@nhrandomish can place two opposing mirrors where you do your hair. that's what I did when learning and it helped.

mostly what made it click for me was just picturing in my mind and learning the shape of my head, lol. I've been trying these hairstyles for 3 months now and I've gotten so much better at it, but I still have trouble with spiral staircase and the other one with the braid that wraps around a few times down the back.
