If you're trying to figure out the best value for dollar between models you should compare cars of the same year, 2007 RS4 vs 2007 S4. Then, the $20,000 diff is justified. You don't compare it with a car that's 3 years younger, especially since, as they point out, you can now get a 2007 RS4 (which i did :) for about the same price.

To eliminate or reduce the oil consumption, you have to stop using the cheap oil the Audi dealers sell. Only use Amsoil European 5W40 to fix that issue. It also will dramatically help with the turbo-charged cars to drastically reduce sludge and varnish.

I'm sure the international shipping and duty fees on a motor oil would be expensive. You'd have to do a large order to offset those fees to make it worth the hassle. This stuff helped me avoid an engine rebuild from oil consumption in a previous car. I love this stuff.

I got the S4 because of the lighter front end. it handles very well. for $1500 you can chip it and get 410hp. rs is 420hp.. the weight differential puts the s4 over the top when chipped.

HA! my 1993 s4 has that same annoying arm rest issue! audi seems to have hit the snooze button on that issue for the past 18 years. I havent sat in the 2011 s4, but my 93 has the best interior ive ever sat in, one of the reasons I picked it up, even with 230k on the clock. rattles are present at that mileage, but everything still works, and it rattles less than my mom's 2006 mazda 6 wagon with 60k on the clock.

um depends what you want in a car? where are you mostly going to drive it? do you want the luxury of an audi or would you sacrifice that for more speed? are you planning on doing any aftermarket? where would you buy it from a dealer or craig's list/ ebay? what year are you going to buy? these are just a few of the questions you should answer before buy.

speed wise the 2.8 is faster and you won't have to deal with turbo lag, but if your going with a B5 i might suggest looking at the s4 - 2.7 twin turbo its a lot faster but you are looking a a decent increase in price. as for other cars around the same price as the a4 you could look at a 2000 GTI - has the same 1.8T engine, not much else comes to mind now good luck - keep in mind that with a turbo you can do some easy upgrades to increase power.

the s4 can be found for about 8000- to 12000? don't know if thats too much. and what i meant by the turbo is that if you buy the 1.8T it is easier to increase the power in than a naturally aspirated car. you will often find than the same upgrades in a turbo car will have more effect than they would in a N/A car. you can get the 1.8T "Chipped" at certain places and it is a relatively cheap and easy way to find any where from 50-100 extra hp (600$)

i was told by my dealer that audi rates the s4 at 333 hp but independent tests and consumer reports have shown that the car is pushing close to 390hp. with ecu tune (chip) you can go onwards of 400 + hp, especially running the vehicle on high octane fuels... like the ones they have over in Europe with 96 or so octane
@cheaniggachea I highly doubt that the S4 is underrated. The 335i is only a few tenths behind the car to 1/4 mile and 0-60 times. The 335i is rated at 300 hp. The Porsche Boxster S can do 0-60 in 4.3 seconds and that is only rated at 310 hp.

um depends what you want in a car? where are you mostly going to drive it? do you want the luxury of an audi or would you sacrifice that for more speed? are you planning on doing any aftermarket? where would you buy it from a dealer or craig's list/ ebay? what year are you going to buy? these are just a few of the questions you should answer before buy.

speed wise the 2.8 is faster and you won't have to deal with turbo lag, but if your going with a B5 i might suggest looking at the s4 - 2.7 twin turbo its a lot faster but you are looking a a decent increase in price. as for other cars around the same price as the a4 you could look at a 2000 GTI - has the same 1.8T engine, not much else comes to mind now good luck - keep in mind that with a turbo you can do some easy upgrades to increase power.

the s4 can be found for about 8000- to 12000? don't know if thats too much. and what i meant by the turbo is that if you buy the 1.8T it is easier to increase the power in than a naturally aspirated car. you will often find than the same upgrades in a turbo car will have more effect than they would in a N/A car. you can get the 1.8T "Chipped" at certain places and it is a relatively cheap and easy way to find any where from 50-100 extra hp (600$)

@CoolCucumbersGaming how fast u wanna go ;) I've been doing 230km/h with my A4 1.8T -03 when turbo kicks in it's a bullit.. still drinks little gas in everyday driving... so it's in my point of vew 1.8T is better..

the 3.0 litre v6 tfsi is much faster than the 4.2 litre v8 fsi,
i was told by my dealer that audi rates the s4 at 333 hp but independent tests and consumer reports have shown that the car is pushing close to 390hp. with ecu tune (chip) you can go onwards of 400 + hp, especially running the vehicle on high octane fuels... like the ones they have over in Europe with 96 or so octane

@cheaniggachea I highly doubt that the S4 is underrated. The 335i is only a few tenths behind the car to 1/4 mile and 0-60 times. The 335i is rated at 300 hp. The Porsche Boxster S can do 0-60 in 4.3 seconds and that is only rated at 310 hp.

If you own an audi s4 and have access to a dyno you can prove it to yourself. This was something told to me by the assistant manager of the largest audi dealership in ontario. i told him i was in the market for an s5, and thought the s4 was too slow. Why build me up on car that costs 15,000$ less when he can make an extra 15,000$ and go along with my claim...
