Darwin also lived a long time before DNA had been discovered, which is one of the major facts used for the theory of evolution. We also know of many other human type primates with out tails that walked on two legs which have gone extinct.
Darwin had the original idea of evolution, and is a respected individual for it, however he had no where near the evidence we have now that confirms to a very high degree the theory of evolution.

The girl is pretty strong here! But if she had read Dawkins' latest book "The Greatest Show on Earth", I think she would have done even better. For example, what would be very useful here, would be the analogy to a crime scene, when the detective doesn't have to have a video tape of the whole crime taking place, but all the clues (fingerprints, body temperature, footprints, etc) pieced together can produce extremely precise estimate of what had happened.
