That's not quite true: Mercury came with the name 'Queen' but that was before he joined the band himself. So the latter two members in effect did join an existing group called Queen. But I agree they should've altered names for this project, although I do consider it a good album. Very 70's rock, very organic, not that electronical, over-produced stuff from nowadays.

Freddie is one of the aspects that I absolutely love about Queen, and now he's gone I just don't see the point. Brian May and Roger Taylor are not Queen. Brian May, Roger Taylor AND Freddie Mercury and John Deacon. Why not just name this band something utterly different?

Just so you realize, they call it Queen + Paul Rodgers. They all realize that they are something completely different than the old Queen. Also, Brian and Roger were two of the three starting members of the band, along with Tim Staffell, so I think they can still call themselves Queen if they want to. FYI. Coming from a REAL QUEEN FAN, Tim Staffell did not help create Queen. The name came from Freddie Mercury himself and later John Deacon joined afterwords. Steffal was in the band Smile with Roger Taylor and Brian May a band before QUEEN. Queen was not created until all 4 members joined. So YOU need to realize.

I think a man like Paul Rogers fits in with the musicians of queen. He has good range not like freddie but THIS ISN'T QUEEN. I think queen would sound interesting with Jeff Lynne (Electric Light Orchestra VOX). But Paul Rogers has always been good at singing and overall performing. I have all Paul's Bad Company's albums and his solo album, as well as all of Queen's. The Cosmos Rocks is a good album, even though it sounds like a Paul Rodgers album with Queen as his backup band.

Clearly all songs will have a strong Rodgers element to them as his voice is the medium by which they delivered. Also, he did write 5 of the songs. I think the Brian and Roger have done a lot in terms of meating out his songs into a sophisticated product than they would otherwise have been. The songs written by Brian and Roger are less camp than what we have come to expect from Queen but they can't expect Paul deliver something he is not comfortable with.
