They (Alexi, Roope, and Henka) all have endorsements with ESP guitars. They get their guitars for "free", advertisement, and a small percentage of every signature ESP sells. In exchange, Children of Bodom MUST play ESP guitars and say they're good. It's in a contract they signed.
Now, in Synergy, Alexi and Roope can freely use their Jacksons, cause they don't have that contract for Synergy.
@jeleopard they dont have to play esp all the time. metallica is esp's poster children and they use gibsons, jacksons, esp, and they used to use ibanez live so they could smash them
Metallica has MUCH more money than Children of Bodom. MUCH more. More than likely, Metallica has a different contract. ESP makes their customs, but they're not endorsed like Bodom is.

Alexi's Jackson was stolen in a concert and he contacted jackson and he asked for another model..but since his guitar was custom made jackson said that it would take long..that's when ESP entered and said to Laiho "As long you both play and promote ESP guitars you will get them for free" So they agreed.. ;)

Theres a list compiled by people who have worked live and in the studio with Alexi and Roope on the CoB forum, you can look it up yourself. Neither of them ever had signature models with Jackson, nor did they ever use Japanese models. They used custom shop only until 2 of Alexi's 3 RRs were stolen, after which he signed with ESP. Roope did shortly after joining CoB as well.

Sure, Alexis does have a distinctive style. But Roopes style is somewhat like Alexis...and then some. I have never seen Alexi shred like Roope, yet. Still...they both fucking kick ass.
Personally i favor Alexi's style, however now that he is incredibly famous he kinda stopped getting better, like hes not as passionate about it anymore. Anyway Roope is underrated i agree.

the biggest thing right off the bat is he's started using a lot more gain than he used to. I read in GW that he's shattered his shoulder and fore arm a couple times, that may have something to do with his playing. he's also drunk constantly. But his recent bleeding ulcer has scared him kinda sober, so who knows maybe he'll get back on track. Roope's great no doubt.
Roope is underrated. Alexi this, Alexi that...but never is my homeboy Roope the topic of conversation. Anyways, these guys are fucking geniuses when it comes to composing music. @shinmuerte The reason he gets so much praise for Alexi is the fact that he is completely self taught, which while that didn't use to be uncommon (Hendrix and Van Halen are self taught) you don't see it much anymore. Plus he was only 17 when the first COB album "Something Wild" came out.
Roope is very good though, he's great in Stone and COB.

Are u kidding me seymour duncan he never used seymour duncan if you did your research you would know that Alexi in his early days used a RR24 Jackson with a ACTIVE EMG 81 pickup; But it got stolen at one of his concerts (probably cause he was so dam drunk XD) he currently now works with ESP and LTD and has a custom made pick up from EMG that is Non- Active (Passive Pickup) in this video he was using one of his old jackson customs that does have the EMG active 81 hope that helps jungemitball!!!!!
He never used an RR24, your research rapist. Do some yourself. He also never used EMG 81's.
In his Jackson Custom Shop guitar he used a Jackson pickup, an J50BC with an JE1000 booster. (no longer produced)
He then used an HZH4 in his first Scythe Customshop ESP guitar with an MM04 booster kit (alexi sig boost kit).
Not a long time has he used Seymour Duncan, but he still does. Blackouts. He does have his EMG sig kit, but he doesn't use it. As long as he advertises for it EMG is happy. BLACKOUTS
Guitar hero requires fast fingers. Real guitar requires even more speed and dexterity on top of that. Dragonforce has a fan club of 12 year olds and the only reason theyre considered metal is because they play fast. Alexi is one of the best Ive ever seen and owns herman lis ass.

Roope is a better guitarist, but you gotta keep in mind that Alexi sings at the same time, which is kinda hard ;)

Sure, Alexis does have a distinctive style. But Roopes style is somewhat like Alexis...and then some. I have never seen Alexi shred like Roope, yet. Still...they both fucking kick ass.

Personally i favor Alexi's style, however now that he is incredibly famous he kinda stopped getting better, like hes not as passionate about it anymore. Anyway Roope is underrated i agree.

the biggest thing right off the bat is he's started using a lot more gain than he used to. I read in GW that he's shattered his shoulder and fore arm a couple times, that may have something to do with his playing. he's also drunk constantly. But his recent bleeding ulcer has scared him kinda sober, so who knows maybe he'll get back on track. Roope's great no doubt.

Roope is underrated. Alexi this, Alexi that...but never is my homeboy Roope the topic of conversation. Anyways, these guys are fucking geniuses when it comes to composing music. But everybody knows that already so I am simply wasting my time. Only Im not because thses guys are awesome and deserve every bit of credibility available. XD I LOVE YOU ROOPE AND ALEXI! (Yes, I did put Roopes name before Alexis.)

They are all talented a shitload, and are always kicking serious musical ass, but imo roope and alexi are equal to each other. Alone i don't think they would do too well, but together they make people bow to them, lol, it's just one of the many facts of life. XD

@shinmuerte The reason he gets so much praise for Alexi is the fact that he is completely self taught, which while that didn't use to be uncommon (Hendrix and Van Halen are self taught) you don't see it much anymore. Plus he was only 17 when the first COB album "Something Wild" came out.
Roope is very good though, he's great in Stone and COB.

Are u kidding me seymour duncan he never used seymour duncan if you did your research you would know that Alexi in his early days used a RR24 Jackson with a ACTIVE EMG 81 pickup; But it got stolen at one of his concerts (probably cause he was so dam drunk XD) he currently now works with ESP and LTD and has a custom made pick up from EMG that is Non- Active (Passive Pickup) in this video he was using one of his old jackson customs that does have the EMG active 81 hope that helps jungemitball!!!!!

He never used an RR24, your research rapist. Do some yourself. He also never used EMG 81's.
In his Jackson Custom Shop guitar he used a Jackson pickup, an J50BC with an JE1000 booster. (no longer produced)
He then used an HZH4 in his first Scythe Customshop ESP guitar with an MM04 booster kit (alexi sig boost kit).
Not a long time has he used Seymour Duncan, but he still does. Blackouts. He does have his EMG sig kit, but he doesn't use it. As long as he advertises for it EMG is happy. BLACKOUTS

Guitar hero requires fast fingers. Real guitar requires even more speed and dexterity on top of that. Dragonforce has a fan club of 12 year olds and the only reason theyre considered metal is because they play fast. Alexi is one of the best Ive ever seen and owns herman lis ass.
