  • @jocelyna38 why do you keep posting this? get out of here.

  • awwww she save's donna from being a whore!!!

  • @jocelyna38

an exercise in futility in that town

  • That one part with Bob is super fun.

  • I think the girl who plays Laura learned how to act (if you could call it that) by watching old silent movies. Seriously, turn the volume off and watch how she's so over the top dramatic with her facial expressions and arm flailings.

  • @jimbrown257 yeah, she is annoying me to no end and there's still more to watch........

  • @peechyq

At first I thought her acting might be because Lynch like to have weird avant-garde stuff in his movies but after a while, I realized she was just a bad actor. I think what happened was, he originally hired her for the series just to play a dead body so it didn't matter if she could act. Then she had a few scenes as Lauras identical cousin. Later, he decided to make a prequel where she was a main character and now he was stuck with a girl who really couldn't act.

  • @jimbrown257 I think you may have a point! It seems like Lynch was perhaps guilty of believing his own hype also, riding the popularity of TP thinking he could just toss this together. This isn't on a par with any of his other work imo. Still a few good moments and worth watching.

  • @chh5555

I was reading about this movie after I watched it. Apparantly, Lynch had intended to make several more movies which would go into more detail about things from this one (like the David Bowie scene) but this movie didn't do very well so he never did more.

I think the original run of TP was pretty close to perfect and it ended at just the right time. It was getting so convoluted that it finally crashed on it's own weight. It reminds me of Arrested Development actually.

  • It didn't crash... ABC kept changing the time slot ultimately settling on Friday night which is tv show suicide. That plus the fact the network forced David Lynch into revealing who killed Laura so early on resulted in it's cancellation.

  • @Pinkfairydust006 what was up with the subplots though? and all the characters that appeared out of nowhere?

  • Lynch didn't think she was a convincing actress at first, but he was impressed with how she portrayed a dead body (as odd as that sounds) and wrote the character of maddy ferguson in so she could act in the series

  • @jimbrown257 she does shake a little too much when she's doing the scared face and the wide eyes are a bit OTT- Her acting isn't the best but she fits the part well.

  • Once again David Lynch has excelled at creating a scene of hysteria in broad daylight...(as he did in the scene with David Bowie, and the scene in the parking lot of the Double R Diner...brilliant....
