  • AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3

  • I just saw them today in Ottawa it was awe-some !

  • are they father and son?

  • @Ryoma0227 yes

  • Had the pleasure of seeing these two perform live in Millennium Park in Chicago a few years back. World class musicians, for sure.

  • A token of affection to a revered friend. An amazing visual ballet, i enjoyed as an accompaniment to the melody.

  • very nice regards from varanasi

  • very nice Regard from varanasi

  • This father son duo is amazing

  • But I'll tell you something, this is pure fusion. Morover Indian violin is played sitting down as correctly stated. And this is not Hindusthani Classical Violin or by any way Carnatic and does not resemble any of Indian tradition. So I must ask they should not played in front of the Gateway of India at the least. If anyone listens to Pandit V G Jog one can only understand what the true Indian spirit is and what he had created.

  • @DeepZKarz

You have no idea what you are talking about. This is Carnatic raaga Gowrimanohari at its best. Enjoying music is the true Indian spirit. Tradition is just another word for haters and hypocrites!

  • @flashrules I absolutely agree with you!

  • Respect... from Algeria :)

  • Kids like that one should be the one taking the spotlight in the music industry, not fucking justin beiber. If your looking for a definition of talent watch this video.

  • don't say "standing ovation is not the indian way." in fact, naturally and scientifically, when the body is aroused by a stimulant (in this case music) it has the natural urge to expel energy. standing ovations are the most popular way of showing gratitude at the theatre, in musical concerts, etc. mostly because your personal space can really go one way....up. stand up and expel the energy caused by in this case amazing and passionate music. standing ovations are universal.

  • What a Great show of Karnataka Music. We need to salute Sri Purandaradaasa who invented it for whole world. All the best to upcoming artist Ambi

  • super -super-super

  • beauty of indian classical music awesome.....

  • I haven't any idea of their itinerary. It was by chance that I was told they were performing at that time and was seated front row and to the right side.

  • Appears to be a celestial combination on earth by these two Iconic Instrumental

musicians and stunning tonal quality of Violins unheard of.

A family of iconic musicians well respected and appreciated by one and all not only in India but abroad.

    Great musical experiencee.

  • drbsr: I entirely agree with drtomr about saying please, thank you or sorry. In India, we express our appreciation with our body language, smile and gentle clapping. In fact ,in the west, if some one offers a cup of coffee you have to say "please". Thank you means you don't want it while in India the otherway round. " I would like it". Simply when one of those words is mentioned, it carries a real sense in India. In the west they are vfery loosely used, may mean nothing.

  • could listen all day.thanx

  • am I crazy or do these violins have 5 strings???!!!

  • how did this even get thumbs down?

  • Saw them live yesterday in NJ. The energy and skill was beyond most I've experienced at a concert.

  • @VerdiniStudios where in NJ i live there and am so upset i didnt get to see this! any idea when they will be in the philly area?

  • The new state of Indian music if it is indian at all! The guy definitely is the Indian version of Yanni!! Good technique alone isn't good music!

  • @achatterjee1920 whoa, wait a minute! at least he isn't an embarrassment touring around singing ridiculous pop music like his brother! I'm embarrassed for South Asians every time I hear of "the voice of the theme song for the tv show 'Heroes'"

    Nonsense!

  • what an audience !!! It deserved standing Ovation !!

  • mille mercis pour cette video. from france

  • Amazing!

  • just fantastic!!!!!!!

  • This is excellent! Who are the accompanying artists?

  • Previous comment was directed to Paulmathew001. = )

  • As a white American, I bow with admiration and respect. What does race have to do with it?

  • Awesome!! The Indian Violin Legend With His Son. Hmmmm....... Awesome!! :)

  • Simply Amazing

  • Just WOW! True class. Legendary musical family!

  • WOW WOW WOW ! :))) Is he his son ? Seems he had received a proper training :)

  • it's just mindblowing! just an observation - i thought i heard a note out of scale at 0:11.

is it intended or just my untrained ears?

  • @CodecMe Yeah there was an note out of scale but it happens a little after 0:15. 0:11 is just a tad bit pitchy.

  • Maximus Excelente.

  • Fantastic that is called a true open air show

  • That's just...amazing...look at those bows fly across the strings!

  • BEAUTIFUL!! :D

  • Amazlng

  • son los mejores que maestros ojala huvieran personas como us

  • WOW!!!! AWESOME!!!!!!!

  • they both are so good together

  • We cant say its wrong to say it resembles Kapi, kapi has all the swaras that come in gowrimanohari

  • saw programme yesterday on Doordarshan.....awesom

  • Saw the performance in DC yesterday. Amazing!!!!!

  • superb combination..

  • Thank God for a Great Father and like son. Bravo!!!

  • i had seen a vid where ambi says that he will become violin......... and with all his dad blessings he did it. thats really great to see both you guys....love ya...mauritius

  • absolutely fantastic!!!

  • AWESOME!!!!

  • yeeeeaaaaahhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is gowrimanohari not kapi. this is definitely not charukesi. it has 2nd gandharam unlike charukesi whcih has 3rd g. it is nowhere close to kapi.

  • i wont get so technical....but this is gowrimanohari

  • génial !!!

  • is the raaga gowrimanohari or kapi?

  • @utrocca its because of the heavy amplification and probably the means by which they recorded. But that aside the technique is superb.

  • @utrocca it's electric violin through a guitar amp, that's how it should sound

  • I wrote that in response to 'seruppadi's' comments ['Where's the standing ovation, morons? Indians are some of the worst when it comes being an appreciative audience.'] This may be due to Indian audience's culture treating classical music as a spiritual system which may not go well with boisterous applauses of the kind that western audiences make often due to a psychology of the crowd to raise a chorus, even if some individual listeners really were music deaf to the real beauties of the fare.

  • This so cool! I am jazz vioin player and I like this.

Listen the desapered violin player "Juan Reynoso". It is a person who never studied music and despite this he played and composed a lot of music inspired in some popular music from his land! is not like this but I think that we have to share music from every part, because we are all humans and music is the language of the world!

    Saludos!

  • this is so beautiful!

  • Where's the standing ovation, morons? Indians are some of the worst when it comes being an appreciative audience.

  • Indian style of 'grateful appreciation' !

  • @seruppadi I think we as Indians bow with respect and appreciation.

  • @seruppadi hey. are you sure that's the end of the performance?

  • @seruppadi If what you are saying is true, India might not have this rich culture and Arts

  • @seruppadi standing ovation is not the indian way of showing appreciation.... Our ways are more subtle.... For example, we dont say "please" and "thank you" and "sorry" as much as the westerners do, but the sense of gratitude and apology are more genuine in action.... So, stop jumping into conclusions and ranting like this....

  • @drtomr zabardast "pwnage" yaar. :)

  • @drtomr Whatever we don't do is not the "Indian way of doing something", isn't it? Does the same logic apply for everything that's wrong with India? Like bribing the police to escape a hefty fine on the road is the Indian way of 'paying the price' for driving errors?

It's as if standing ovation is a completely alien concept for Indians. Remember Madras? What the spectators did when Pakistan beat India in a test match in 1999?

So, educate yourself before lecturing about the "Indian way".

  • @seruppadi Have you ever been to Indian classical music concerts in Madras? I've been to some and played in some as well. No where is there a standing ovation.... We don't have to ape the west. Your example of bribing policeman is just out of context here. And yes, what we do AND what we don't do are our Indian way of living. And you don't need to teach us. The people who have enough sense to buy tickets to a L.Subramanian concert will know enough to appraise him too. U don't have to teach them

  • @drtomr Ape to the west ... nice bowing, and position shifts ... that's straight up classical western playing my friend ... don't let the notes fool you ... if you dislike the west so much ... but I can understand your dislike of the west, geed, materialism, no direction, etc generally speaking. However, we (human) are all apes!

  • @drtomr You would know best about the "Indian way"...but.....

I get please and thank you from my Indian friends.

You must not live in America.

That's the American way no matter your heritage.

  • @shaan2585 Here comes another presumptuous asshole. Why don't you offer this advice to all the hungry and homeless people as well? "Close your eyes and meditate, your hunger will disappear."

Now take my advice instead: open your fucking eyes and see what the hell is going on around you. Marx to Mozart, many on all areas have achieved so much without your stupid meditation.

And btw, If you really want stamp some authority your comments spell and punctuate things right.

  • @seruppadi meditation is all about helping dumb ppl like you become great ppl like you mentioned

  • @varunmittapally Well said.

  • @varunmittapally Are you stupid or what? Those great people didn't know what the hell meditation is. That was my point. And you turn that around to score a cheap come back? Try better.

  • @seruppadi sry it was supposed to be for @shaan2585 my mistake

  • Comment removed

  • @shaan2585 This "fact" is shocking indeed. If filling the stomach is the first priority exactly where does your stupid "fact" fit in?

I know more about meditation than you probably imagine. How come you're so sure of what I know and not know? Knowing is different from believing. Besides, just read your own arrogant replies "you don't know this, you don't know that" haha. Pretty humbling? Bowing down to suck our own dicks are we?

And why do you think I'm some white guy when I'm from Madras?

  • Comment removed

  • @seruppadi And, I thought you as an illiterate white guy coz I have seen countless illiterate white guys commenting like vomitting under great indian classical videos, and your comment matched very well with theirs'.

  • Comment removed

  • @shaan2585 Oh, so they bow down in respect eh? Suddenly the musicians are kung fu masters and the audience their pupils? hahaha. Well, fine, did they bow down? I've been to several concerts in Madras myself. People do applaud if not give a standing ovation.

So no, this is not what happens in India (as if India is some small township and this moron knows everything about whatever happens in all of India). Really, is this what meditation does to you? Make you sound like an arrogant imbecile?

  • @shaan2585 No one said anything about Western classical being a standard. All I said is "where's the standing ovation?" It's just an expression to mean "where's the appreciation?" So again, if standing ovation is suddenly not an Indian thing (read the Mahabarath: especially on what the people of Hastinapur do when Arjuna demonstrates his skills with the bow and arrow).

Because I question this audience's muted response I become a non-Indian? At least check my profile you idiot.

  • @seruppadi Finally, you did question the audience I understand and that's fine. Just that you did it in an awful and disgusting way, You are generalizing smoothly. Like, if that certain audience was full of deaf people then INDIANS ARE USUALLY DEAF. The only deaf and plain dumb here is only you, having zero understanding of specificity and a worthless brain acting all irrationally.

  • love those rhythms.

    thanks and blessings.

  • Beautiful

  • It is delightful!!!

  • Great sharing. I am truly inspired by the father-son duo. Great coord from the percussionists.

  • He is a gift from GOD to India........Felt like crying... At the age of 16 when all boys watch RAB NE BANADE JODI, here is a boy who can bring heaven to earth.........Wow.. All the best for him......its Charukeshi raagam

  • dude, its not charukesi... its gowrimanohari

  • mpdnsrgm of Charukesi = srgmpdns of Gowrimanohari. Hence these two ragas get identified one for the other. The base pitch (or Aadhaara sruti) is the pitch where the piece comes to a rest. This is not there in W Music, hence both the Raagas coalesce when played as a scale of Western music.

  • man of all instruments I love violin and

definitly the father and the son and even the mother of the son kavitha krishnamurthy have that prodigy in them

  • Excellent....

Is there a DVD available on this live show ?
