  • What is the first riff?

  • If its a reissue, its not the one SRV used. He used tube screamers made in the 80s. JRC chip or the RC. Not this one. Just wanted to set it straight.

  • What was that Riff that you played at 0:42?? Did you make that up?

  • we literally have a near identical setup, i just have a mexi strat :P

  • very nice playing :)

and the pedal sounds good :D

maybe any tips on how to get the blues?

it might sound wierd.. but i know the scales and all..

but its kinda hard for me to "think" blues riffs...

i mean major and minor are easy couse u hear it all the time everywhere

but blues riffs are kinda hard to put ur mind in that area

    any suggestions for improvment? :D

maybe to learn spesific songs by ear or listen to some alot of blues?

    what kind?

  • @vivi125 just try to play an open E string and jam on with a minor pentatonic scale..thats the blues the feeling..when u get that u will be able to play the blues

  • Playing the blues is easy, feeling the blues is hard... relax a little, you look like you're about ready to crap out a vibroverb.

  • Quentin Tarantino)

  • where is the gain?

  • wow i love the playing and the pedal

  • It seems you got boobs... hahaha

  • Thanks for the review. I put TS pickups in my own Strat, and have been looking for a Tube Screamer review that suits, as I am a huge SRV fan myself.

Speaking for my own style, as a metal fan, I tend to play a little bit more "metaled-up:" version of SRV and Jimi sometimes, but I'm thinking this pedal is still a pretty essential purchase in order to re-create the semi-clean, pure tone I'm seeking.

  • Cool man, cool. I always wondered what pedal sounded like "little wing".

Questions: 1) does that pedal do that ? do you have any other stuff between the pedal and the ampli?

    2) You say something like "it is not worth the price". I didnt hear very well what you said but.. do you recommend any other pedal instead of this one to get that "little wing" sound?

    3) you said sth about clones. Does that sound have a specific name?

    thanks.

  • does the blues junior have an "overdrive" switch?

  • @StratPlayer4Life it has a pre amp volume which is pretty much overdrive

  • ehh my heads cut off a lil bit.........but its prob for the best...

  • will do it myself. pisotones com

  • i am in love with a pedal.......

  • Awesome demo. Have u ever tried the fulltone ocd? If so, how does it compare to the ts808? Which is better or are they eqaul?

  • @InspiredProphecy they are both great. i prefer the ts808 though

  • For the price, beter get Ethos overdrive, you will not regret

  • i used to have that pedal I regret for selling...nice stuff man!

  • does anyone do anything else beside blues when they review a pedal?

  • @milkeatscereal yes.

  • @milkeatscereal Estimating very conservatively, probably thousands of users on youtube.

  • wut? no difference?

  • Another good video. I remember your very useful American and Mexican Strat comparison. Yeah, this pedal is overpriced, because there are some great sounding ODs for 1/3 it's price... Cool demo. Actually it can sound good with a solid state amp, because ss amps aren't all the same.

  • beautifull guitar...what pups its on it? thx

  • whats the chord at 1:15 ?

    sounds awesome

  • uh... uhm.... uhmm...uh uh

  • Tube Screamer is my favorite pedal of all time, i pretty much use only this pedal with delay and reverb.

i do have a lot of other pedals (satchurator, etc) but the TS simply wins above all.

  • Dude, the 1st lick or riff or wtvr that you played is so cool! At 0:44 and 4:09. Is from what music?

    And nice hybrid picking =)

  • so tube screams don't replace your amp overdrive with its own like a distortion pedal? im confused.

  • @davidure09 what it will do is add on top of any overdrive your amp has. works cool for solo boosts and crunching up the clean channel

  • What is the difference between a overdrive pedal,a fuzz pedal, & a distortion pedal?

  • @ureadmymind they sound different

  • will it sound at least ok throug a solid state?because i cant afford a tube amp

  • @nintendoor1

Yesssss, A tube tube screamer makes evertyhing sound fantastic!!!!!!!!!

It's made to emulate the sounds of a tube amp. Good luck

  • i know this video is supposed to be about the pedal but what amazed me the most was your clean sound... very nice!!!

  • if you think a "solid state" amp is an amp without tubes...you need to do your research.

  • Should of learn to play before spending money on good pedals

  • hey man, whats that riff at 4:08?

  • Do you have to have a tube amp for this pedal. Cause I love it but I have a 2x12 Crate solid state.(no money)

  • amazing tone

  • Comment removed

  • I'm sorry, but you butchered the pride and joy intro.

  • Dude, I practically have the same setup. Those Texas Specials really help with Stevie's tone too.

  • @Carrotwaffle Strange because thats not what he used

  • just bought one for £75 GBP, ($122 USD) best overdrive ever. well... i prefer the maxon but they cost more.

  • hi. what strings do you use? cool vid ;-)

  • Just got one, need some help. Tone on Full level 10'clock and gain 5'clock, The sound is wayyy too trebly.

AMP settings is : Treble 5 Bass 5(fender deluxe) Clean channel

  • turn the tone down then... problem solved.

  • in the us i always see it for around 170.

  • @EirikRayVaughan $179 with free shipping (and no sales tax) online.

  • great demonstration and great playing, probably gone get me one of those now.

p.s name of first song he played plz?

  • and second song plz?

  • its ed burn!!!

  • Where did you get this pedal??

    R.I.P. Stevie Ray Vaughan

  • pretty much every professional guitar store has got one. like guitarcenter

  • Oh yeah, and you kinda look like Derek Trucks.

  • @ToneChaser4Life

As do all other long blond-haired guitar playing men:P:)

  • DUDE what gauge strings are you using??

  • Could this ive me something close to a Duane Allman sound?

    (Using an SG with p90's)

  • great sound man!

  • I want an eric johnson type sound my amp is the Fender superchamp and i use the dyna comp will this do the job

  • Very nice. I had my TS808 modded by Analogman to make it true bypass. Are you playing a half step down?

  • They were making them at Chester's Boot shop In Collinsville Oklahoma In the early 1970's before Duane Allman passed on & the earlier versions looked even more primitive like If they were made In the 1800's before the Sears catalog was.

  • AWESOME PLAYING!!! And a great demo

  • thanks for the demo man, nice playing too.

  • Cliff Burton used it Too.

    R.I.P.

  • Nice playing. I had a vintage TS-808 which I eventually got tired of and hadn't used for years. Then I read that they were fetching high prices. I ended up selling it for $400. That is the Gospel truth!

  • "head's cutt off, maybe for the best" lol, good playin!

  • i HAVE to get one of those!

you are a brilliant blues player, I love the blues, and it is a hard genre to play, as I have found out, and having my hand problems it isn't any easier, but you have a talent, and you use it well!

  • nice job man..yeah..there not cheap!

  • @100roberthenry this isnt a spelling contest dick head, its about you thinking you build these pedals which are renound for a bEIng a high class pedal. arse hole.

  • Comment removed

  • @100roberthenry i actually think you believe your own bullshit.

  • ha ha ha lol.....google gaussmarkov and check em out then.....i think you;ll find i'm correct...you never know you might learn something and build pedals yourself..

  • @100roberthenry as i said, i actually think you believe your own bullshit.

  • remain blind and ignorant then mf

  • @100roberthenry i will and youl remain gullable to your own bullshit :)

  • checkout my channel vids then ...you'll see my pedals ......that i make for mugs like you....

p.s gullible. no a....ha ha ha......

  • yup that's a fine SRV TS demo u did . thanks! it helped me with my decision on an overdrive because u made this petal sound better that any other TS vid out there.

  • wtf you spent so much money on your equipement and you play only with down stroke ?

  • Comment removed

  • lol i only play with down strokes...

    what the problem ???

  • i would suggest using alternate picking for the intro to pride and joy. you seemed to have some trouble kickin it off, and alternate picking it sounds better.

  • is it just me, or is the ts9 just as good of a pedal, and tons cheaper?

  • It is exactly the same IMO, just for people who have money to blow.

Like the shmucks that spend the extra $100 dollars for the hand-painted version of those Fuzz Factory pedals...

  • thats what i thought dude. i played them side-by side at a guitar shop, and i actually like the sound of the ts-9 better. its crunchyer.

  • nice here it is $1150 . post it me in a box :D ahah. keep on rockin man. music is good

  • blues jr is amazing man wanna got that amp.

can i get it by shipping to turkey. it s too expensive in my region with fucking government taxs. how much in usa ?

  • $415 new but you can get them about 250 used.

  • @Stratosphere18 OMG that is hilarious. I bought one in 1989 for about $60.

Wish I'd kept it now. But like most guitarists in the 90's I kept hocking and trading stuff looking for THAT sound.

  • @Stratosphere18 where do you find them for 415 new? all i can find is 500 new

  • @waterssss zaten nedır bizim bu çektiğimiz peh..

  • @salihgenc34 sorma birader yarısı vergi her aldığımız elektroniğin

  • @waterssss YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN!! A TECHNICIAN CAN BUILD A TUBE SCREAMER (HANDMADE) PRICE: US$ 45,00. I KNOW BECAUSE MY FRIEND BUILD ONE TO ME (HERE IN BRAZIL THE TAXES IS VERY HIGH TOO!!!) SE YO MATE!!

  • @BANDACOBRACRIADA man say your technical to make me a blues jr . huh ? :D

  • sounds out of tune bro

  • very nice demo, with the right setup that pedal really shines. thanx

  • Cool!! Nice demo! I just bought my TS 808 today. I agree it's a little overpriced because my old TS-7 sounds just as good. But I don't care I love these pedals.

Great video! You demonstrate the tone well!

  • Thanks so much dcooper830. Ive been a fan of your videos for a while. Good luck with your 808.

  • @Stratosphere18 hey pal great demo , sold me anyway! trust me you didnt make a fool of yourself as you said , you play some nice blues there , i have a peavey classic 30 with jj tubes and celestion vintage 30 12" speaker , im thinking ts 808 will sound awesome through it! thanx for demo buddy!! nice one.

  • TS808 or Fulltone OCD????????

  • retro sonic 808.

  • OCD is a great pedal. I find it to be used be in studio though rather than live. The TS 808 is MADE to be played out, not kept in the confinds of a studio. Both pedals are good in their own right, burt you'll only know if you try 'em out.

  • Are these pedals any good for playing metal. I play anything from beatles to metallica. My amp is Fender hot rod deluxe with a Jackson DK2M guitar with twin seymour duncan humbuckers. Also can these pedals prematurely wear the valves on the amp. Does it cause the tubes to wear out quicker? Also how would I use it, should I use it in the effects loop? I also use a standard jim dunlop wah wah and an mxr micro amp pedal. The mxr micro amp pedal is okay but not really good enough. Please help.

  • I would go with a more distortion pedal for Metallica tones. I have Boss DS-1 modded by Keeley Pedals and it would do the trick for you. The TS-808 and TS-9's are amazing pedals, but they are overdrive not distortion.

  • metallers use these pedals on top of an already overdriven amp etc. not enough gain with this on it's own. Try Krank pedals for metal.

  • i find its a pedal that works well with other peadls. on its own, it wud b pretty useless to punch out a metallica riff for instance, but with other pedals, makes a pretty sweet tone for solos (an im pretty sure hammet has/or does use tube screamers). i use it more as a booster for solo personally.

  • Tube screamer sounds killer on a Fender SS amp clean channel bud, so I wouldn't take to heart that theory you have about distortion pedals for SS and overdrive for tube....we all know tube sounds better, BUT with my princeton chorus with the 808, you could barely tell the sound was SS...

  • how wood a blues jr sound if u cranked the pre amp vol. to wer its crunchy n put a ts on it

  • come ott8nero ;)

  • which is better? ts-808 or ts-9?

  • 808 !!

  • they are almost identical, in most cases they differ by only 2 resistors that even dont alter the tone (but the vintage mojo orders you to say that 808 is better (lol)) in worst case they differ by op amp too (and that I think strikes the tone by some ammount)

  • coolest friend you think the sound of a 2 or a fulldrive Ibanez ts808 original? I'm wanting to buy one and I'm in doubt ... a hug

  • out of tuneeee

  • great pedal, great strat, excelent amp and nice player!

  • nice video, great player and nice strat..keep rockin!

  • nice job, what are your settings on your amp?

  • nice demo, thanks for stating what you used and the setting when you would switch the knob settings.

  • hey can you do a video with the tube screamer with the champion?

  • Sure.

  • im pretty pick about my distortion and I had this a while ago with my deluxe players strat made in mexico and I couldnt stand the sound of the noiseless pickups with this pedal but thats just me.. im getting a new american made soon and putting seymour duncan humbucker on the bottom so maybe I'll give it another try once that's in

  • did you install it yet?

  • You look like a young Derek Trucks! Keep bloozin son.

  • I get that a lot. Not to much since i cut me hair. thanks dude.

  • Cool!!!

  • wich type os 60's reissue strat is it?

  • Fender American 62Ri Stratocaster w/ CS Texas Specials

  • you use the amp on clean when you have the distorted tone with the od808?

  • I have a strat and a tubescreamer. i use it through my clean channel of my fender fm212R. I think it sounds awsome, dont dis solid state amps!

  • good demo

  • Thanks

  • All OD pedals have some distinct character differences; I use three for my needs; Re-issue TS808, Fulltone Full Drive II and Keeley Modded Boss BD. With my amp and guitar set-up I get a creamy sound from my TS808, very straight forward solid OD sound from my Fulltone - does not color the sound which is great and a very transparant, almost funky OD sound from my modded Boss.

Isn't fun to hunt for the ultimate sound for your ear :-)

  • he used the ibanez tube screamer TS9 for teh second half of his career

  • anybody ever consider the Boss SD-1? its basicly an808 clone uses almost identical chip, JRC4558DD instead of JRC4558D or something like that, and costs about a hundred bucks less, i have an original one from when they were made in Japan in the early 80's, supposedely they sound a little better than the new taiwan made ones, but anyway, i've had no problems and its built like a tank, i have an 808 too, and i love both of them, but for some reason i use my boss more, idk why, but its always there

  • im sorry but boss sounds trash compared to tubescreamers

  • This sounds good, but to me I preffer the bad monkey, because I have a crate amp

  • nie pierdol tylko graj

  • i have it and use it with my solid state fender amp and it sounds like shit.

  • Thats b/c its meant to drive the valves in a tube amp. If there are no tube to drive then... Try to find your self a good distortion pedal or buy a tube amp.

  • Cool video man. I've been trying to decide between this and the Boss Blues Driver, but now I'm leaning towards the Tube Screamer.

  • Yea, The tube screamer is killer. I like the Blues Driver too, but the Ts 808 has a little something extra.

  • it depends on if you are using a Strat or a humbucking guitar. I have found the Blues Drive works better with Humbucking guitars like a Les Paul than 808, whereas808 works better with a SinglCo it really comes down to and what you like the sound of more, try them both at a store and then order or buy one, or both depending on how mucy $ you have, haha, i will say this, the boss SD-1 is almost identical in its construction as a TS808, and only costs about 50 bucks, just another thought for you

  • Very interesting. I guess I'll have to hear them both side-by-side. Thanks for the reply!

  • I don't understand this pedal. Can't you get this sound from a decent tube amp. It sounds like a pedal to make a tube amp sound like a tube amp. I'm confused. Please shed some light.

  • casey, you just pushed me over the edge on one of these things. i have been looking at them for a while now, and i definitely want one now! great vid.

    dave

  • thanks Dave. They are a great pedal. Look around for a good price. Thanks again buddy;0

  • Thanks for posting. I have the ts808 and I have modded it. Now I have the option of switching out the chip on the fly. I have to look back at my notes to see what mod it is. Its great though. Now I am trying to get my hands on an Exotic BB preamp pedal.

  • Cool. Glad you like your ts808 too. it really is a great pedal;)

  • Nice sound outta that..I see you got the Amp Fixed....

  • Yea. Just a little dust. Thanks Carl

  • you got some cool toys Casey!!and they sound so good!!^_^

  • Thanks Elvira. Boys and their toys.

  • 10 stars, Casey! Really cool!

    Awesome pedal and playing, buddy!

I'm glad that your amp is working better.

When you get bored with the pedal,

you can give it to me. LOL!

    Stu

  • Lol. For sure buddy. Its a great sounding pedal. This video doesn't do it justice.

    casey

  • Lol..yeah for sure!! ;)

  • Nice! I've used to issue IB Tube Screamer since the TS-1 in 1980! Great gear! Thanks Strat!

  • Thanks antar
