I never committed a crime. I never cheated on my wife (12 years married). I don't lie. I'm happy. And, by the way, God has never been a part of my life. Go figure. Empathy guides my morals, not ancient texts. You don't need a god, nor the fear of hell, to be good; in fact, such goodness as that is insincere.
Never committed a crime. Not one, not ever. Hmmmm I find that a little hard to buy into.Never did any drugs, never drunk, never stole, never lied, not one time in your life. Kinda hard to believe.
I never tried drugs, never smoked, never drank alcohol, and I never stole anything. I have lied in the past, when I was a kid, but I never said that I didn't. I said I DON'T lie (present tense), which is true. You've never known anyone like me? Really? Where have you been spending your time? (by the way, drinking isn't even a crime)
When you said you don't lie I thought you meant you were always like that your whole life. So, you did lie at least once. While drinking isn't a crime being drunk can be, depending on circumstances. Drinking alcohol can lead to drunkeness hence my point there. You made yourself sound almost perfect and I've never known a perfect person.Someone who has as high opinion of themselves as you seem to, I have met many such folks.
I find it very funny that you think these things make me sound almost perfect. Most of my friends and family are this way, yet you are the Christian (I'm guessing) and can't believe it. High opinion of myself? I was stating facts about my life, not opinions.
I am sure you think these are facts and not opinions. And, for the record, I don't believe you are perfect. Far from it. I think you are conning yourself into believing in your own self-righteousness.If the standards that Jesus stated and the apostles wrote about in their epistles are applied, you as well as I fall quite short of them. You said goodness based on belief in God is insincere. Few things are as insincere as the human heart no matter how much empathy one claims to have from there.
I wrote that being good because of the fear of hell is insincere goodness. Opinions are what I think. I don't have an opinion that I never did drugs, for example; I simply NEVER did drugs, which is called a fact. I never said I was perfect. I made my original post for this reason: I thought it was ironic that the pastor's kid who was talked about in this video was so troubled, while I, an agnostic's son, have never been in trouble. Try to comprehend what I'm writing, without the knee-jerk reply.
Wow, that reminds me of Colossians 4:5 Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one. We need to take advantage of every opportunity to tell others about Jesus, redeeming that time, that moment of passing by. We nay never cross their path again. Onward Christian Solders.
woe to those who are at ease in zion.the zeal of God has not eaten them up.they love in word and tongue, but not deed and truth,Judah hath turned to me fiegnedly saith the Lord.all who love Jesus with only part of thier heart are hypocrites, lukewarm, and God must sick them out of his mouth.
its good to see how so many are helped to salvation, which God alone can do,and how we try to do our duty and sometimes see fruit of repentance.all who love Jesus will live eternal happy
You know who really gets blessed when they go out sharing faith? The person sharing the faith! I don't try to guess to see if someone truly got saved...that's between them and God, but my walk rocket boosted when I started being bold and sharing the best of the best news ever to be told! You can't be a couch potato Christian when you are out talking to the lost about Yesu/Jesus Christ our Lord :D ~ and you don't want to be either!
