  • how does engine breaking on that work? same s a conventional 4 stroke? or will it keep the speed like a 2 stroke?

  • sounds like a dremel tool lol !

  • has no engine sound! I do not like!

  • should come over here and do the tt, there is a new electric class and this bike looks pretty quick and would be competative

  • Get yourself over to the TT and see what a fast ride REALLY is!

  • Keep it up

  • Surely you can't complain about being 'hampered' by the dirt when it is (or was) an integral part of racing at Pike's Peak. Same for everyone.

  • who the fuck put a street bick on pikes peak!?!?!?!?

  • @montevideoGT bick?

  • @Bigboomer lawl... *bike :D

  • fucking terrible in the dirt

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh had to stop @5:00 can't take no more of that strangled cat noise!!!

  • WTH?? they're saying Pikes peak will be entirely an asphalt road by 2012?? NO WAY!!! :-(

  • @jeffLR91 yep gutted bout that

  • What a fantastic bike! Homebuilt? Must be a genius...

  • he missed every apex, I could have cut 2min off that.

  • @MrJetjoe lol at u...

  • this is cool chip. im sure to you its a regular thing but to us looks crazy ! does the rear wheel spin up like a regular motor ?

  • 13 minutes of bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz xD

  • by the sounds of it he's added something so they can here him coming.... a cat... ingenious solution XD

  • dirt section feels like more than 2.6 miles...

  • love how it sounds like the BatPod.

  • So... Is this basically what you do at the end of your racing career because it's either finish or die?

  • This is an epic fuckin' watch.

  • 240hp with an electric engine? wtf??

  • @JJSideshowBob It's a high frequency design 3-phase motor. Basically the higher the frequency for a given induction motor design, the lighter and smaller it will be for its horsepower rating. Have a look here: watch?v=2DwGx-QlEAQ

  • "Chip was hampered by"...um, maybe the very same conditions that all the other racers were hampered by?

  • Who is the fat bitch in the beginning of the vid holding the imbrella next to the awesome biker ? She is as ugly as a dogs anus ....

  • next year i think the track will suck and not even matter anymore, just like chip and his shitty little bike

  • @offitcock So, your bike is better?

  • @carukia i said that did i...

  • Huge balls for conquering the mountain in a car, Godly balls for doing it on a bike!!!!!!

  • Man, this is the craziest shit ever!! Even on the paved sections there is plenty of dirt scattered everywhere, I don't see how he keeps traction. Insane!

  • Tron

  • torque for days

  • its not a very appealing sound! rather have a petrol engine!

  • p.s. not all EV battery types use lithium, and in fact the best batteries don't

  • Electric is quiet, extremely quick, low on maintenance and zero pollution.....kind of.

Fact is 80% of the electricity in North America comes from Burning Coal. So they still pollute only difference is the exhaust pipe is remotely located at the powerstation.

Another thing: Lithium is a rare mineral and guess where the biggest known deposit is? Right where all the oil is.

  • @judgegixxer Question for you gixxer: Did you know that that it takes 7.5 kwh of electricity to refine one gallon of gasoline - enough to drive a Nissan Leaf about 30 miles without even using that gasoline.(or our Barham Motors Racing EVs 60-90 miles at highway speed, yes we're 2 to 3 times more energy-efficient than Leaf and out perform Tesla)

  • @judgegixxer whahaha retarded sound man... quiet...

  • whats amazing how he handle it on the dirt

  • F) In my opinion A electric motor winding out sounds awesom almost space age. I find those who get kicks out of loud noises need to understand that to most civilized people it's nothing more than noise pollution.

    G) The cost of fossil fuels and the pollution released is unacceptable to most people that give a shit about the environment.

    H) High output electric motors are much more reliable and hold thier value compared to a gas job.

    I) Traction controle has much more potential with electric

  • A) The electric engine consisting of almost indestructible parts. Costs almost nothing to maintain.

    B) Way more power displacement with electric motors.

    C) Electricity is an infinite resource. Via solar and wind.

    D) The battery technology is in it's infancy. The new state of the art batteries not yet to market are far more efficient than even lithium ion.

    E) Switching out a battery during a pit stop in a race would definitely enhance the racing experience.

    F) In my personal opinion a ele

  • @SupperStu72 half of this is all complete bollox.. and the other lot it just an opinion. Lets not even go into the precious metals required to make the batteries.

  • @SupperStu72 Electric cars are not going to carry on. Yes one day gasoline engines will be a thing of the past, but it will be Hydrogen not electric that replaces them. Like come on a average range of 150 miles then you need 10 hours to recharge. That is a step backwards not forwards.

  • @SupperStu72 Also say if every car out there was electric. Power demands will increase to recharge the batteries so will the need to produce more electricity and more batteries. Both processes which pollute to obtain. Even the creation of solar panels and wind turbines creates pollution. With electric we really aren't changing the level of pollutants we create.

  • great ride, how did you handle that power....amazing.

  • Gas engines can not compete with electric motors. Only a fool would defend loud gas powered 100 year old technology. Electric is the way to go. I can't wait to watch an electric bike wax a gas job. Just to shove a cork in the mouths of gas lovers. Their prehistoric minds are not welcome in my world.

  • @maryjane123rd It's not that most people hate electric it. Nothing wrong with it and I'm a car nut! Just that there needs to be fully proven and be able to be a daily source. It took a long time for the bombustion engine to prove its self and now same for the electric now. Electric cars isn't the way but hydrogen will be the future :D

  • @maryjane123rd

Guess what, you'll run out of electricity and we'll have PLENTY of fuel left.

Electric engines are awesome, but they just don't work in every day life. Or most forms of racing, because they don't have the range.

  • @maryjane123rd its true that petrol engines will eventually be a thing of the past but can you honestly tell me that this bike sounds anywhere near as good as a ducati......or a v-five honda rc211v.......or a yamaha m1.....or a v-eight....i could carry on all day. a motor that sounds great will always capture the heart over one that doesnt sound at all, efficient or not!!

  • This video has way, way too much leather ass. Why didn't they just go with the nosecam the whole time?

  • Dirt? That is very impressive.

  • buy a duster..

  • For an electric bike... it traveled quite a lot~~

  • could see the speed!

    would be perfect!

  • Hey, Chip, can you put your MPH on here? Also, keep this awesome video as it is; without music! Geat vid, brother

  • does that bike run on cats?

  • @mrgixxer100 lol!

it would be a good use for cats tho

  • @mrgixxer100

    lol :)

  • è vero che ha 240 cv ??

  • Idk how he rides bikes, he's gotta have HUGE balls to do that shit. lol

  • that dirt section had to be a little worrying at times.

  • Die Rückenansicht ist ziemlich sinnlos!

  • Is there any kind of traction control logic built into the power electronics? It looked like it wanted to highside a couple times..

  • grazie !!! chip yates!!!! fortissimo!!!!

  • Awesome ride. The future looks pretty extreme, I like it.

  • Crazy bike, crazy low-end torque. This is a real top superbike!

  • Puta merda!!!!

  • way cool....its about time, thx chip

  • Electric Motorcycle? Yes. Electric car? No thank you.

  • Amazing performance and video! Congrats. And the power...

  • I guess you never have to re-jet for altitude!

  • DANG.

Great Racing performance and great bike.

    Electric racing became cool.

and boy what a landscape. driving in heaven. coooool.

  • Way to go! Was really cool meeting you up on top. Can't wait to see you go at it next year! -Johnny

  • No power loss due to altitude.....clever thinking!

  • holy shit, the low-end torque that thing has is phenomenal.

  • So weird not to hear the stepped sound of shifting...

  • Would love to know the sort of speeds you got up to and also how long the battery lasts.

  • @Rob2009Derby I was thinking the exact same thing. If I had build, or was involved in the build of the superbike, would make as much info as possible available to the public. Thats how you get people interested and on your side. But I think they don't know the topspeed because there aren't any tracks long enough.

  • What kind of cameras did you use for filming?

  • Must be fun at the dirt ;)

  • Way to go chip!

What kinda tire were you on? Did they grove the center to give you more drive and brake in the dirt like a supermoto slick?

  • dude, way to go Chip, thanks for the video.

  • Great run! The only thing you guys have to worry about next year is another electric!

  • sounds like it isn't using all its power.

how much of the capacity of the battery was left after the trip?

  • Great race Chip! R-E-S-P-E-C-T-! Thanks for the vid Robert... cool perspectives on an incredibly challenging race. Glad to hear you are hooked & will be back next year!
