  • what is jake brake?

  • @MZTrail96 it is a special engine brake that slows down heavy trucks so they won't wear out their brakes to hell.

  • @rubyspaceship1o1 thanks. But this one only uses it for fun right?

  • @MZTrail96 I suppose they did it doesn't hurt the engine.

  • @rubyspaceship1o1 I know. I meant they did it for sound in this vid.

  • @MZTrail96 yea.

  • I COULD HAVE SWORN WE WERE IN 1955... UNTIL THE TRAIL BLAZER WENT BY! 0_o

  • Sounds pretty good! I wonder what a turbo would do for this baby though!

  • Is it really necessary to have straights with no baffles? How do u drivers think when u go down the road?

  • Is that where they filmed pet sematary?

  • i just jizzed in my pants

  • thats hellfire!

  • I'm not that annoying!

  • whats the point of jake brake ? it doesnt seem to brake alot

  • @SkyrimTimeWithDsk not ment to stop a vehicle, just uses engine copression to help slow or hold back going down the hill ect... plus there is different levels so he probably had it on a lower level. usually when bob tailing the jake is powerful enough to lock the rear wheels up when in its highest setting on most trucks ive been in

  • rev limiter haha

  • oh. cummins, not cum in. :<

  • @PizzaNuggetz no if you want pornos or fetish videos. look elsewhere. not on youtube hardly.

  • @yamahonkawazuki you need to do more research

  • @auaiao9 on what?, yeah ive found some recently. ( both pornos and fetish videos. so ill retract my previous statement lol)

  • @yamahonkawazuki you figured it out. lol

  • lol that guy in that little thing shit his pants when the Pete went by

  • I've been watchin' this video for 15 minutes...

  • @Tibb91 LMAO you and me both. have it set up on repeat.

  • Obviously you love your Jake Brake, so tell Jacobs how much and win a racing weekend in Vegas! Just enter "Jacobs Tip to Vegas" in Facebook and tell your Jake Brake Story

  • Holy Hell, what a sound! Wish my truck would sound same!

Hmm... jake brake to 1997 Scania 124G? Whole engine would blown apart! :DD

  • Sounds like a star wars pod racer :D

  • Can't beat an old Cummins!!

  • Would scare the begeesus out of a Prius.

  • people like that annoying noise

  • Gotta tell you, half these views are from me. My two year old son HAS to watch this over and over...

  • Hey volvo is good!

  • lol.. sounds like something from star wars!

  • 275 being Cuin or something else?

  • @TNFSDK 275 horsepower

  • I love how a Cat pulls, a Detroit screams, and nothing sounds sweeter than a 5 and a quarter Cummins jaking through two 8 inch straights! Aint no feelin like Cowmobilin- CMon!

  • @singlewing44 and nothing outlasts a cummins either

  • @MattytheDem TEN FER

  • @MattytheDem

Really? I heard you get 2/3 the mileage out of an ISX as you do out of a C15

  • @MattytheDem older cummins motors will last forever. big cams and n 14s get 1.3 to 1.6 million on a regular basis in between overhauls

  • Respond to this video... and the accert is a piece of shit

  • Nice. Love that sound.

  • sounds like a helicopter... and as I am typing this there is one passing over head XD how ironic

  • A supercharged diesel? You mean these trucks didn't come equipped with a turbo?

  • yeeeehhhaaa

  • Hey guys...Google Duel and see for yourselves. The Pete was supposed to be 1956 281 and there were 4 or 5 for the movie. One is still running if they are not telling fibs!

  • At 0:12 IT SOUNDS LIKE A TRANSFORMER FORMING XD

  • my soul for that truck!!! Im serius!

  • There used to be a man in Eureka, CA with a '49 High mount Pete, with a two-six-bits in it. A single 6in straight pipe.I lived almost two miles away from the highway, but I could always tell when he left the last stoplight heading north. Sounded better then anything I have ever heard, including a KT600 with straights. The center drop manifold with the blower AND turbo really change the sound. Like ID'ing cars at night used to be.220,275, 335, or 400?

  • Amazing sound! Was the driver flooring it?

  • its a jegg brake not jake brake

  • @SuperBUCK666 uh no its a jake brake

  • @SuperBUCK666 r u stupid?... im only 15 and i know that it is a jake brake

  • that 1 has a butter fly hood and that is not the duel truck

  • Model 20 Jake..very old...

  • i had an eargasm

  • Hey, Where are you in Oregon? I'm an owner/ op. just down in Salem. I own an '84 COE Freightliner with a 3406B that's is SUPER reliable and I've been thinkin' about turnin' it up and doin' some other performance mods for better mileage, more power.

  • Reminds me of the Pet they used in dual .. Idk what year it was . I think it was a 275 54 or late 40s . sorry idk much about the older rigs

  • that is a 1955 peterbuilt if you ever watch the duel it is the same exact truck i would love to have that truck great video

  • @stingraystud The one in duel is a around a 1960, this is a 1949. They have slight different hood style.

  • @Hotrodx199 its a 55 Peterbult 281 Tanker

  • @Hotrodx199 actually, they used four different trucks, one for the TV cut and three others for extending the movie for theatrical release. The true original was a 1955 281 with a Cat, while the remaining one is a 1960 281 with a Small Cam 350 Cummins. and you're right about the hoods. The late forties-early fifties models looks thinner and the radiator is more rounded at the top.

  • @Hotrodx199 it was 55, they had only one for shooting the whole film. but few 1960's exists that were used to advertise the movie

  • @seasonedtoker oh i thought you were talking about this truck, not the truck in the movie duel

  • @seasonedtoker Do your research dude they had at least 2 trucks for the movie... The one they dumped off the cliff obviously was turned into scrap metal but you can find the only surviving movie truck WITH the tank trailer on here.... check it out

  • @Hotrodx199 the one in duel is a 1955 peterbilt 281

  • @Hotrodx199 The guy from Nc that has the vids of the smokey and the bandit truck has the original duel trk he has some vids of it on here

  • @stingraystud That is incorrect first of all the truck from duel had a single straight up exhaust stack not a double bent, second the headlights are too high, that is a peterbilt 351

  • @stingraystud Watch the American Trucker Series and the Owner of BPW Freight in North Carolina owns it!

  • @stingraystud Thank you, you answered my question: "is it the truck from duel?"

  • @stingraystud It's spelled Peterbilt.

  • I know you hate 'em, Hotrod, but you should find an old truck with a Caterpillar in it and make a video.

  • @coyner254 I dont hate cats, i love caterpillars too, but i hate people who just stick to one brand and hate on everything else

  • @Hotrodx199 - True. I stick to Cats, but I don't hate anything else. Just prefer Cats.

  • @Hotrodx199 You're right. In the time I have been driving so far I have had the chance to use Cat, Cummins, and Detroit. They are all great in their own right. I have found they all have good and bad points in pulling power, fuel economy, and durability. It's just my opinion but I think Cummins is the best all around engine, a Cat is the choice for heavy pulling, and Detroit is the best for fuel economy. The year of the motor has a big part with it too.

  • @Hotrodx199

    Yeah..closed minded twits...

  • @Hotrodx199 thats the only way to go! mix things up every once in a while. don't hate something just because it isn't one certin thing

  • @Hotrodx199 i know what you mean man!

  • @Hotrodx199 agred. where THEIR brand is perfect while everyone elses sucks. aka fanboys/girls. every one is good, every one has their faults too.

  • @Hotrodx199 amen

  • Any body else think it sounds like an air plane or helicopter going by?

  • @redneckmowerman yeah but thats a cummins for yah. the little 12 valves when you get flyin down the highway sound like your in a plane

  • @Joe198969 12 valves do sound like air planes going down a road. They sound good until you get them past like 2100, then they get this high pitched bark.

  • thats not a stock 49 hood and grill was it swapped

  • What would an old Pete or Mack set me back, restored or unrestored? I got the fever for classic rigs after I bought my first diesel, a '92 Dodge W250 with a Cummins.

  • not a 49 thats for damn sure

  • @zooders It is.

  • @Hotrodx199 because there is no latch for the hood, 49's hoods open from the side. this is a late 50's model

  • @Hotrodx199 no it is not

  • @zooders deff is just not factory

  • @zooders yes it is ass! first year they were built.

  • Sweet Pete:)

  • great sound

  • awesome old Pete!!!!!

  • IS that an old Mack down the road?

  • dude i bet that is soo much louder in person sweet truck!!

  • one word

    F-A-S-T XD

  • Nice toy.

  • Massive Bonner!!!!!

  • LOL?

  • lmao,as crazy as that sounds, there is really no other way to put it lol

  • @sweetpete84 whats a bonner? i know what a boner is but a bonner?

  • @sweetpete84 What's a bonner?

  • @philip21786 A Bonner, is what goes through your mind, when you visually see and hear something simultaneously, that is too exciting to put into words!

  • @sweetpete84 bonner lol

  • that thing sounds amazing

  • Music to the ears.....mate.....imagine that rig on a frosty morning going down hill on the Jake.... fully loaded.........Walmart's... Plastic Volvo's will never sound that good.......keep on trucking Bro..

  • @ozziairlegger Walmart and Volvo BOTH suck. Walmart especially because they treat their employees like shit

  • @MattytheDem and they do this retarded group clap thing every morning

  • @Hotrodx199 ,they do the retarded clap because most of the workers are retarded

  • @Hotrodx199 i have a vid of it

  • @MattytheDem and then they turn around and lobby congress to crank up minimum wage because they know there competition can't afford it.

  • @importsstillsuck that minimum wage increase was just another way of the government increasing there tax income

  • @MattytheDem what corporation cares about its employees

  • @MattytheDem Amen to that! worked in a TLE for 2 years and couldnt agreemore

  • Did,or does, anyone make a dual (split) exhaust manifold for a normally asperated or supercharged diesel engine for big rigs?

  • a company named ellis made split manifold in the 50's

  • turbos are alot better though right? better and higher boost power and feul milege

  • Yeah they are more efficient and such... Superchargers do use up power to turn the thing, but in the end you get like a 125 horsepower addon.

  • yeah when a turbo probley adds 300 lol but yeah dont get me wrong defently a nasty truck and is awesome. im just not a supercharger guy but hey watever this truck is unique pretty much all diesels are turbos but this is unique and looks cool and thanks for up loading this video bro have a good day

  • and more low-end torque, ideal for towing. But you knew that anyway

  • @454sskilla Depends. Turbos are simple and cheap, and that alone made them universal on all diesels, but not necessarily the best option. Turbos take away hp in the form of backpressure in the exhaust system. Here's the best option; a Lysholm Screw supercharger. Look up the Kenne Bell unit used on Mustangs. A big compressor on a diesel will make the perfect truck engine; instant torque with no lag whatsoever, and with a bypass it'll get great mpg.

  • @earsneyes1

turbos are way better for a diesel, diesels flow so much exhaust that some of the new ones make boost at 0 throttle...

and they take much less hp to run them, are simpler, easier to control etc etc etc

if superchargers were better, they would all have superchargers, with the new emissions regulations diesels are very very high tech

  • @mageac They make boost at 0 throttle because they use vane turbos and which at idle the vanes are closed up and helps it spool in place of a wastegate.

  • @Hotrodx199 VGT variable geometry turbocharger. I worked for Navistar when the DT365 was first released. They were the coolest sounding engines because you could hear turbo whine at idle.

  • @earsneyes1

Can't bypass a compressor with internal compression. Only way to get rid of the parasitic losses is to use an electromagnetic clutch. Mercedes used to use them on their 'Kompressor' engines (btw Kompressor is NOT the German equivalent of a 'blower' ie a roots!) but the superiority of the turbo rendered the set up obselete. No OEM uses the twin screw or the centrifugal superchager, and very few use the roots and then only where engine bay space precludes the use of turbos...

  • @nem427 There are some units available with an internal bypass, may have to talk to Magnuson about that one; also, the Roots blower that is used on the turbo 2 stroke Detroits bypasses as soon as turbo boost exceeds a certain pressure point. It can be done, just have to do the research.

  • @earsneyes1

Or read my post. I said that a roots is not a compressor, it's a blower. The boost is built up in the manifold, not in the rotor housing. The benefit is that bypassing is easy; the downside is that the compression is very inefficient. You're quite correct to point out that twin charging provides the best overal curve, but with much greater complexity. Frankly with VGT and twin scroll turbos being so good, the gain just isn't worth it.

  • how many miles she got? 1-2 million? cummins never die

  • Ohh it's hard telling, but these things never die. 1 million miles later, rebuild them and go another million.

  • That is one sweet sound that thing puts out, love the old cummins.

  • Yeah it's a classic sound for sure.

  • Sweet Pete....And Sweet Mack in the back...David's no doubt:)

    Great job kiddo

  • Thank you. Yeah something happened with the fuel pressure guage or something and i guess it sprayed fuel inside so it didn't make it through the parade which is why it was parked there. I got video of it moving.

  • I just have to say your you tube name is awesome, lol

  • lol thanks haha

  • THATS A NICE OL PETE

  • Awesome Sound! Love the truck too.

  • Oh yeah! :D I like it! Keep 'em coming!

  • Now that is a cool looking and sounding ol rig.Your right late 40s early 50s ironenose pete

  • Sweet man!

  • Sweet sounding for sure...music to my ears!!

  • that is one of the coolest trucks I have ever seen or heard!

  • I need one like that!!! Awesome!

  • That was awesome! Would like to see more of it if possible.

  • Awesome old Truck !!!!!!!! :D
