  • super tight..!!..super clean..!!!

  • the one person who disliked this probably just realized they suck compared to him.

  • i find that doing anything more than 3 hits on a single bass pedal is really difficult at fast tempos and sounds a bit weak. but for quick doubles nobody needs 2 bass drums! teddy has just shown this!

  • I can't someone disliked this vid lol.

  • Double bass pedals are for drummers who are just not very fast. That is why I have to use a dbl pedal. Look at JoJo Mayer - single pedal sounds like a double.

  • you have two feet so why not use them...... double pedals aren't lazy

  • @catnip4life55 Because everything doesn't call for a double pedal and why use it just for the sake of?

  • @bluephi182k too get a better hit,

  • @catnip4life55 Good excuse

  • @bluephi182k damn straight

  • @catnip4life55 Wow so you just like excuses

  • plus there are just somethings you can do with a double that you just can't do with a single.

  • I can seriously listen to you as I sleep. So clean and not annoying like some drummers

  • What are the sticks hes using? I like the length.

  • Teddy plays Pro-Mark. Go check out his signature stick - I'm not sure about the details on it.

  • i dont think i have ever seen such a clean drummer.

  • yamaha oak'? yamaha absolute maple? yamaha recording? tell me please!!!!!!!

  • This is from his drummerworld page...

"I use a combination of birch and maple Yamaha drums. I have three Maple Absolute floor toms—a 12" on the left and a 14" and 16" on the right. I like deep drums, and maple gives me the warmth and sweetness I want. But I use birch rack toms—an 8", a 10" and a 12". The birch toms sing more and cut a little better. I tried using a birch bass drum, but I switched back to a Maple Absolute for the warmth, bottom, and heaviness."

  • That is his old set up from years ago. The drums in this video are most likely birch, however on current gigs, he plays the new Yamaha phoenix.

  • I want his hands and his feet..

  • I want his kit!!!

  • I honestly think that Teddy is a smooth drummer. Good licks, good pocket fill and killer foot speed. He pays close attention to his set-up just to have a good "pocket" as he calls it. any group that has him as a drummer is lucky. American Idol better be thanking him for coming back. the band would suck without him.... well at least not be near as funky

  • Teddy is great, no doubt , but i think Aaron did a kick ass job too with the idol band

  • not forgetting to mention, his strokes are so damn clean holy shit

  • As awesome as it would be if he ditched that gig for something more enjoyable for us to listen to - You have to take in to consideration how much exposure he's receiving from a gig like that, not to mention how much money he must be making. Although, Teddy doesn't seem like one that would let money get to his head.

  • We all want certain drummer to play certain gigs, but they have to pay their light bills. Or else they cannot practice anymore!!

  • yeah, but i think its a good thing when that level of musicianship is presented & appreciated in pop music . it can only raise the bar.

  • how do u do those things he does on the hit hat at the begining

  • Yamaha 4 life

  • He's awesome!

  • yay he uses promarks!

  • how do u get that bass tone and also the snare

ive been looking for that fat fat bass sound

  • Wat if u still fast as hell but u just use toe

  • What does "wooden" mean?

  • it means there dosent sound like theres a variety of timbres. Theres some other awesome shit of Teddy groovin in a little club. That stuff rocks. It could even be the room hes in that makes such a ded sound.

  • yeah, I understand you, man. I probably Ted's biggest fan, and I admit I've seen/heard him play better than how he did at md fest '06. But hey...thats the way the story goes.

  • true. Teddy seems to become activated by the music he plays with. like all natural musicians, we accentuate tone and all the articulation possibilities from within the music. theres no doubt Teddy is a genius at making the music live. If you take that music away tho, you get Teddy in the studio, playing like this....

  • Teddy uses a single pedal...using a double isn't lazy and it's understable is some do use one. If you want to get faster with a single practice the heel toe technique. The bottomline is not whether you use a single or double pedal..it's how it sounds on the track or live

  • its not heel toe, its just normal heel up playing, its not hard either

  • @lguynn7 teddy dont use heel toe he uses slide like heyward nd others its easier but needs more energy

  • oh my! tt's fast!

  • do u really think teddy would use a double? or any gospel drummer? its near impossible to find some that do. 2 b honest its like cheating cuz u can do triples on one foot. y use a double then? in my opinion it makes u lazy... teddy ur sick

  • Teddy is the man, it looks like single by the way his right leg is moving. The double pedal is good for metal drumming, and those who are too 'lazy' to practice because we have office jobs, families, and other social obligations that prevent us from spending hours on end practicing double or triple technique with one foot.

  • Yeah, his foot is off the chain! But naw, no double pedal man!!! He's playing that yamaha single dragon, double chain drive pedal. Usually he has the puresound speedball beater on there too. Go TED!

  • nah man check out john blackwell that man is a freggin beast DAMN

  • Oh man i already know! He's a friend of mine!

  • ta bien perro el teddy

  • does he use a double pedal ? i don't understand what he's doing with his bass drum, he's very fast, very good drummer !!

  • no he has two bass's i think

  • hmm no he juss has a fast feet :P:P

  • he is so fast, wow

  • Think about that same set up there with a slap bass drum head popularly used by rock drummers.......killer sound!!!

  • maaaan those are THE BEST sounding drums ive ever heard! anyone know what setup he uses?

  • what a groove, I love listening to him

  • Thats what im talkin about!

  • maaaaa clean nice and sharp great drummer

  • Alot of the time when an Idol is performing I catch myself paying more attention to how great Teddy's tom's sound and how great he plays his set, he's very inspiring.

  • what kind of set is that? it is amazing. i want it!

  • he plays on yamaha drums and he has his own drum stick by promark

  • its a yamaha of some sort with all zildjian cymbals

  • He actually plays Yamaha Birch custom drums...most of the time. Sometimes you see him playing Oak custom. He's doing zildjian as well....zildjian K's man!!!!!!! woooo!!!!!

  • yea, the yamaha birch recording customs with zildjian k's.

id kill for like one of the toms.

i dont like his bass drum sound very much tho.

  • If that was put in a studio situation and you were hearing the mixed version then your knees would go weak at the sound of the bass drum. lol. Is that not the Oak custom? Prob not just looks similar. I love how his toms are tuned properly and he lets them sing. Sounds similar to my toms...just a little bit better!

  • Yamaha al the way!!

  • this guy is a LEGEND. wow!

  • The current House drummer for American Idol and former drummer of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.

  • this guy should make his own band he should be playing for some good musicians not britney spears and christina aguilera

  • he plays on american idol

  • Teddy's done so much dogg, he doesn't need his own band. Rickey Minor's taking good care of him. Aint nothin' wrong with drumming for Christina and Britney either!!! Christina's vocals are off the charts, and britney puts on a DOPE tour! I'd love to play for ANY of them!!! You better recognize!!!!! ha ha ha

  • anyone forget he played for Britney Spears and Christina Anguilera?

  • Who could forget that! He was britney's md man!!!! That band was sooo funky!!!! He played for them both when they were at the top of their game!

  • Incredible drummer I loved his performance on american idol with blake lewis.

  • Does anyone know what session this was from? It was about a year ago when he did this....im guessin' "dream girls" soundtrack??????????????????????????

  • it's not from dream girls its for a Jazz album, cant remember the name of the artists my brother was there....this was just the sound check....

  • oh cool, thanks man. Who's jazz album?

  • shoot...i started out as a country drummer (listened to a LOT of nashville stuff). I thought the funkiest i would ever get was by learning from a drummer named Eddie Bayers...now I'm learning from Carter Beauford and Teddy Campbell as well!

  • What makes Teddy Campbell, a cut above most other drummers, is how exceptional he reads music (drum charts).

  • You right man, but he doesn't read drum charts. He reads master rhythm charts. He received "on the job" training from Rickey Minor early in his t.v. show career.

  • Crazy-sick grooves here!

  • This guy is phenomenal.

  • blaccy iz good

  • hes the only reason i watch american idol

  • teddy is amazing!!!!!!! His foot foot speed is sick
