Thanks so much for posting this song. I looked it up because I just learned the lyric is by Dorothy Parker, one of my favorite writers. (Music by Jack King.) And how delightful to find it sung by my dream girl!
REGARDING her singing, I am surprised that she didn't sing more ~ I'm not saying she was fantastic vocally but she was far better than other actresses who tried to sing and really shouldn't have. She should at least have done an album or
Her voice is sweet, but you can't say she was a great singer by any means. She sure was pretty boy! She and Frank fought all the time. It eventually ended their short marriage.
This song dates from 1929, and the words were written by Dorothy (Cosmopolitan Magazine) Parker. Parker also helped to write the screen play for "A Star Is Born" 1937 Janet Gaynor and Fredrick March starring.
"Ava was such a gorgeous woman", my mom has always said and I must agree with her. Beautiful collage of pictures; especially the one of her as a senorita.
She may have had a propensity to want to be lazy, but when she got down to work, Dorothy Parker didn't mess around.
One of the great lyrics out there.

*sigh* I know what you mean! I really admire her, love her films. Too bad she was overlooked as an actress :( *also by herself* because she was good!
Also at singing - wouldn't it have been fun if she and Frank sang a duet? :D
Well, thanks for the vid Muirmaiden!!
