I knew absolutely nothing about the classical guitar until just recently. Grew with my dad being a rock guitarist. I didn't realize the amazing stuff I've missed out on all these years! Absolutely amazing stuff.
Felicitaciones Lorenzo.
It's amazing how economic his right hand is. It hardly seems to move, yet technique, speed, dynamics.... it's all there!!! BTW, just found another video of Micheli on the net, playing Llobet's 'Variaciones Sobre Un Tema De Sor'.... Enjoy!
yes this recording was mic'd too close giving his wonderful tone a plunky, metallic sound. :-( I first heard him on his Naxos/Castlenuovo Cd and have been a fan ever since.
his sound is metalic, as you say, to interpret the briliant character of the Prelude, otherwise it would be similar to the second movement of 'Cavatina'. Micheli does not study: he makes research: therefore, he play thus!
Alot of the percussive sound is due to the way the performance was mic'd - the microphone was too close to the guitar giving it a metalic sound. Check out his first Naxos recording of all Castlenuovo-Tedesco music, it is sublime.
who is the composer? i guess this isn't out of first hand...great performance indeed. Always respect 2 people who give their live for their instrument!
Wow, I was only familiar with Stanley Myers' "Cavatina." Pleasant surprise

Excellent performance.
He plays guitar like he is making love to his instrument. Now, how can anyone go wrong playing like this. That is if you can play/feel as he does.

excellent guitarist. also listen him play concerto in D op99 by C. Tedesco one of the best.
