@Whattheheckybecky I as well! I couldn't seem to see the name logo on it anywhere except in a live version of Sophia I was like the first 3 letters of it. It starts with an A from my memory. No much help though >.<
it just seems unreal enough the existence of a person that can conceive such powerful stuff. but this person does exist, it's Laura Marling, and the world shines brighter when she sings. I am astonished.
@jencsk1234 Where can I find 'I was an eagle?' I haven't heard of it before but I really want to! There isn't a single song from her I haven't loved, haha. :)
@jennaw23 google "laura marling I was an eagle". The only footage is of her playing it live in chicago but it's pretty good quality. Most of the links have a video of it.Love her!
@jennaw23 there's also a version of it on youtube (again just concert footage but good quality) with the title "Laura Marling, 9/22/11, New Untitled Song" . Enjoy!
Just when I think Marling can't possibly get any more brilliant, this happens. . . Christ almighty. She is flawless. Honestly, I can just picture myself growing old, sitting in a rocking chair, and listening to her music with my grandchildren. Her music and her message will never die.
Don't get me wrong, I love her music, but people seem to be a little over the top with her. I wonder whether the reaction would be the same if she wasn't a cute blonde little girl.
@yvranx I agree I don't think her songs are loaded with deep messages in anyway whatsoever, but in my opinion her songs are brilliant at telling stories and connecting with people in different ways so if someone else feels a message within a song surely it can be valid for that individual? Shes not a little girl though, she is a grown up adult woman :)
@ssjsonicssj True, it's not as if she's going for this real deep meaning in everything, but there's just something about her songs, and that's not to say the lyrics aren't good, they're really good. She thinks of really nice ways of saying things, and she admits herself that we'd know if she was 'digging deep'. But it's not just that, like all her interviews she has a really unique take on things, and she really considers what she says, that's if she's not asked some bullshit commercialised q's.
@conorzzy I know that feeling, I'm kinda definitely obsessed! This may sound overboard but I saw her perform 3 times this weekend, Friday night at York minster and both the matinee and night show on Saturday at Sheffield cathedral. Her lyrics are fantastic and so is her voice, she can rock her guitar to bits and her band are awesome.
@ssjsonicssj Not even slightly over the top! I missed her one gig in Ireland for stupid reasons but I was thinking of doing the exact same. Like one of these days when I've time, I'll just like follow her tour! (creeper I know) :P That's really cool though. She's actually so awesome as a person and musician. When I talk to some people about her they say she's 'a bit weird', but I totally get her. Btw since you've been to those gigs, did she play the beast? Can't find a performance of it anywhere
@conorzzy yeah on both night shows, stripped back version compared to the album but if anything it improved the song as her voice / lyrics had more breathing room.
@ssjsonicssj, @conorzzy: Finally saw her live. A bit of a disappointment, I have to say. Most songs were played with the band, which I don't particularly care for, it was very short (~75 minutes), and this song was in a weird slow version.
@Yoursaffectionately uh yeah thats a great lyric! if i could i would have listed the entire song. and every song she's ever written lets be honest. its quite Godly how good she is
@conorzzy iv not heard it anywhere, just saying it as she's already playing new songs even though she only just recorded her creature album in March :)
