@vivi125 just try to play an open E string and jam on with a minor pentatonic scale..thats the blues the feeling..when u get that u will be able to play the blues
Thanks for the review. I put TS pickups in my own Strat, and have been looking for a Tube Screamer review that suits, as I am a huge SRV fan myself.
Speaking for my own style, as a metal fan, I tend to play a little bit more "metaled-up:" version of SRV and Jimi sometimes, but I'm thinking this pedal is still a pretty essential purchase in order to re-create the semi-clean, pure tone I'm seeking.
Cool man, cool. I always wondered what pedal sounded like "little wing".
Questions: 1) does that pedal do that ? do you have any other stuff between the pedal and the ampli?
2) You say something like "it is not worth the price". I didnt hear very well what you said but.. do you recommend any other pedal instead of this one to get that "little wing" sound?
3) you said sth about clones. Does that sound have a specific name?
Another good video. I remember your very useful American and Mexican Strat comparison. Yeah, this pedal is overpriced, because there are some great sounding ODs for 1/3 it's price... Cool demo. Actually it can sound good with a solid state amp, because ss amps aren't all the same.
They were making them at Chester's Boot shop In Collinsville Oklahoma In the early 1970's before Duane Allman passed on & the earlier versions looked even more primitive like If they were made In the 1800's before the Sears catalog was.
Nice playing. I had a vintage TS-808 which I eventually got tired of and hadn't used for years. Then I read that they were fetching high prices. I ended up selling it for $400. That is the Gospel truth!
you are a brilliant blues player, I love the blues, and it is a hard genre to play, as I have found out, and having my hand problems it isn't any easier, but you have a talent, and you use it well!

@Stratosphere18 hey pal great demo , sold me anyway! trust me you didnt make a fool of yourself as you said , you play some nice blues there , i have a peavey classic 30 with jj tubes and celestion vintage 30 12" speaker , im thinking ts 808 will sound awesome through it! thanx for demo buddy!! nice one.
OCD is a great pedal. I find it to be used be in studio though rather than live. The TS 808 is MADE to be played out, not kept in the confinds of a studio. Both pedals are good in their own right, burt you'll only know if you try 'em out.
Are these pedals any good for playing metal. I play anything from beatles to metallica. My amp is Fender hot rod deluxe with a Jackson DK2M guitar with twin seymour duncan humbuckers. Also can these pedals prematurely wear the valves on the amp. Does it cause the tubes to wear out quicker? Also how would I use it, should I use it in the effects loop? I also use a standard jim dunlop wah wah and an mxr micro amp pedal. The mxr micro amp pedal is okay but not really good enough. Please help.
I would go with a more distortion pedal for Metallica tones. I have Boss DS-1 modded by Keeley Pedals and it would do the trick for you. The TS-808 and TS-9's are amazing pedals, but they are overdrive not distortion.
i find its a pedal that works well with other peadls. on its own, it wud b pretty useless to punch out a metallica riff for instance, but with other pedals, makes a pretty sweet tone for solos (an im pretty sure hammet has/or does use tube screamers). i use it more as a booster for solo personally.
Tube screamer sounds killer on a Fender SS amp clean channel bud, so I wouldn't take to heart that theory you have about distortion pedals for SS and overdrive for tube....we all know tube sounds better, BUT with my princeton chorus with the 808, you could barely tell the sound was SS...
they are almost identical, in most cases they differ by only 2 resistors that even dont alter the tone (but the vintage mojo orders you to say that 808 is better (lol)) in worst case they differ by op amp too (and that I think strikes the tone by some ammount)
im pretty pick about my distortion and I had this a while ago with my deluxe players strat made in mexico and I couldnt stand the sound of the noiseless pickups with this pedal but thats just me.. im getting a new american made soon and putting seymour duncan humbucker on the bottom so maybe I'll give it another try once that's in

anybody ever consider the Boss SD-1? its basicly an808 clone uses almost identical chip, JRC4558DD instead of JRC4558D or something like that, and costs about a hundred bucks less, i have an original one from when they were made in Japan in the early 80's, supposedely they sound a little better than the new taiwan made ones, but anyway, i've had no problems and its built like a tank, i have an 808 too, and i love both of them, but for some reason i use my boss more, idk why, but its always there

it depends on if you are using a Strat or a humbucking guitar. I have found the Blues Drive works better with Humbucking guitars like a Les Paul than 808, whereas808 works better with a SinglCo it really comes down to and what you like the sound of more, try them both at a store and then order or buy one, or both depending on how mucy $ you have, haha, i will say this, the boss SD-1 is almost identical in its construction as a TS808, and only costs about 50 bucks, just another thought for you
I don't understand this pedal. Can't you get this sound from a decent tube amp. It sounds like a pedal to make a tube amp sound like a tube amp. I'm confused. Please shed some light.
Thanks for posting. I have the ts808 and I have modded it. Now I have the option of switching out the chip on the fly. I have to look back at my notes to see what mod it is. Its great though. Now I am trying to get my hands on an Exotic BB preamp pedal.

maybe any tips on how to get the blues?
it might sound wierd.. but i know the scales and all..
but its kinda hard for me to "think" blues riffs...
i mean major and minor are easy couse u hear it all the time everywhere
but blues riffs are kinda hard to put ur mind in that area
any suggestions for improvment? :D
maybe to learn spesific songs by ear or listen to some alot of blues?
what kind?

Very interesting. I guess I'll have to hear them both side-by-side. Thanks for the reply!
