One thing that makes this fight special is how you really do feel bad for Obi-Wan. He's more confused and sadden at what's happened rather then angry or vengeful. He even blames himself for what's happening with the line "I have failed you Anakin..I have failed you". Lucas may not be the best at dialogue, but this scene was well done.
has anyone noticed how Rick Mcallum is always trying too sell the film or sell everything to do with it i know hes the producer but somtimes he goes OTT with it he over reacts with it too much.
@charlieiscool1000 His enthusiasm is admirable, if a little overplayed. But that's also the point of this documentary: to sell the Herculean group effort that goes into making films as technically and as artistically complex as Star Wars. I know other people find it off-putting, and there is a political dimension to it, but I also like his positivity a lot.
@Balian49 I like your sarcasm, actually! But I disagree. In part, anyway. It's a very indulgent fight sequence, but that adds to what's going on here, in my opinion: you have two people fighting when they really should be settling their difference another way (indeed, it should never have come to this). Look at the scenery collapsing all around them and they still trade blows. I find this sequence pretty amazing, myself.
@Assiman LOL! This documentary -- indeed, this very piece of footage -- indicates the exact opposite. It's special AND *visual* effects, it's art direction, it's storyboarding, it's production design, it's stunts, it's choreography, it's sound design and sound mixing, it's music, and, yes, it's acting.
they rotoscoped the lightsabers frame by frame trough the whole movie? i tought there is an easyer way.... fuck, 6 seconds of lightsaber rotoscoping with clashes takes me 45 minutes.... : ( (
@highbridge06 That's true ... from a certain point of view. The lightsaber duel in TPM was a spectacular highlight in a movie full of highlights (in my opinion). Tough to reproduce that. But I don't think the intent was to reproduce it. This sequence has more painterly compositions, and, in a way, more poetry and dark beauty. Just my view.
Yes ... yes it is amazing to think that hundreds of people worked for a one minute scene...and for that one AWFUL scene could have been saved thousands of starving children!
AT 0:23 in this is originally Senator Bail Organa would ask Clone Commander Appo What's going here? Appo There's been a rebellion sir don't the situation is under control I'm sorry sir it's time for you to leave. Bail Organa then says & so it is.
More like "The Making of One Scene from Star Wars Ep3." Nice idea, but since it was the last Star Wars movie ever, I wish they'd made a more thorough behind-the-scenes doc for the DVD.
LOLOL i have always wanted to know how star wars was made......because when you see those weird creatures in star wars you sometimes wonder in what jungle did they bring them from?
good movie, but this scene was quite forgettable, was broken up way to much w the emperor & yoda duel flipping back and fourth like most star wars final sequences, lucas should have dedicated more screen time to this MUCH anticipated duel, and yeah I know its sci fi but the whole floating on droids over the lava was sooo corny, I guess im old school. Its shoulve been more like the final fight in Crouching Tiger w the 2 chicks, No distractions just 1 on 1 swordfighting.
At 00:23-00:30 is when Clone Commander Appo says to Bail Organa There's been a rebellion sir don't the situation is under control I'm sorry sir it's time for you to leave

Eh. Over-choreographed green screen schlock. Nice soundtrack though.
The way they're fighting makes it look like they rehearsed the whole fight before they started fighting....oh....wait...

what everyone was waiting for was good story at first place.
Freddran 11 months ago
The success of Star Wars was due to a collective effort that helped cover up his flaws. It seems that Lucas forgot that when making the prequels.

I can't believe the director that made the original star wars made the horrible prequels-the visual went to waste, but part 3 is alright.

All they really needed to do to make this a great movie was remove one person from the process, George Lucas

It took thousands of hours to make these movies.
It shows, because all 6 episodes are the BEST!
But I would like them to do a remake of the original trilogy, the special effects, and battle scenes are uncomparable to the prequel trilogy.
