• I think the TEFL course is a great thing to do, if you want to travel and teach at the same time! However may i just offer a little word of advice... If you're BLACK and interested in going to China, you will unfortunately find it much MORE difficult than whites, to land a placement. This is partly because the Chinese perception of English, is to be white. I hope no one finds this comment offensive, as I am just stating advice to all the black teachers out there. Good Luck!

  • Genaerally speaking, a lot of chinese parents stress their children's education highly, specially ENGLISH education. There is huge demand for english training no mattter children or adults

  • How if your students have ZERO Background in English, as in none at all. How do you teach them?

  • Hey,

If your students don't speak ANY English at all there are quite a few techniques you can use, such as waving and shaking their hand to say hello and then point to yourself and saying 'my name is xxx'. Think about it - when you learnt English as a child you didn't know any words at all to start with! All these kinds of techniques are covered off in our TEFL courses - doing some kind of training before you go out to teach abroad will make sure you're prepared!

    Any questions let me know!

  • Hey,

It's Hunan, which is located on the south bank of the Yangze river - it's beautiful!

  • 6:35 Would you please spell that name of the area you described that has the same climate as Hawaii?

  • How exactly does it work explaining things to the kids when they don't know much English to begin with? Is there some sort of translator or do you have to speak Chinese?

  • The TEFL course will show you exactly what you need to do to teach English without needing to learn Chinese. In some cases schools would prefer you to have a basic understanding of Chinese but generally the best way is to follow the principles you have been taught. Visual aids such as prompts and realia can help if students are struggling to understand.

  • I'm looking at the brochure right now. If working in the CHinese Provinces you'd get up to 610 euro a month which is equivalent to 855 dollars a month. If working in a chinese city you could receive up to 820 euro or 1149 dollars a month.

  • What qualifications do you need for this? And also do you need to be fluent in Manderin or just basic? Can anyone answer these questions for me who knows what they are talking about? Thanks!

  • This looks like a private school, "Aston English in Xian" from the sign. I would say the pay is higher then 5000 rmb, but the hours are higher, and assistance is less, ie, no free apartment.

  • u dont get much

it s not about money going there

  • 8:30am - 7:30pm 4 days a week? That's a little bit harsh. I would suggest 20 hours at the MOST if it's your first time teaching. Looks like a pretty nice school though, tiny classes at least.

  • nice work with the kids. i'm thinking of teaching over in china as well. but i'm chinese and don't really speak much tradional chinese mandarin so i hope it can still work out.

  • depends. around 1200$

  • i hope he's wetting that. scrumptious.

  • Enough to live on, enough to save if your lucky. Accomation is usually free.

  • Salaries vary depending on your qualifications. I believe an average monthly salary would be about 3,500 Yuan (or RMB). Check shanghaiexpat dot com for more information. There are better websites for learning about teaching English in another country but I can't recall the names off hand. Be aware, there are numerous scams as well. Check out travel.state dot gov/travel/living/teaching/teaching_2848.html

  • really nice

  • About 5000 RMB per month for the typical bog standard position. (about 700 US). It's not great, but it's OK at local level, and you don't have to pay any rent/bills.

  • Not much, but how do Australians teach English when they cannot speak it?

  • Well those two Aussies seemed very happy with it. Great u-bing. Where do I sign up?

  • Looks a half a "pander" (pan-der)? Sounds like great English... It's Panda (pan-duh).

  • what kind of pay do you get for this in china?

  • i hear it depends on where you teach. you can receive anywhere between 12,000 US Dollars to 22,000 US Dollars a year. It is very good pay for being in China

  • Depends, 4000-7000rmb can be expected per month depending on which city you are in, experience and work week.

  • Typically about 4000-5000 rmb for first year teachers, that's about $500-550 US dollars.

  • yeah i have the same question. can you also plz say it in yen, pound (£) and dollar ($)?
