It was Haji Shamas that brought this group to England. They stayed in Nelson for 6 months. Haji Shamas regularly organised Qawwali mehfils at St. Mary's Church Hall. I had the privilege of listening to this group several times in Nelson.

My friend brought this group to the UK in 1982. Unfortunately both Ghulam Ali (Lead singer) and Ashiq Ali (Thabla player)have passed away. The group is now lead by the other harmoniam player. They are based in a town close to Faislabad but the last I heard of them was a few years ago.

Just amazing! Brings back memories, I saw these, Ashik Ali & Ghulam Ali qawal live in Manchester, England back in 1982. Wow that was an amazing performance. One of the gretaest ever qawali who sadly never made it big. Thank you for posting this on you tube.
