  • ALL the great bands from London have got a Jones in them.

    Rolling Stones = Brian Jones

Led Zepellin = john Paul Jones

    Sex Pistols = Steve Jones

    The Clash = Mick Jones

can't think of any more, hahah

  • 34 years after the performance this can still give me goosebumps.

  • the only band that matters!!!!!!!!!!

  • The best band ever!

  • R.I.P JOE STRUMMER

  • Man if Death made a deal with me saying if I took a time machine and went to this show, but then dying right after the show is done, I'd be totally up for that.

  • @Boogieboy138 that is exactly what I was thinking if i had one wish it would be to see this show.... hey is there any other recordings of this show besides capital radio janie jones and garageland???

  • @Boogieboy138 Fuck yeah!

  • drumming from 1:11-1:18

    enough said

  • @jackpfree

dont you mean Mick's guitar solo from 1:07 - 1:13

  • i should've been there..

  • if passion is a fashion , strummer is the best dressed man ever .....

  • best live band ever

  • 1 of their best numbers! An extraordinary band - they have real jewels and a lot of a-b-s-o-l-u-t-e-l-y non-energetic, greyish stuff at the same time! IMAO

  • the only band that mattered .... ever

  • The best damn band ever!

  • the only band that matters (the clash)

  • UNTOUCHABLE!!!

  • thumbs up if you love Joe's dancing @ 3:00

  • Love the Clash. Saw 'em on the Combat Rock tour. You do know that with out The Stooges and Television, the London scene wouldn't have started right? Ramones UK tour sealed it. Read a book

  • im reading johnny rotten's(frontman of the sex pistols) autobiography and he's always dissing joe strummer on like every page, yet joe strummer is much more talented.

  • @PBANDSNOW they did,nt get on .personally i think rotten was jealous that the clash were stealing some of his bands fire

  • Best band ever

Joe Strummer = Punk Rock WARLORD.

  • This just has to be the best gig they'd ever played; I haven't heard them all, but this has to be near the top.

    Purely amazing.

    R.I.P Joe Strummer :'(

  • live in liciester is there best gig,,believe me download it, steal it ,you must have it--1977 and the clash totally rule,,,who were the pistols

  • @calboy64 who were the pistols...a bunch of talentless teenagers who created punk

  • @PBANDSNOW one band/act can`t launch a genre

  • @1960unclemort thats like saying nirvana didnt invent grunge, or Galileo didnt invent the telescope

  • @PBANDSNOW please remember the ramones where formed before the pistols their influence is just as vital.

  • perhaps, best band ever?

  • Comment removed

  • this is my idea of a Clash gig, there on fire here,.exciting stuff,.you just dont get bands any more that generate this much entertainment ,.. R,I,P JOE

  • I love when he starts improvising on the lyrics

    Awesome stuff

  • theres no such thing as capital radio 2 it's just played live

  • You can feel the passion! But then they got there the hard way

  • This...is...real...live...PUNK!!!

  • why couldnt they play this fast in their recordings?!?!?

  • because this is capital radio two. Capital radio one is played slower.

  • ooohhh ok no wonder, thanx man

  • This isn't capital radio two. They recorded different versions over time. This is just a live performance of Capital Radio. The added lyrics are joe's improvisation and its amazing.

  • Is this footage from a ten years on from the start of punk rock programme shown on channel 4 in 1986 and presented by tony wilson comprising of footage mostly taken from his 1970's show 'so it goes'.?

  • Yeah,i think it was called "The Way We Were" and as far as i know,it can be found on several torrent sites.

  • great

  • how good were these guys before the egos set in

  • this is why i do not understand why the sex pistols and that sid vicious and nancy spungen hype's all about when clash, ramones and the stooges are so good, perfect debut by the way i love the varieties of music in that album.

  • Malcolm McLaren promoted the heck out of the Pistols and propelled their marketing machine...The Clash were a better put together and talented group of course, but the music industry is full of groups with meager talent and great promotion. The Clash got all they did on their own merits and talents...that means a lot.

  • Remember, the media, the press, are quick to to do ANYTHING to bring in business true back then and before that and true now.

  • capital radio sounds great live i fukn love it

  • this is one of the only cases where washing up is a good thing. crack

now thats a hell of ad rug

  • I was in a garage band back in '81 thumping drums like Topper, songs like this were raw and fierce - where have all the garage bands gone - viva The Clash

  • Damn this sounds great after a while whitout Clash :D

  • joe strummer would shit all over rancid

  • Musically yes, but he was friends with Tim Armstrong and was a fan of the band, sooooo......

  • tim armstrong from The Transplants

  • haha armstrong the new strummer? fuck no, he's not fit to shine joe's shoes

  • in my opinion, Capital Radio One sounds much better live

  • Comment removed

  • 1977 spielten The Clash ihre Songs noch mit Schmackes. Schön anzusehen!

  • there is a tower in the heart of London-with the radio station right on the top...

    you know where---in Euston....

  • Two of my favourite songs in very good quality considering their age...5*

  • Too right - man that takes yer back - the Clash were the bollox - R I P Joe x

  • Awesome video.

There is more bands influenced by punk. Nirvana is definately not one of them.

Look up Rancid. I would say they know whats going on.

  • the lead singer of rancid wishes that he was born joe strummer

  • people call the lead singer of rancid ( tim armstrong) the new strummer but he cant be replaced

  • In my opinion, the singer for rancid sounds like a dying pig. He shouldn't breathe the same air as Joe Strummer

  • well everyone has different opinions it all depends on what you like

  • ya i kno wat u mean

  • Nirvana was surely influenced by punk but that doesn't mean they are a punk band.

  • T H E C L A S H I S T H E B E S T B A N D.

  • Best Band Ever

  • wow in 0:52 paul sucks with the bass

  • he was only playing it for 6 months at this timeso he is an expert he he

  • nirvana punk??

  • wow wow wow wow wow. great footage. why the fuck did i have to be born in '89 *slits wrists*

  • lol ... i was there that night ! prob best i ever saw them !

  • i envy you so much

  • ...As do I.

  • chesk out the clash doin londons burning at victoria park london ...lol was there as well prob 2 nd best i ever saw them ... ok fella tc

  • wow!

  • I like these late 77 shows when Joe would drop his guitar and just be a lead singer...

  • I don't think Punk's dead.. I think it's just..hiding, for lack of a better word.

People aren't as politically aware nowadays and I think that reflects on the music, which is really too bad.

I think that if people started to care and make a scene, then Punk would come back. Haha, someone should start a band NOW. Fuck the Government the right way. Riot because you know something's not right! But I don't think Punk's dead, because The Clash will never die to me, along with other bands.

    -Kayla

  • I'm determined to bring punk back

some way or another I will

  • nirvana? please go listen to that and never listen to the clash again.

  • how old are you? 7?

  • never been too big on cap 1

but janie jones is a top 5 all time

  • The Bass Lines Are So Great, Paul's a Genius

  • Yes and when the band was created, he never played bass before.

Yes he's a genius (sorry for my english i'm french and I do my best xD )

  • Punk is dead.

This was punk with energy, power, controversy and meaning! The Clash from '77-'79 will never be equaled!! LONG LIVE STRUMMING STRUMMER!

  • that just backs up the point punk is dead.

I mean if greendays the best punk band, what hope is there for punk with them as the "Frontmen" of punk.

  • punk will NEVER die

  • Punk isn't dead, beacuase the Clash aren't dead.

  • wow that was well worth a watch wasnt it

  • Close to 60 and it still gives me goose bumps, chills, heebeegeebees, shouts, long live rock and roll. God bless Joe !!!

  • ...and I remember seeing them in Manchester and coming home covered in spit! It mattered not, it was a great time.

  • fuck, I was -8 years old in 1977 when they're giving their angriest concerts full of energy...

  • Hey everyone! I've just done my first music video on youtube, i would love to get your opinions on it and the song. Thank you! :)

  • Wow - that's great !

  • What a muddafucking electric performance what energy put into a song.

Joe strummer is and always will be a legend.

  • in which album can i find capital radio??thanks!

  • Super Black Market Clash.

  • capital radio (live) - from here to eternity

capital radio one -clash on broadway

capital radio two - black market crash

you should get them all since they are each a litle unique but its about the same

+ one of the best songs ever

  • One of my fauvorite Clash songs.

  • Yeah Mick! (1:05)

  • haha totaly agreed. i was rockin out at that part. go strummer at 2:27

  • Watching this..is seeing a totally fucking genius in action.

No different than early Elvis and list goes on.

I miss rock 'n' roll. You have to be from the garageland...not a university, NME music course for 'Dire Straits' fans.

I'm just so glad some of this shit, has been captured on camera. Love the camera steaming up!...thats a true sign.

    Live on!!!!!!!!!

  • Totally!

  • Is This A Clip From The Granada TV Show "So It Goes"?

  • Joe had a brilliant mind, he just never learned how to lie. He just stood up and said what he thought. The most honest, the most brilliant, the most missed. RIP Joe, the most influential influence and the best fun ever at a rock gig

  • joe kinda reminds me of jello biafra in this one, just singing without his guitar..

those two are definitely the best punk rock performers ever!

  • there'll be no one else like joe

  • my favorite footage

  • wow, what a great performance! the clash rocks!

  • he's in love with rock n roll

  • Man Topper KICKS ASS!!!! Check him out at 01:17!!! Greatest band of my green years

  • sorry but that ain't topper its terry chimes, topper joins later

  • It´s Topper .

  • yeah, it's Topper, Terry was sacked right after the album was made.

  • top class vid by a top class band init ....tbh

  • LOL xD JANIE JONES SONG LOOKS SO GOOD WHEN IS used DRUGS XD

  • I love "Capital Radio", it's so great to see a video of it.

  • I used to go out with a guy who worked for The Clash & I saw this from 1980 on, from the wings, the sound board, the light tower, etc.I'm 51 now,& I might be old,but this NEVER gets old.BRAVO!

  • joe strummer besides lydon, the best frontman in the british punk rock. R.I.P. Joe.

Janies Jones was the first song of The Clash that i listened and this version is the best, one of my favorite songs from one of the best bands of all time

  • Joe Strummer was the best frontman ever! 110% of powerful energy live!!!!!!!

I saw Lydon live with P.I.L. at least a couple of times, all were great shows, but, PLEASE, DON'T COMPARE!

We Will Miss You JOE :(

  • It´s ironic that one of the reasons they split was Mick having a go at Joe taking over the stage... Joe owned the stage...

  • top track, top band. say no more.

  • the ONLy band tht mattered ;) x fukin best band there ever'll be

  • R.I.P. Joe...one in a million. vinyl lives.

  • jones had the best "1-2-3-4" ever haha

  • @luciano1977 the clash are the best band ever ,but dee dee ramone did the best 1-2-3-4

  • joe looks like he's about to EXPLODE from all the energy in the room! :D

  • Grandi Clash!

  • Two of my favorite songs! Though I prefer Capital Radio 2 from Super Black Market Clash. And I think Janie Jones is probably the best punk song ever.

  • its not on the UK version. i own it. you can get it either on black market clash or the essential clash. theres also a different version called capital radio two on super black market clash and a live version on from here to eternity.

  • whats the name of the song??

  • Capitol Radio One. It's on Black Market Clash in the US, I think it is on the UK version of their first album
