  • Horribly condescending, self righteous and illogical song.

  • @thehammerismypenis You must not understand this song.

  • @thehammerismypenis They were advocating that those with plenty should not forget those who have nothing and should give to them. I wish people took that message more seriously today.

  • This is the BEST version of the song!!

  • @Stinkyfart personally, i think this is the ONLY version of this song. i refuse to acknowledge the other(s)

  • ehhhhhhh its okay im 10 :P

  • Who is the singer at 1:16, it bugs me that I can't remember.

  • @skb519 Tony Hadley from Spandau Ballet

  • Who is that guy at 3:27? It looks like Meriadoc Brandybuck.

  • @swistedfilms Rick Parfitt from Status Quo

  • do they even celebrate christmas?

  • Why must you be so negative? They were working together to help those unfortunate people in Africa. What is wrong with that? You should be ashamed of yourself for putting such ugly, hateful words on here.

  • WONDERFUL, YES PLEASE MAKE MORE CHRISTMAS SONGS ABOUT DYING NON-CHRISTIAN AFRICANS WITH IMPERIALIST UNDERTONES!

    gg 1980s

lyrical correction (for transparency's sake!): "Feed the part of the world that celebrates christmas and pray to your christian god for them"*

  • One of My Favorite Holiday songs ! Takes me back to my younger days !

  • boy gorge ftw

  • Love Midge and Bob!

  • No one can ever beat originals! Glee did a damn good job though!

  • @HoneyBeelove100

I know their heart's in the right place but Glee should REALLY leave some songs ALONE. I'll stick with this original and Band Aid II but Band Aid 20 can go to hell!

  • @HoneyBeelove100 Yeah I'll have to disagree on both counts. You can in fact beat an original (See Ike and Tina Turner covering Proud Mary) and Glee, in my opinion, did a terrible job. :)

  • oh yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • And there won't be no snow in Africa this Christmas time.

Why?? There was fuckin snow in Africa once??

  • Bono had an epic mullet then.

  • All for nothing, 35 million more hungry Etheopean people.

  • this has been my fav christmas song for 20 years <3 it

  • Sorry Glee. You can't beat the original!

  • @TwistedSister09 beg to differ...I think Glee performed this much better than the original. Simply my opinion though.

  • @Irishborne You're joking right?!?!?!

  • @TwistedSister09 Spandau ballet

  • Sting. This is all.

  • Thank god it's them instead of you....

  • This is cool!

  • EPIC

  • This is one the best Christmas songs.

  • @Princess27007 The only good one I can remember..

  • This is one of my all time favorite songs... grew up listening to it, I was 4 when it came out !!

  • Is it really that difficult in the year 2011 to synchronize the sound with the picture?

  • Is it just me or is Boy George the only one that does not sound a bit flat? Still love the song.

  • @JCHein That's because Boy George is awesome

  • anyonme know who playing bass? John taylor?

  • 'I'm not afraid to say that I think Band Aid was diabolical.....In the first instance the record itself was absolutely tuneless. One can have great concern for the people of Ethiopia, but it's another thing to inflict daily torture on the people of Great Britain. It was an awful record considering the mass of talent involved. And it wasn't done shyly it was the most self-righteous platform ever in the history of popular music.' - Steven Patrick Morrissey

  • great song never got sick of this

  • whatever happened to Bono?

  • I'd love to see all these musicians get together again... what a wonderful group of musicians... true talent

  • @pbartolo

I don't know... I was thinking it was BOB GELDOF ???? So hard to tell since they are all almost 27 years older and look different....

  • @mlarson44

Paul Young starts the song with 'It's Christmas time, there's no need to be afraid'.... according to Wiki... But, I think it might be Bob Geldof at 3:32 .....

  • @mlarson44 That's Jon Moss of Culture Club and *supposedly* Boy George's gay lover. Anyone else? :)

  • @theUltimateBadass146 Yea, that's who it is... Thank You...

  • @mlarson44 Happy to help

  • @theUltimateBadass146 No "supposedly" about it, He was

  • best song ever

  • 10 people do not think that this is good music...........what is wrong with them

  • horrible song horrible to substitute justice and sharing of wealth with charity of the worst class BUT I LOVE BOY GEORGE!!!!!!!!!

  • Woop Christmas songs in June

  • os melhores

  • Might we see such a congregation of stars in the future? I know it's not Xmas time, but I can't help listen to this song every time I feel kind of down, it makes me rejoice.

I couldn't help noticing Bono is beside Sting of course, the greatest Conspiracy of Hope heads. By the way, Bono is the only star that survived those ages, the rest lives on the royalties I think.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! xxx

  • like it :)

  • Handsome young Paul Weller. God, I almost forgot how beautiful he was (he is beautiful now too, though). Very Beatleasque song in both tune and good spirit. I can't understand how modern celebrities take part in such projects only to get publicity, Wrong as hell. Merry Christmas,

  • @LadyStardustVertigo down in the tube station at midnight is my fave paul weller song . I used to and still love the jam Merry Christmas

  • I love that none of them are dolled up for the cameras. They all turned up to sing with no idea the cameras would be there. Now celebs can't even leave the house without getting dolled up cos the paps would and do go to town

  • I watched a documentary about this a couple of years back, and they were saying that when they were recording it and the came to the line "Tonight, thank god, it's them instead of you", the guy got really uncomfortable and was saying that he couldn't sing that, there was no way he could say something like that, but in the end he did because it's true, so many people don't care or listen because it's not happening to them, it doesn't affect them in any way so it's not their problem.

  • @Number1SynFan ..that "guy" is Bono

  • @OlszakAttack yess one of the most famous and generous people in the world

  • This is so hypocritical - all these stars are loaded with much more money that the rest of us. Maybe they should donate their own wealth - especially Bono...

  • @retronostalgic .

So these stars can't win. They get together to sing about helping others, and yet are criticised by the likes of you, simply because they used their extraordinary talents to share with others, and were rewarded for it. What should they have done- have the talent and never use it, like a lot of people? It seems if you are a celebrity, if you show compassion, it is questioned, and if you don't, you are bagged for lacking compassion. Famous people can't win with people like you.

  • @dhenderson1810 - I bet if it was white kids starving instead you wouldn't hear so much as a peep from Bono and Geldof as it wouldn't be 'politically correct' LOL!!!

  • One word to describe this song and performance.....extra-ordinary!

Reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas. It is not the hussel and bustle of shopping through the crowds, baking and cleaning or entertainment. All this is good, but too often people forget the CHRIST in CHRISTmas.

Christmas is about celebration of our Savior and for thinking and giving to the less fortunate, just as Christ did.

Wishing you all a very Blessed Christmas.

  • the were all so beautiful :)

  • i was born to late. can you imagine this today? Justin Bieber, Willow Smith, Cheryl Cole and Miley Cyrus? OUCH.

  • @CallieTG LOL - my kids (at least the 2 older ones, my baby is still into away in a manger!) and prob even my husband would agree with you but for me (and i remember buying the original) this is the most emotive xmas song of my lifetime and most probably always will be and to that end it can never be recreated by anyone, no matter how fabulous/famous they may be. The world will never see anything quite as phenomenal as this again!

  • @michelescoones sorry i dont know wether u missunderstood or i did but i hate justin bieber etc. i love this song.

  • @CallieTG they cant touch this song mark my words

  • @weatherallc05 i know thank goodness! ha x

  • @CallieTG they did remake it with justin bieber UGH

  • Today, more than ever, this goes to my Venezuelan compatriots, specially for all those who were and are affected by the month-long rainfall, hope never ends and we shall have a better new year than most of us expect!

    Feliz Navidad para todos!!!

  • Legal demais! Me lembro desse movimento na época! Foi paixão a primeira vista quando ouvi nas rádios e vi o clipe na TV.

  • best x-mas song ever!^^

  • The BEST of the Best chrismas song ever made in history!

  • Bono delivers his line so powerfully!

  • @sbubbb A lot of people have their different views on this line. What is yours? If anyone who reads this post have something to add please do. We were discussing this particular line last night and came to a terrible disagreement. So I researched Band-Aid and their history and to me this line was sent to the rich and most wealthy people of the world as a jab to their hearts or perhaps telling the rich that if the roles were reversed they ( they being the musicians) would let the rich starve.

  • @IHLGA

They would let them starve because in a world of plenty and with people so rich with more than could ever possibly spend or consume no human should go hungry on this planet, yet these people ( Super Rich) with hearts so hard would stand by and watch this happen. They are telling them thank GOD it's them tonight and not you because we would let you (The rich) Starve. Now!!!...That is what they were saying.

  • @IHLGA

It's either that or they are just snubbing all of those who have and trying to arouse some shame in those who fail to give to those who are starving, perhaps to open some eyes of ingratitude with a cocktail of cynicism /snobbery/ and selfishness.

  • LOVE IT

  • I clearly remember these days - it was the last decade of talent. Back in the days when recording artists actually needed to be able to sing. Now it's all garbage.

  • @Dar0922 not all

  • This is the ORIGINAL - always the best!

  • Oh and be sure to drink lots and lots of Coca-Cola everyone!

  • Who's singing second?

  • @Brzoz3k7 boy george

  • Listen you retards. Is the first singer duran-duran??

  • whose the first guy that sings and whose the guy that sings at 0.52 ???

  • @HerDailyHigh The first guy is Paul Young, the other guy is George Michael

  • Im glad I bought the 12" version of this song when it came out. Both versions are great. I did happen to see other versions and I hate to say it, but it will never sound like this one:)

  • When you look at this and then Band Aid 20 you think .... God how music has changed. All about commercialism nowadays, little respect among musicians unlike this, no soul, little imagination .... music needs revitalising!

  • @TheDarkFrontier Are you serious? These guys were always about commercialization! Why else do you think they'd do a promotion like this in the first place? They don't really care THAT much about the hilariously vague problem of "poor people in Africa". If they did they'd probably focus in on a real concrete issue and actually work toward resolving that real concrete issue. Being smug and singing a Christmas song with other millionaires isn't the same thing as a solution. It's good publicity.

  • @BandofSorensons

Yeah I am serious. Of course it was about commercialisation, otherwise it wouldn't fucking sell. But the proceeds went to Africa, not THEMSELVES which is what I was getting at.

  • @TheDarkFrontier The truth is the question about "where the money went" from the original "band aid" is a highly contested one. No one really seems to know exactly how the money money was spent and there is evidence to suggest that it ended up, as is typical with dumping money on African countries, with all of the wrong people. However, there is no doubt that this was a win/win situation for rich British pop singers. They still get good PR and that feel good sensation from "caring".

  • @BandofSorensons

At the time, nobody knew how controversial it would become. At the time it was seen to be a bunch of the world's biggest music stars coming together for a good cause. And your argument relies on the pretentious assumption that none of the artists cared about what they were doing. They would get zilch from the sales, so why would they be in it for the commercialism? Why would people suddenly buy their own records? There was no surge in sales because of it. People bought this one

  • @TheDarkFrontier At the time no one knew how controversial it would become because no one really cared to find out. There are many real organizations and experts who spend their whole lives toiling with the end of the economic development of poor nations in mind. We don't hear much about these people because they don't have the kind of public lives these stars have. Stars always benefit from ostentatious acts of charity because it gives them a good image and that helps sell tickets and albums.

  • @BandofSorensons

Once you present me with evidence that the success of Band Aid somehow increased ticket / album sales of the individual artists will I be convinced. However that isn't ALL it was for. Same as Live Aid. Freddie Mercury himself said it was 50/50 why they took part. It's a historic rock show that boosts their own rating, and it helps out with a very good cause. Obviously no artist will take part 100% to help out. I wouldn't believe any artist who said that.

  • @TheDarkFrontier I agree with you that the psychology is more complicated when you take each band case by case. I have no specific evidence to indicate any one of these guys made more afterwards, however, given the fact that bad PR always hurts sales, I think it is safe to say good PR can help. My real beef with these guys is that they don't really understand "poverty in Africa" and insofar as they don't get it, I'm not sure how much they could possibly really care.

  • I love this song! A new classic!

  • I used to think they sung "There's a man outside your window..".

But I do love this song :)

  • It's good to finally see wealthy pop singer really do something about all those damn Africans being poor. I mean they really do put a damper on Christmas don't they? I'm just glad we're all so much better and happy and such. Go hypocrisy!

  • I just want to say it....Merry Christmas and may love and peace fill your hearts.

  • absolutely fantastic song ever and ever...

  • Mullets. Mullets everywhre. D:

  • Hypocrisy!

  • 1:30 thumbs up if it looks like a younger Robin Williams!! :P

  • Why does this always have to buffer...wtf??

  • George Michael looks so young in this!

  • Last christmas, tears are not enough and this one are the best christmas songs i ever listening!!!merry merry christmas from Costa Rica and always try to be happy people!!!

  • I guess it depends on how you go about a project, but the original is so much better than the 2010 version. I mean personally, I think it sucks. The hodgepodge of artists/styles just kills the feeling of what the song is SUPPOSED to give. There are just some pieces that should not be redone, or redone with the main purpose of fitting as many different styles in as possible.

  • Sting looks like David Beckham in this vid.

  • Boy George sounds fantastic on this song. He made it a hit in 1984.

  • @bluedog101 He sure does!:)

  • 8 people need shooting :D

  • O Paul Young também marcou presença.
