The Gypsies were CATHOLICS, while most of the groups you mentioned ended up joining the Church anyway, to the point that pagans became members due to political advantage, even some popes were gay, and women had more rights than any other religion gave them. The whole "burn the heretic" was invented by an agnostic German Emperor Frederick II who only used the church as a political tool. Before that, the Church's only punishment was being vegetarian.

And Shinto was used by the Japanese military during WWII as their justification for conquest, so that makes them no better than the Spanish using Jesus as a reason to invade the Americas. Taoism and Buddhism prevented China from westernizing during the late 1800-early 1900s, forcing the people to turn to either greedy bastards (Chiang Kai-Shek) or radicals (Mao) for help.
