ogenmatic Yeah thats Steve Jordan. Session master..

  • Saw this song live a couple of months ago and it ROCKED!

  • About 40 years after the original recording. Wow!

  • Shame they only did one album....always more a fan of eric when he's in a group, it seems to bring the best in him.

  • @PhunkyPhil72 I think the same

  • Incredible how Winwood's voice just doesn't age.

  • @netipus his voice was even the same when he started in the spencer davies group when he had an age of 16

  • @netipus Yes, its the same key also as the original....

  • @netipus i agree! in fact to me he sounds BETTER here than he did at Hyde Park in `69!

  • Who are the drummers here? This is a challenging song to play (IMO) and it's always difficult to follow Ginger Baker!

  • @Vortigern99 Steve Jordan and Chris Layton from double trouble.

  • @jahmerican876 Ah, my fellow Austinite Layton! Thx!

  • @jahmerican876 actually the drummers are steve jordan and ian thomas the same guy who plays in the msg cd

  • @SweetPapaFer You are correct, he surely does look like Layton but it is in fact Ian Thomas. Thx

  • Blind Faith really wrote some great songs on their one album, great post.

  • derek looks at ol boy on his left like i told ya

Amazing song, one of the first riffs i learned on guitar. It still blows my mind when people say that they are surprised that as they get older musicians still play well. They play better period. I have always thought being able to play music was something that you earned over a lifetime and these guys are the peak of that. Clapton is my favorite guitarist ever.

  • i like the song instrumental wise but i can't understand steve

  • Eric Clapton still the king when he playing!

  • @Borderline1979

in this video steve is better than the king, boring.

  • more camera from behind showing both drummers in action would have been a treat...

  • Was reading about Steve Winwood today in a Guitar mag. Glad I did. It's cliche but these guys really do rock.

  • Is an amazing song and seeing them together is awesome. But dying happy just because I'd seen this would meen I'd had a pretty boring life.

  • had to cry today

  • Blind faith: best band Clapton ever had!! The magic lasted for a half album and the thing was gone... what a singer Steve Winwood is!!!!!

  • @swingmanu I’m not so sure you could consider “Blind Faith” as Clapton’s band. Steve Winwood is certainly on the same level, musical, as Clapton if not a cut above. The interplay of the twin lead guitars, at the end, is incredible……

  • notice they don't have to tune down so winwood can pull off his vocal? fucking amazing after 41 years. steve jordan and doyle bramhall are gods in their own right, too. fuck justin beiber and lady gaga.

  • @727tflite his vocal part is way better then the original...which I love!!!!

  • Love Steve Jordan's playing! Has the Tony Williams energy-thing goin'.... GREAT! Thanks for the post.

  • Anybody know the drummers name?

  • @whyyeseyec The black one is Steve Jordan, I don't know the other one.

  • double drums FTW!

  • can some tell me why they need that 4th guitar player (guy with the les paul)? i think 3 legends should suffice

  • @johnowensjr1234 I agree four guitars is a little excessive, but that's one of Clapton's sidemen with the Les Paul.

  • @johnowensjr1234 Doyle Bramhall II was part of the EC band then, bit of a shame to leave him out! But with Derek Trucks on slide it enables SW to swap to Hammond for parts of the concert, I suppose. Perhaps he's also on a 'pay-per-play' deal.

  • Geez, he sounds just as good as he did in the late 6
