Pit bulls are not a dog you can just buy and leave in the house or kenneled all day, like many people do. They need plenty of exercise, obedience training and love. when neglected they act out, sometimes with aggression. There not the only dog that does this they are just the most known. I have owned, fostered and shared many bully breeds, pitts, german shepherds, rotties, dobermans etc... I grew up as a child with a pitt bull mix (most gentle dog ever). And plan to add a pittbull to my life. Of all the dogs I have come across, the only one to bite me was a damn cocker spaniel! 2X. Anyways, the pittbull's time will pass and some other poor misunderstood dog with carry the media's torch of banned dogs.
However, PLEASE KNOW the breed you want....they will love you for it.
Today I saw this woman with one adult pitbull and a small puppy. the pup didn't seem to know where it was supposed to walk so it walked everywhere (behind/left/right/in front of the her). i laughed because I thought it was kind of cute. in stead of letting the little dog know where to walk en give short instructions.. she stopped, looked into those little eyes and asked if the poor thing would like to be smacked if it wouldn't behave better. THAT is the kind of person who shouldn't raise a pit.
My friend lost hi pit bull after he had him for 7 years. He was irresponsible and didn't know his own dog was irritated by small animals. His grandma's small dog playfully bit Baxter in the ear and Baxter attacked the smaller dog. His grandma had him put down the next day.

On average there are only 25 deaths a year from dogs. 12 were from pitbulls which is a very small percentage compared to how many there are. 40 people die a year from 5 gallons of water, 50 kids died because of their cribs last year. 150 people die from falling coconuts. 2000 children die a year at the hands of their parents. My german shepherds can kill just as easily as a Pitbull. It all depends on the owner. Bad parent equals bad kid.

This video made me tear up a bit. I love my pitbull babies. I've dealt with some of their persecution from people I know and love. The stereotypes amaze me. And most of the people who believe the stereotypes have never been around a pitbull or they have just been around one that wasn't trained properly. I must admit I was just like them. But then my met my diesel. I got him when he was 8 weeks old and he has been the best dog. Later i got my Deucey and all he does is cuddle with me. I love them.
I go to the local dog park all the time with my lab/hound mix, Nero, who was adopted from an animal shelter. The pit bulls are great and friendly. I've never had a problem with them.

i adore pitbulls. i went to West Virginia, White Water Rafting. in the kayak shop, they had a pitbull walkin around calmly. nobody would touch him. except me. after i knew he was safe, i was down on the floor wrestling him <3

For community service, I work with dogs to try to get them adopted. I often sit with a miniature brown red-nosed pitbull named Frankie, and while she's loved by many, there are people who look at her like she's the devil. She does have a few issues, (she thinks she's a lap dog) but she won't ever hurt anyone. I call it "doggie discrimination."
As far as I'm concerned ALL dog fighters should be made a example of by killing ALL of them in a PUBLIC execution. Pitbull fighters.......I'd like to shoot on sight. Just my opinion.

I love this breed of dogs more then I could ever explain. They're beautiful, loyal, intelligent, and smart. But people see them as aggressive, brutal, deadly, and dangerous. On average there are only 25 deaths a year from dogs. 12 were from pitbulls which is a very small percentage compared to how many there are. 40 people die a year from 5 gallons of water, 50 kids died because of their cribs last year. 150 people die from falling coconuts. 2000 children die a year at the hands of their parents. My german shepherds can kill just as easily as a Pitbull. It all depends on the owner. Bad parent equals bad kid.

Pitbull deaths are less common than deaths caused by black bears. And every instance that I have read a story about a pitbull attack I can INSTANTLY piont out how the owner could have avoided it. This video made me tear up a bit. I love my pitbull babies. I've dealt with some of their persecution from people I know and love. The stereotypes amaze me. And most of the people who believe the stereotypes have never been around a pitbull or they have just been around one that wasn't trained properly. I must admit I was just like them. But then my met my diesel. I got him when he was 8 weeks old and he has been the best dog. Later i got my Deucey and all he does is cuddle with me. I love them.

For community service, I work with dogs to try to get them adopted. I often sit with a miniature brown red-nosed pitbull named Frankie, and while she's loved by many, there are people who look at her like she's the devil. She does have a few issues, (she thinks she's a lap dog) but she won't ever hurt anyone. I call it "doggie discrimination."

@tupac0306 well its how they look a buff pittbull looks great and mabey for protective reasons but what i can't stand is people who make them buff just for dog fights

i have two pitbulls and i love them to death its not the dogs breed that makes it vicious its its owners choice of how to raise them its sad how many pitbulls get put to sleep for being vicious!

I love pit bulls :) It sucks that they have a bad reputation though. But I promise you, if you give them a chance you'll never be able to say that it wasn't a satisfying expirence
