I am using a Dremell 4000 with the sanding wheels and disks but those little things goes bad fast and they are expensive as heck, I have already used 8 drum wheels and 2 disks and they only come 2 to a pack at 4.00 $ a pack, and only have done 2 bend pipes on the runners, by the time I finish I might spend close to 80. bucks.
@87mmm - The Dremell is a great tool but turns too fast for polishing bigger items like the TPI runners. Even using the air die grinder with smaller sanding attachments turns too fast for polishing. If you do not have a drill press and hand arbor, try use a 1/4" electric drill. You will achieve excellent results, and use less product making the job a bit cheaper. I must admit, these runners did require an extensive amount of good old hand work before I started any buffing. Good luck.
The TPI runners are difficult to polish & require a considerable amount of hand work. I finally discovered that using small 1.5" disks in a hand arbor mounted in the drill press did speed up the hand work before moving to the large polishing disks. Having a variety of small wookworking profile sanders also helped out. Porter Cable makes a very nice one. I spent a considerable amount of time just on this tubes. I have being looking at your Videos and they are very helpfull but at the end of your 3rd tutorial you show your TPI tube runners poliched, and I am trying to do the same, and having some dificulty because of the angle bend on the tube, do you have a tutorial video on how you did the TPI runners tubes on youtube and if you do what is it under. what name?. for me to look at.
@mike40sm - Thanks for the good comment. I did not polish or sand between the fins. The effect is only whatever the polishing wheels could achieve on their own during the polishing process.
