Kashif was one of the hottest artist/producers during the eighties. He was labled Arista's "Prince". Throughout this period he worked with Evelyn Champagne King, Lala, Lilo Thomas, Whitney Houston, Glenn Jones, Freddie Jackson, and Melissa Morgan. This song has to be one of the best songs from the early eighties this is when R and B music began sounding clean and replacing live instruments with electronics.
reminds getting ready to go out on Friday or Saturday nights with this on the London pirates or a Streetsounds compilation in 1982/83 - amazing days- probably off to Windsor Safari Club, Jacksons in Staines, Regals, Uxbridge, Lyceum or Goldmine
This is Simply one of the many great Artist that is to always be Remembered. Music is from within as it has been said every thing sings even the bird to the command of the creator and so do we. I really miss those days and there coming back again. Thanks for the post Kashif is going into my archive as on the great ones......Awesome ooh Lover turn me on i just got to have ya!!!! move your head, not get on up and dance, get your early day exercise feel good about yourself i love you all BLESSING
KASHIF HAS WROTE AN ASPIRING BOOK CALLED " THE INTRODUCTION TO THE MUSIC INDUSTRY" THAT HAD ME KNOWLEDGING WHAT I"VE LEARNED AND HO TO HANDLE IT... THANK YOU SIR...
I GUESS, ALL OF US FROM THE OLDER GENERATION OF THIS ERA, WILL NEVER FORGET THE BEST... {MUSIC} MAKES YOU CRY, AS ALL OF YOUR TEEN YEARS & GOOD FRIENDS, ARE ALL GONE....
i first saw kadhif,s name on george benson,s in your eyes album! inside love ( so personal) which he wrote is awesome! i remember paul gambaccini playing one of his songs on the radio mid 80's .he is one of the backroom boys behind major acts who gets over looked ,sadly like so many in the industry especially back then! today it,s different, talent is sadly lacking and people like kashif, ray parker jr dont have any successors to the throne! sign of the times i guess!
this is one of the best top to bottom albums of the era,,,,everything could have been a stand alone hit-----right in there with Marvin Gaye "After the dance album"
This song introduced my music education and my ears to a gifted musician, songwriter, producer. Man this brother was and is a great teacher...and all around cool person.
Pops used to pump this one dropping a lil n**** off in second grade. Why don't they make songs like this now? Lack of talent/originality or good old-fashioned, corporate greed? Kashif was the truth!
This was the first song from kashif I heard on the radio. I just had to buy it right away. The LP has, I Think, Two other great songs," Stone Love" and "Don't Stop My Love".
I still play these songs today on my ipod. They take me back everytime I listen to them. .
This time period of music was when love and romance was still alive in music, whether it was slow or danceable,Kashif.Lilo Thomas,Melba Moore and some I can't recall now.......what an era!
Loved his grooves. nothing like it today. You can actually hear his sound in the artists he produced Whitney, Lillo Thomas, Evelyn King, Melba Moore, Howard Johnson, Melissa Morgan, etc..
i used to be so in love with him! I had posters on my wall. I played the single so much it turned white!!!LOL . Thanks for posting....brought good memories back :D
I can remember the very first time I heard this track and I knew I was hooked from that moment on. STILL playing it in my truck's CD player to this very day. WAAAAAAY ahead of its time when it came out, Kashif had already left his "calling card" miniMoog bass synthesizer bass lines on hits from Evelyn "Champagne" King & Howard Johnson(So Fine), but when his debut album broke....that was it. Such good music from BLACK in the day. Kudos for the post.
When I was in high school, we ran a no huddle offense during a night football game. We played this when we had the ball (among other songs) and we scored 56 points. Out offense moved in rhythm to this song.
Kashif's music rocked back then in the disco era and is still mentioned as one of the best talents in R&B...great song still "e" "e"!!!
