  • you can never get sick of this song i first heard it in thps4 and always looked forward to when the playlist would come back to this song because i didnt know how to work the tracks!

  • I loved this song as a kid, and I didn't understand it. As an adult I ADORE this song because I understand it! As a musician I understand what goes into such a beautifully composed song, I know how to play all the guitar parts... It feels amazing when you learn a song you have loved for so long.

  • I love thing song, but it makes me feel terrible for how much I rape the replay button.

  • fucking hell, takes me back

  • omg ive been dying for the name of the song ive wanted to hear it again for a long time thx for posting this vid

  • One of the best songs from one of the best records ever. I still remember picking up this record at Song X in St. Pete back in '98 and instantly falling in love as soon as it started playing. Definitely a life changer.

  • reminds me of when i was young playing tony hawks games. them games showed me so many awesome bands :D tony hawks forever :D

  • love this cent ay, soo goood

  • still have the highest rated comment, but yet it doesn't show it in the top comments, what the shit is that? >.<

  • one of the best songs inTHPS4!!!!!

  • wow what a musical

  • i'm going to see these guys thursday. super stoked.

  • Thumbs up if you found this band from the punk documentary, Backbeat.

  • One of the fucking best songs in the world.. im gonna tattoo THPS4 on me!!

  • Kinda emo music, but I had this song as the only one on the playlist while playing THPS4. Good song, also fit when me and my girl broke up. She would drive around all night wit her friends, i'd drink all night depressed.

  • @eleetmatt Your fucking dad is "emo". Fuck off.

  • @eleetmatt girls are fuckin sluts. except for the cool ones

  • what genre are these guys?

  • @demonassassin13 Deffs punk.

  • @demonassassin13 According to Wikipedia and some people, it's Post-hardcore.

  • Comment removed

  • @demonassassin13 Their usually labeled under "good," which is a sub-genre of "fucking awesome."

  • I really like this song by them because where as most of their songs have very abstract, "fuzzy" lyrics....this is a really cool story about getting back together with a OTR trucker buddy for a few days before he has to cross the country again.....awesome song

  • TONY HAWK!!

  • Love this song on the Tony Hawk game[:

  • without the Pro Skater I never would've been introduced to such awesome music.

  • @therezn55

Doesn't matter how ya found it....just matters that ya did find it :)

  • @smcgillis248 yeah =) true business bro !

  • 4 people suck.

  • THPS 1-4 pretty much sculpted my musical preferences into what they are today.

  • i love this song and i listain to song about murdering, voilence , and war, although i do thing voilence has its own way of beauty this song is pretty and beautiful that will make someone smile not out of revenge or anything like that just pure happyniss

  • If you'all all forgive me for being kinda corny, I gotta say taht this is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, I know its a weird thing to say about such a punk rock classic, but everything from the simple straight up lyrics, the imagery of youth and of youth maturing, the backing vocals, the screaming in and of itself is intense, I mean yeah they do it in every song but in this song it serves the tone of the song, and like I said, this song is fucking awe inspiring beautiful

  • This is why I started listing to HWM

  • tony hawks pro skater 4 was the best one with the best overall soundtrack, theyre all classic, it takes me back whenever i hear these songs, theyre a part of my childhood.

  • Fleightriner <3

  • this song iss awsome !!!

  • real EMO!

  • @adiorockstar

what exactly makes u think this is emo?

  • HWM!! Some of my best shows ever. I remember getting Push for Coin. Endless play. Awesome!!!

  • Btw, am I the only one who prefer old HWM (like this album) to the new ones? Seems like they sadly started to stick to the "fake" emo labels by the 2000's :/ (musically)

  • @Hubcool367 yes youre the only one in the history of the world. you can now officially feel special.

  • @pinetone000 lol. Go die faggot, I'm new to the fucking band (bitch)

  • @Hubcool367 haha i love this site i never remember what i post until somebody responds.

  • not only this song, but this band is the perfect quintessential "chill out" band.

  • WOW just brought back alot of memorys man

  • the drums are so sick

  • true emo.

  • @allforch17 strach that. an awesome punk rock band

  • @allforch17 True dat. I remember when Emo wasn't a synonym for feminine crybaby.

  • @mmechill the media/music industry try to put crappy labels on music to sell records, and create a backlash on it too

  • @allforch17 like how "screamo" became a term for hardcore/black/death metal bands, it's retarded.

  • @Hubcool367 yes

  • @Hubcool367 Especially since screamo, hardcore, black metal, and death metal are all drastically different things...

  • @GreatKingMinos dunno if this is sarcasm, but yeah they're all pretty different o.o

  • @allforch17 yup

  • Sad song, always reminds me of leaving all of my friends for college. I dont know if its right but what I picked up from the lyrics its about a good old friend coming back that you havent seen in a long time and knowing that theyre going to have to be gone again eventually. Or at least thats what I got from the lyrics.

    Great song

  • it makes me kinda chuckle when kids say "i heard this in THPS (insert number here)" not bad that they're hearing of great music like HWM...but just odd to me when i hear that.. being born in 85 and what not...having dial up internet, searching tirelessly for new music and downloading 1 song at a time at a snails pace...then again before that there was the tape trading scene...which seems like its an even cooler thing than what i grew up with.

  • Tony Hawk sure now GOOD music

  • does anyone else notice that they sound a bit like Still Life???(the great 90's emotive hardcore band from california) great band and song.

  • @Devaprakash777 i'll have to check them out...i find that they sound very much like Leatherface. it was their biggest influence after all

  • @chuckmastazero -yeah, they do sound a lot like leatherface now that i checked them out, basically leatherface with dual vocals, the vocal styles are very similar, that kinda gruff out of tune but not quite kinda singing, beautiful all the same.

  • Haha, from Tony Hawk! Does anyone know the name of that song on Tony Hawk where its flute playing?

  • It reminds me most of that level where I think it was a shipyard or something, with all the huge crates about and shit.

I'd give anything to be back in them days. Tony Hawks games were awesome, you didn't have to worry about where your life was leading and girls didn't matter as much.

I was born in 1990. THSP4 came out when I was in my prime.

  • @Szaam dude... i know EXACTLY what you mean. 'cept i was born in '91.

  • I guess I'm not the only one who got help finding good bands because of Tony Hawk games!some of my favorite bands like Millencolin,Alkaline Trio,Less Than Jake were introduced to me in the THPS games! And now when I hear some old tracks from my 4 or 5 song playlist in each game I get goose bumps! It reminds me of better times, times were you spend days with your friends or alone playing THPS and forget about worries and the future! So often I wish these times back in my life!THX for my childood mom

  • This song is amazing!

  • Yeah I was born in 93. I love listening to Alternative and Post-Grunge music from the 90's. Today's music isn't close to it at all. This reminds me of all the carefree and relaxing days. Everything felt right back then.

  • This song is just fuckin amazing

  • I was born in 93, and this song is special to me. Christmas when I was 9 I got a PS2 with THPS4 and Test Drive. This song represents being a kid, having fun, and not having any worries. I always get a warm, nostalgic feeling whenever I hear this or any other THPS song. Cheers. :)

  • this song is really special, im a metalhead and i listain to really brutal stuf some stuf even called goregrind but i love this song. this song is awesome and i love this song ,from a metalhead thats alot

  • thps4 is the only think where i know this song from^^ ... such memories will never get lost... i feel like 14 and i am 21 nowXD... god bless the good old times

  • absolutely brilliant....just raw emotion.

  • thps 4 for evah :3

  • @661444 the best TH game ever...still great today

  • I hate arguments amongst pretentious people that just look up different subgenres for a living and go around trying to prove how a band fits into one of them. This is just good rock music: emotional without being sappy, melodic yet hard-rocking. Go ahead and call it "emo" or "melodic hardcore" if you want, but I just prefer to just call it rock.

  • @Spiritu39 amen brother....amen

  • ahh the bassline sends shivers through me, i love this song

  • I NEED A REMEDY ! :)

  • idiot

  • such a sick song :D

  • HWM is the BEST!!!

  • i remember christmas 2005. my mom took me to see blade 3. when we got home an xbox with this game was ont. the table. this song reminds me of that day everytime i hear i

  • Where would I be without Tony Hawks?

  • i think id have a truly terrible taste in music without some of the greatness that tony hawks has introduced me to

  • @hjfleeds I agree, I mean, it's a little silly to say "I heard this band from a video game" but it's the truth! Tony Hawk has a lot of great bands. I saw Dead Kennedys live because of Tony Hawk games!

  • @Szaam The games all had really great soundtracks. I used to play them all the time. Years later I'm discovering a bunch of bands and I realize that I already know some of the songs from those games. Lol.

  • Joe Banks from RVA/Tigger Woods h aha

  • This is going in my MP3 player alright.

  • How do you call this kind of music?

  • Awesome :]

  • Okay, henceforth I will only listen to Awesome Music! ;-]

  • awesome punk rock music

  • post-hardcore. pretty much.

some people call it emo but i disagree.

  • this is not post-hardcore... this song was recorded in 1997 there wasn't much of a post-hardcore to speak of back then, lol.

HWM falls under the broad and shifting umbrella that is punk.

  • @TheWentzMachine

    post-hardcore is punk. by origin.

there's always been post-hardcore since, well, after hardcore. and the term post-hardcore is just as much of an umbrella term as punk.

  • lol

They're post-hardcore only by designation of time. and even then they were part of a the second wave that could have argueably had a different name. They're closer to original hardcore punk imo, except almost no one after the time black flag started to branch out was known as hardcore. the genre grew too fast and is just too unspecific as a subgenre for my tastes. over the course of 20 some-odd years the sound changed entirely.

  • @TheWentzMachine thank god there is someone on this page that knows what the fuck they are talking about. saw them while supporting this abulm and many other times live pre 2000. they are not post hardcore and anyone who generalizes like that is ignorant and stupid. just because a guy screams gutterally does not mean he should be associated with a genre. back then bands of all types played together and minus positive youth, skins and sharps, everybody pretty much got along. now it's image.

  • @wickersham123 Whatever happened to the title of Alternative? I feel HWM would fit the bill with Local H much better than they would with The Germs, Rise Against, Green Day, Bad Religion, Rancid, or whatever type of shape-shifting, elusive 'meaning' punk has at any given time. Not trying to bash punk, but it's way too broad in and of itself. Hot Water Music has always maintained at least a signature sound, and it's ridiculous to argue over genres that every generation gives a different meaning.

  • post-hardcore has been around since the late 80s bro. t

  • @myguitardidyermom12 Yo dude, if you read the comment two above yours you'd realize i know that, but still disagree with their designation as post-hardcore.

  • punk

  • when i play thps4 this is the song i always went to or the only one i would turn on an it would play over and over as i am listening to it now over and over i love this song so damn much!!!!!!

  • I started to listen Iron Maiden after playing THPS4 ;] thanks to Number of the Beast in soundtrack

  • it used to always come on on the college level near the river for me. god i miss 2003 :/

  • @metalmusicrocks92 FUCK YEAHH!

  • greatness.

still waiting for them in Italy once...

  • THPS4. good game. good sountrack

  • i fucking love this song

  • This songs meaning to me might be wierd to some..I think it talks about how he has a great friend, and they have to go on with this thing called life. and hanging out relieves each other..but they know duty calls and they must go on :( songs reminds me of my bro's, makes me really sad

  • I think your interpretation makes a lot of sense. I used to play in a band that got to travel a little bit, and so I always looked at it from the eyes of being on the road and never really standing still. You meet some amazing people, and those memories are what carry you on to the next empty club. But the great thing about great music is that it hits each person in his or her own way. Amazing band!!

  • I would like to see it live, but I don't find... It sucks because it is a great music and a great band!!!

  • I got their cd at a pawnshop for a buck. I took the chance and bought it and didn't regret it.

  • you really score there!

  • hot water music are the best

  • dude hell yea, the thps series got me on board wit a crapload of bands and artists; both hip hop and rock. this has deffinitely always been one of my faves.

"you're not the only one" by the throwaways from tony hawk project 8 is also one of my faves

  • prolly my favorite song this week...

  • Goddamn I love this song. And Tony Hawk games. When I look back in a few decades, Ill remember how this game got me on the board.

  • good band.

    they remind me of jawbreaker.

  • i got paint on my hot water music shirt... i tried my best getting it out but its still kinda visible... now im sad.....

  • sad that they aint popular much D:

  • Not everyone can enjoy their music and that's ok. U don't have to please the world.

  • wtf what did i say? i think you replied to the wrong user

  • No, it was meant for u, but I used the wrong pronoun. When I used 'You' I meant to say 'anyone,' or in this case, the band. So it's ok that they aren't popular because mainstream culture is usually shallow anyway. The band doesn't need to change itself to society's taste and expectation. Be true to yourself. That's punk and why I like this band.

  • oh yeah well your right but if they were more popular they get more fans

after all in the music buisness its all about the fans

  • I don't want everyone enjoying HWM anyway :) I'd rather they remain classic. I'd get annoyed if little teeny boppers were all listening to them.

  • This cured the song

  • Yeah I agree, some how people can't figure that out lol

  • yeah i mean its clear its about a freind especially when he says: "Arm and arm we'll break

    We'll break the takedown

Like we did in those days"

  • hwm+thps4=awesomness :DDD

  • from 2:14 till 2:36 its the best part of the song no doubt

  • tony hawk is best

  • This song is down, I first heard it on Tony Hawks Pro Skater 4 and then I started liking it.

  • Musical GODS!!!

  • Reminds me of 311, mainly the guitar's tune

  • It's so fucking great! Love this song!

  • Favourite song ever.

    absolutely brilliant.

My friends don't rate HWM at all, think they are shit.

I just think my friend can't grasp the awesomeness of this song, or the band.

  • your friends are wrong lol

  • damn i love this song....

  • Madmanexpress doesnt deserve to listen to Hot Water Music for his stupidity and idiocy

  • Nice song.

    Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4

  • I got it from there too. XD

  • great music

  • such a pretty song

  • This song seems like its for someone that does EX ''stories of his trade'' ''hes just rolling'' '' hes only in town a couple of days'' ''driving all night, your finally back again''.....gteart song.

  • I hope that was a joke. If not, then you have no idea about what HWM is all about. It's about friendship and growing up and seperating from the ones that you spent your life with. Stories of his trade refers to talking about the job, or other reason why he had to leave and move away, Hes just rolling, means that hes not leaving because he will always be there in spirit, and the rest is pretty obvious. Have you ever had a friend come back in town and wanted to waste no time with sleep?

  • Arm and arm

    We'll break the takedown

    dont get it

  • You dont get it? If you have support and trust and loyalty from your true friends., When your backs are against the wall and all you have is your true friends, then you have everything it takes to break through everything that is taking you down.

HWM is all about finding answers, finding exits, never giving up hope, true friendship, trust, and most importantly, everyone's own individual journey through life. It's like the bible, a great set of stories that have great advice to live by.

  • Nope.. This song is about his friend who is a truckdriver thats in town for the weekend. A freightliner is a brand of semi-truck. I hate to say it but all you guys putting more meaning into the lyrics are wrong....Though this song and HWM kick ass.

  • yeah it was THPS 4

i was born in 93, but im ok with it lol.

i love this song, i had a 4 song playlist on that game and this was definately one of them.

along with "All my best friends are metalheads"

  • @MoondoggieJ I WAS BORN IN 1993 TOO!

  • @MoondoggieJ

im guessing 2 of the other 3 were goldfinger - spokesman and superman

  • yeah i first heard on THPS 4 also

  • I cant believe that this song has not been on youtube longer.

It is hot water musics best song, first heard it on THPS 4 or something, then i had to learn it on guitar.

  • yeah such a great song really good man i miss the 90's this sounds likethe 90's chillin after school and getting wasted

  • Its so funny that you say that. I miss the 90s so fucking much. It pisses me off to hear all these 90's-born kids trying to say that they grew up in the 90's.

I tell em they don't know shit if you were born in 93 and were in diapers until 199-fucking-5. Anyways, youd know what i am talking about if you watched "Essential Guide to '90s Music" by some bitch on youtube.

-She even comments how she got her info from a VH1 show.

  • yeah i was born in 1983 so i got to see the whole 90's :P

  • I was actually born in 1992

  • thats funny dude I was born in 78 in Australia and this was very undergroud stuff here. I just turned 30 recently and still hit the shows but I notice I am old now compared to the guys who remember this as old school. But I guess in the 90s i used to say how I remember the clash, the specials, gnr, poison, the cars blondie, and violent femmes were new to me. Memory is very subjective and I am amazed at how people absorb music when they were youn. I just hope they are tellin the truth.

  • I was born in 93.

I kinda miss everything i watched on tv back then when i was little...yup i can remember some stuff back to when i was 1 2 and 3.

  • hahah agreed

  • without a doubt one of my favorite HWM songs.

that power down and blast outro makes my arm hair stand every time.

    its just rolling.....

  • YES yes it does.

my favorite parts are the mini-solos before each verse
