haha a crowd like this of non-throwers just want stuff that looks fancy and has big movements... speed and technicality just puts them to sleep ^^ its hard for them to appreciate difficulty... but from one thrower to another, you do kinda "suck"... but you were really fluid with your break-away thrown tricks... the revolution gets a 10/10 ^^ just looked right. keep it up, try different yo's YYJ's tend to be bulky, but you definitely got it

You don't need the c rings or the shield it's not recommended, mineral spirits are okay for cleaning, you can also use lighter fluid or rub it with alcohol, after that use the lube and play...

It all depends on personal preference. I like the normal configuration that uses double o rings, but you may like the hybrid more.

Hybrid means half o ring and half starburst. The starburst side has those little plastic bumps.

If you don't have much experience with the different response systems, you should start with the all-plastic yoyos by yoyojam. They are cheaper than the metal ones, $15 vs $40 and they also give you a chance to figure out what shape and response system you like the most. So you can get the lyn fury to find out if you will like the normal hitman, which is identical except that it has metal rims.

I used shims, a kk bearing, 100% poly string. It really helps if you take apart the bearing and clean clean it in mineral spirits to get all the oil off of it, and then only add the smallest ammount of lube to it before putting it back together

Shims only widen the gap in the yoyo, so you won't notice much of a difference when you throw a plain sleeper. However, they do help with tricks (like the one at 2:00 ) where you layer a bunch of string around the axle.

yes.. simple trick will make more crowd, and it will be more crowd if you play with speed.. i have win my talent show by only playing fast elihop, fast boing2, fast skin the gerbil etc.. so just do it realistic ^+^

Make a list/routine of all the tricks you want to cover, so you don't have to pause and remember what to do next.

Have one or two back-up yoyos in case your primary one becomes tangled.

Get a friend to film it and put it on youtube.

I think the really good thing about this is the way you slowly build the audience up, almost fooling them at the beginning, by showing them progressively more difficult tricks. They think they're going to be entertained by watching your simpler tricks, which look pretty impressive anyway to a non yoyoer, and then they get absolutely blown away! Nice tribute to old school at the end.
