  • @joemyersjr its just he prefers his fader reversed, its the same movement as using the up-faders. hamster style, named after the bullet proof scratch hamsters (quest, cue, eddie def, marz, eddie k)

  • ((((((((((((can u connect serato to that mixer?

  • GREAT tutorial!!! Makes perfect sense!!!!

  • ur a ledge brov! thanks for the help

  • allow me to re introduce myself

  • Nice tut. brotha.. Can you please do one for us who cut hamster style. its waaaay harder for us without being able to use the force of our thumbs. Thanks

  • @cuttyb it's actually a bit easier to do hamster style, because you are going more towards the fader wall, and you can use your thumb more as a spring. but either way (regular or hamster), once you figure out a way for you to do them, they become really easy to get consistently. (i used to scratch hamster)

  • This guy is professor in scratching..

  • wich mixer is that?

  • WE DEMAND MORE TUTORIALS! :))))) U are like master Yoda for us! :))

  • so frustrating when my thumb doesn't want to be a spring.

  • @JVM113

    no

  • What mixer is that?

  • @imnotokeither Technics SH-EX1200

  • Hey Angelo I love the videos they've helped me to make my scratches sound better but I have a question about the crab scratch. I scratch hamster style it's just easier for me but I'm finding that doing the crab hamster style is really hard any tips?

  • that scratch and tone sounds like a huge bug zapper! lol

  • was just scratching only using the mono stereo switch but thnx have more to learn

  • Your tutorials are the best! thanks..

i have to work opposite as i am back-to-front on the crossfade.

  • Most useful crab tutorial I've seen yet.

  • whats the name of this vinyl?

  • Do you need to close it all the way on the open crab scratch.

  • how it is possible to perform close crab with hamster configuration ??

  • @Aktarvata Yes just use your right hand instead of your left and mirror how his hand is placed. Im practiceing this now.

  • @Aktarvata

I scratch crab too and I just use my thumb as the spring to pop it back open. But I'm still having some trouble getting it to sound tight. Just my insight

  • Thank the DJ gods for DJAngelo! Cant wait to learn beat juggling.

  • Great video man. I've waited for this one. I have been watching all your tutorial and my skill has definitely improved. Are you going to do a tutorial on beat juggling soon?

  • yes it will. i bought a 100 dollar stanton table and a 200 dollar stanton table and a 60 dollar stanton mixer, and my setup works great! It may not be the greatest setup in the world, but it gets the job done.

  • will a 200 dollar stanton turntable do for this?

i have yet to actually get one.

  • i am scratching dince ´89 and i have met a lot of DJs in all this time. Most DJ did it but they couldn´t really explain what they do. DJ Angelo really broke the technique down like as detailed as i have never seen before!!! i bow before the master!!

  • very good explanation.

i'm looking forward for more stuff.

  • Do you use torq?

  • great tutorials, hope u do more now

  • dj angelo hope u dnt mind me asking but how many u been scratching?ur vids best about better than the $20 dvds in shop!much easier 2 understand!dj angelo legend

  • this is far is the best scratching tutorial on youtube

  • @ZeroOneChannel and qbert's too!!!but this is better i agree

  • @ZeroOneChannel I agree. This guy is professor in scratching..

  • @ZeroOneChannel obviously

  • You break it down in great detail! I've been doing closed crabs over the years and wondered why my crabs been sounding so jagged and discontinuous while my other friends could crab so fluidly. I would try to crab faster but it didn't make a difference. Thanks for explaining this! My crabs are now sounding more like 3 click flares!!

  • Again a tutorial which describes the crab-stuff very good. I like your tutorials very much and looking forward to the next tutorial. Please make a tutorial on beat-juggling as well.

  • I 2nd that, I would love to see a beat juggling tutorial as I'm really struggling with the beat juggling side of things. Can't wait for the next video!!!

  • i 3rd that, angelo make a beatjuggling tutorial!

  • I scratch hamster is there any tips on that cos although you have talked this through really good I'm finding it harder to do the opposite way :s

  • U rockin' with the best!!!

  • its sounds like its broken the close crab its hotttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Scratching nEW yEAR:d

  • Another great DJ Angelo Tutorial as always! Thanks a lot for breaking it down into real simple steps!

    One.

  • DJ angelo is by far the best tutor ive watched, big to you angelo!

  • tnx again for this informative tutorial...the best!!

  • Thanks a lot for the requested tutorial! You are best teacher. Thanks again, I really owe you.

  • Great work once again - very well explained! Luv it!!! =)

    Keep 'em spinning;

and fat beats for the new year!

  • thanks for the lesson.! it really helped :)

your rocking with the best! dj angelo

  • YES!!!!! Another quality tutorial Angelo, been waiting for this for time, your patterns at the end of this tut are sick man!

  • Yo, that's fat!

  • Thats realy helpful Angelo! Thank you.

  • F'N AWESOME MAYNE!!! I've been waitin so long for this one..you da Mangelo!!!

  • For all you guys that want a better fader but cant afford yo buy a new mixer, replace your existing fader with an "InnOfader" It would be the cheapest solution if they carry replacement faders for you mixer! The Fader is sick as hell too!!!

  • Man you are siccckkk. I really want to start all ths but if you buy a deck there's loads of other things you have to buy, if anyone knows any cost effective ways that would be really helpful.

  • you need 1 mixer, 2 turntables, a headphone (can be a cheap one) get some cheap 2nd hand gear

  • thanks man

  • @audioh0lic And vinyl :) Lots of them hehe

  • im asking you because i respect your opinion, i have a pioneer djm 600 and the crossfader needs to be moved too far to knock it on and off for crab scratches. im looking to trade the mixer for a new scratch dedicated mixer, i like the look of the technics you use, what would you recomend?

  • get a dedicated scratch mixer, like a Ecler HAK series, a Rane, or that Technics.

  • Look at the RANE TTM56! Awesome scratch mixer, doesn't have the bells and whistles of the DJM600 in terms of EFX etc, but for cutting, you can't beat em!

  • Another sick tutorial man!

You my friend are my idol :P

  • man i'm jealous of those that can 4 finger crab cause my pinky finger has always been too goofy to pull it off. it travels too closely next to my ring finger to do anything.

  • Just stick with the open fader, crab orbit, and you won't have to worry about using your pinky to pull it off.

  • im also a guitar player and what really helped me with my pinky was so called grip master. u can practice everywhere and the results are immediate. cheers

  • Another awesome tutorial bro your a great teacher keep up the good work and merry christmas

  • thank you!

  • another well explained tutorial mate will keep it locked. merry Christmas mate. and thanks for adding info on that scratch vinyl. good tidings and and peace out :-)

  • whats the album called on his scraching deck

  • @moldytaco322 superseal

  • Awesome man these videos really help out keep making more!

  • dj angelo is a legend, the coolest guy at scratching an tutoring gan

  • merry christmas mate :)

  • Forget the game....DJ Angelo is a real life DJ Hero.

  • Very good tutorial, sir. I use CDJ's and hope to one day make the authentic vinylists proud. DJ Angelo: Greatest DJ?

  • Great Lesson. I like the way you break it down. Well done... oh yea, your scratching skills are great as well.

  • thanx for uploading this Tutorial =D

  • Amazing as always!

  • this is rude!!!

  • i wish i could do this

  • 9:03 sick..They sound just like jackhammers

  • Another great Tut..

I have neglected and overlooked the closed crab technique..I think its because i skratch hamster and its more difficult to do that way..

On The other hand,The flaring crab(open fader) is so much easier hamster style..

  • amazing!

    were you ever in dmc?

  • These tutorials are so well explained and easy to follow , much love for taking the time to put them up :)

  • Excellent tutorial! Always good to see your videos! Very inspiring

  • God damn man, you don't know how long i've been waiting for your nxt tutorial! great gift 4 xmas :)

  • Does the cut of your mixer affect how you crab also?

I just bought cut lag spacers for my vestax. to eliminate that space of lag in my fader.

  • CREPE!!!!
