  • Pay attention that the magnet, when installed on "rotor", do not touch the "stator" otherwise you will have again the alarm (even if it seems to move well, check it): I used sandpaper to obtain the result and to remove the glue in excess.

  • Thank you, it solved my problem. But for everybody: pay BIG attention when manipulate the magnet! I broke one just because i was cleaning the seat and i leave the magnet on the table at about 20cm. It has been attracted and has broken. Othwever i glued on the seat the two biggest pieces (obviously it is not possible to repair a magnet) and it works! Maybe it could also work with just one.

  • Opened mine, found the magnet and managed to breake it in two....

Bought Loctite 638 and cleaned all parts. Glued 1 part of the magnet back on, waited 7 hours and glued the other part of the magnet back on. Had to use tools to hold it in place sinsce both of the broken parts absolutely did not want to stay next to eacother...

Waiting 12 hours and put the throttle body back together and all seems to be fine :D The real test is the summer in some months, it is cold here nowdays :)

  • Does glueing the magnet back in place stop the clicking noise ??

  • I had the same problem with volvo v40 that has the same gdi engine. I have done everything as you described. Now i have steady idle but engine revs only up to 4000 rpm, above that cuts off and misfires. Any idea what might cause this behavior? Thanks

    Vojo

  • MANY THANKS From Germany !!!!!!!!! I got the same problem to my 01 Pajero Pinin GDI at 46000 km. It was a 2 Hour job and saves me 350€ . I glued the magneto with JB weld and btw i close the damn egr valve to get the heavy intake sooting stopped. MNY TNX

  • Does someone, what type of magnet used in the GDI throttle body, ferrite or another?

  • @coggo015 I'd say it's ferrite but it's in a bent shape so not easily replaced if broken. Not sure it matters if it's cracked as long as most of it is still glued to place. Epoxi resin works fine as glue, if you get one that can cope with higher temperatures and first clean the surfaces with Acetone or similar.

  • I love you that car as done my piggin head in for months, can't believe a bit of glue has resolved the liters of extra fuel have been using, cheers buddy if I knew where you live I would come o your local and get you some beers

  • you sir, are a god ! Thank you so much, I have the same problem on my 02 GDI.. only done 11000 km and i believe it has never been cleaned, so I hope i got THIS problem and nothing worse.. But the symptoms are just like in the first 15 seconds of the video with the strange throttle.

  • @Tomzitb I got more problems this spring, the magnets was OK this time. The engine warning came on and the engine had been "jerky" for a while, then it lost some power and fuel consumption went up. Removed the air inlets and cleaned them out from soot (a thin strip of steel in a drilling machine removed a lot of soot in the channels) but found no real problem. I also changed spark plugs and after that the motor seems to be running fine again (knock on wood). Hope the magnets are your problem.

  • @4905354 oh im hoping it's just the soot in the throttle, if it still doesn't work after that then I will play with the magnets... Going to open the bonnet on the weekend and she what's under there.

  • ah svensk också såg det nu :)

  • Nice video!

I have a problem where the car doesnt go over 4000rev/min. Does anyone has a glue?

  • Problem solved.Used from Bison a metal-metal glue, not 150 grades but only 100.But it's ok now. Cya.

  • Great job! Yes, I found this issue too,and I have to say that my Pinin is working fine without one magnet. But is not a good ideea to leave it like this. I tryied to glue it with Bison but it wasn't good. Can you give me a name for a good quality glue ?Thank you!

  • @laurr29 Sorry but I don't think we have the same stuff in Sweden as you do in Rumania. I found a heat resistant Epoxy resin that seems too be working fine. Ask your local hardware store!

  • you have to clean all the "multiple de admision" (sorry i dont know how to write it in english ) not only the throtle

  • Tack för detta. Har just tagit bort spjällhuset, får se om det är magneten och den går att limma.

  • I am having a similar trouble.

I had the usual idle trouble. So I cleaned the throttle body BUT without dismantling the unit, as it moved almost freely (but not so springly as the one shown here as 'good': BIG HINT!!!)

Well, my car run fine for about 200km and then I got the engine error light. I guess it is a matter of lack of smooth spring action on the trhottle body but I am curious about why it worked for some time (a week) without problem and now, about 8-10km from home, it fails.

  • I have the same problem.I'll try.Thx very much

  • Hope it solves it, keep me informed!

  • hey i have the same ticking sound, mine idles really rough goes up to 2000rpm them will go down to 300rpm or even shut off but the check engine light doesnt flash

  • Sounds like the early stage to me.

  • well its been going on like this for about 3 to 4 months. i am going to check if the butterfly in the TB is sticking weekend.

  • so how did the repair go mate, did the dodgy idling stop ??

  • Yes, this worked for me! Hence calling it "solution". ;)
