This was the first record I ever bought, when I was 14. It was a vinyl single, 45 rpm in a blue paper sleeve. it had a design that featured flying saucers for some strange reason.
This tune has always made me look in two opposite directions...back to the past..and ahead to the future. It makes me think about so much that I've ''wasted on the way''.But, as I look ahead,to the times to come...I'm reminded, through this song, that one has to make the most out of every moment as life is too special to ''waste on the way''.
this is one of their best! I never grow tired of it. That being said any song can grow tired if over and over. But hey over and overr can be alot of fun! nadou84 I know you'll discover other great songs. Thanks for posting.
Do you think it's normal ? I've been listening to this song everyday since I first heard it (at the beginning of last week)...and I'm still not tired of it. It's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Their voices are always so beautiful together, but in this song it's just a perfection. And the lyrics...I'm 25 and I'm thinking "maybe one day I'll envy all those dancers who had all the nerves...". I wish I was born in the 70's/80's...Peace everyone!
@nadou84 I just came across this song myself and listen to many times through out the day...but heres the joke when I came across it - it was on the Hollies reunion album I think done in 1983 or 84 Nash had rejoined the Hollies for a spurt. I love the harmonies from both groups... I think this harmony actually started when Nash was with the Hollies... they both sound great :)
@nadou84 Yes the 70's was a great time to grow up. Since you are still young, just make sure you heed the words and chase your dreams now, don't be afraid, otherwise you will be my age and looking back at all the time you "wasted on the way". I listen to this song alot as well. Take care
Best version I've heard so far. Love the guitar solo at 1:22. Just wish he would have played it out a little longer or done it a second time. That makes the song invaluable to me!
I absolutely love this song!! Thanks for posting this. I grew up with this, thanks to my dad. Brings back wonderful childhood memories..makes me sad..where the time goes. It's songs like this that really hit you deep inside. What a classic.
I don't find them painful to watch at all - I think it's awesome to watch them. Everyone ages, and they have done it as all of us do - different looking on the outside, but same on the inside, and with those amazing voices.
Looks like David Crosby got 'Wasted' on his way....to the stage!

If I could play guitar like Stephen Stills and he had a feather up his ass we would both be tickled.
