  • Who is this cat TWP883? Allyn Johnson is one of the best pianist period. By the way he happens to be my brother. You obviously don't really know what swing, nor good music is. Not to mention he is one of the best human beings you will ever meet. How about you come down to U Street in DC and see for yourself. CV

  • My Diamond in the Rough is Walter Norris. Not only the best "unknown" but prob the best all together, never sold out. Never had time for promo or anything else. Just spent his life developing his music to an incredible rare, no bs, level. A real success story.

  • @hornjazz I heard Walter Norris with the Thad Jones / Mel Lewis Jazz Orchestra. Wonderful player.

  • Excellent performance!! Very impressive!!!!!

  • THANKS TWP883-LOL!

  • Who is the Best "Unknown Jazz Pianist" on Planet Earth? Weeelllll- deep breath - Sato Masahiko, Michael Cochrane, Ozone Makoto, Hal Mabern, Kikuchi Masabumi, Rod Williams, Marc Cary, Steve Scott, Enrico Pieranunzi, Hal Galper (yes, I'm serous), George Gruntz, John Hicks, Julian Joseph, Vernell Brown Jr, Shionoya Satoru...

  • I think almost every major city has these incredible musicians locked away in them, that you always were sure would one day get discovered. Now, they have to be under 12 years old for anyone to take notice of them, while the people who really poured their souls into it.. who worked at it despite the fact that it never really pays off, other than the reward of the music itself, wind up in videos like this. Incredible musicians we never heard of.

  • @nycbassist : I agree wholeheartedly...I estimate that in any group of say 1 million people, there are at least 6 or so incredible players...jazz & all the other genres......

  • yeah, Its pretty original, he definitely knows his stuff,

  • Lots of notes, not really saying anything.

  • @TWP883 it would be saying more if the piano sounded better

  • @FLCL2010 Yes, how long since the piano has been tuned & voiced? -Peter

  • I like this, its very cool

  • JVG: indeed!

  • the cuban flair that the piano introduces in the song is fantastic
