What I wanted to say about "the land of the germans" :-): I'm living in the southwest close to the french border, and sometimes I think I melt away in the summer (not this year, of course. This summer's kinda shitty thing) like I did in Toronto in 2006 (but I succeeded in escaping to Ward's Island lying on the beach of Lake Ontario - what a lake! It must be as big as our whole little country here :-D).

they burry the nuclear waste in special containers but the containers have a shorter half life then the waste so thats a problem. They've thought of sending the waste to space but they are afraid if something goes wrong may come back down and that would be horrible and they don't know the affect it will have on space over time.

Also, with nuclear waste. So, what happens is Uranium-235, which is one of the three most used fuel sources for nuclear power plants, does something after it's used called "nuclear decay".

Once the U-235 releases its energy in a power plant, it decays into an isotope called Thorium-231. Thorium-231 is not very good at all to use in nuclear power plants, so it's stored in either the ground or containers, because it's radioactive, and can seriously hurt people.

And it's safe in the ground. :)
