Oh my god, Russ. That was absolutely incredible. Please, for the love of everything that is right in the world, please post the tabs. Or, at the very minimum, please post the plucking chords. I want to learn your version badly. Once again, phenomenal job. Bravo
@orngandblu thanks for the comment! i haven't played this song in forever, but the chords i'm using are basically C F and G. the picking isn't too hard to figure out if you have the chords and melody in your head. good luck!
@adiethelm thanks for watching! i got the chords from the internet and just messed around with some notes for the picking parts. it's not hard to figure out once you have the chords and melody in your head. enjoy your new uke!
I have the same Uke and also have mine setup with the Low G. I play guitar and have always strummed the bass note into the chords, so since I'm not really a ukulele player, the high G isn't as natural to me. I believe the first time I strung it low I bought a concert set of strings which come with the low G, then I found out later I could buy single strings at the guitar store! I think IZ had his setup with low G too. Check out my one and only ukulele cover of over the rainbow. Like your gear!
thanks! i come from guitar and do that bass note thing by habit as well. turns out it kind of works even on high G. different effect but still sounds good.
A question about the Tenor Uke though. I have a standard Uke with the high G. You indicate that your Tenor has a low G. Did it come that way or did you restring it? Does the low G change the chord patterns compared to having a high G?
thank you! the uke came high G and i strung it low G. you can switch back and forth easily if you change your mind. you can play this tune just fine with high G. you just won't have the lower notes in the opening picking. the chord shapes will be same regardless of low/high G tuning.
Thanks for the video, I was trying to play I Walk the Line from a book and couldnt really find a strum pattern I was pleased with, Im going to try the one you're using!
really dig it man! i just picked up the ukulele about 6 months ago after playing guitar and i enjoy even more than guitar. so unique and beautiful to arrange interesting covers! i would really like to start some sort of string trio/quartet with ukulele and guitar in the twin cities area. anyone interested??
Nice cover, I like that strumming pattern you've got there. I ordered a tenor a bit ago, still need to get some low G strings. I was going to get one similar to that, but it was out of stock, got an Ohana instead.
that is a great cover! I have been playin my uke for a couple month now and trying to do this song. I 'm struggling to see which note youre playing in the intro.
I'd really appreciate if you could tell me the notes you pick from00:18s to 00:26. thank you !
thanks for watching. i'm not evening sure how to illustrate that. the melody at 00:18 starts on the open C string, then C 2nd fret, then open E string, then E 1st fret, open A string. then E string 3rd fret, E 1st fret, open E, open C. that probably made no sense to you but good luck!
i enjoyed this very much im a bi cash fan so yes this was tre cool 5 stars my friend. also where did you get your ukulele i want to have a try at playing :) any sugestions on what to buy etc. thanks again :D
thanks for the comment! got my ukulele from ebay. check out Ukulele Underground's website for tips on purchasing a uke. the link should be in the description box. good luck!
You have a very good voice and are very good at playing... you don't normally sing coutry do you? If you do I think you should lead towards a different genre. I don't think country displays your singing best. But you do have a good voice!
Fabulous! I realy like the ukulele cover on this song! and your interpretation is quite good two. I would love to do so...could you please send me the tabs or a link or something?
great video. How do you like that uke. I'm looking for one myself. I was going to go with a Kala Ka-TE, but then I realized if has a low-G string. So now I'm looking at some Lanakais.
i actually gave this one away because i rarely played it. although, i was really impressed with the quality and sound. i just decided to stick with my smaller ukes. thanks for watching!
i agree. it takes away from the signature uke sound but still fun to mess around with. one out of my 3 ukes is low G. nice to have the option. thanks for the comment!
I like that a lot. Not sure about low G though. I know it gives you somewhere to go with 'walking' bass lines but then it starts to become a high pitched guitar rather than a uke, doesn't it? Maybe I'm just a Luddite.
Wow man, awesome. I'm going to have to get a low G string; I've been wanting to cover country tunes with my uke but haven't been able to get a sound as nice as yours. Keep up the good work.
