  • Una preciosidad....

  • As far as I know it is not main line and may be still at Crewe Works having further work done

  • @CliveRita Last I saw of it was at Crewe, next to Oliver Cromwell.

  • is she going to be mainline registered

  • i do agree with andy watson that the ROYAL SCOT is one of the most handsome steam locomotives that is preserved today ,infact i prefer the style of her better than i do the flying scotsman.

  • Great Video, 5 Stars!

  • at 6.10 I like how the driver is waiting to see if the level crossing booms come down and function properly,

so you have to be careful with track detection equipment and signals with these trains?

  • Now she's been sold, will she keep this livery? I know what it reminds me of now: The Rev. Awdrey's Skarloey Railway (as in the books, and on the Talyllyn.)

  • i am sure when i stood on the footplate at butlins the scot was more of a maroon which i thought a lot better than this colour that makes it look like a post office red post box its too bright

  • Thanks for a very good and enjyable video

  • That is one of the most beautiful steam locomotives I've ever laid my eyes on.

    Good show.

  • It's not so obvious at higher speeds, but going slowly it sounds quite off-beat to me. Does anyone else agree? I know it was a rush job to get her going, but I hope the valve gear can be adjusted to get her running better. However, if this is the first time it's run then that's not bad at all. I'll look forward to seeing it again.

  • Some great shots here! 5* Thanks for sharing - Mike

  • livery is all wrong - should be in lined pre war black - that would suit it a lot better

  • Yes, that would be a great livery, as there's already a BR green Scot, and the rebuilds never carried maroon (or even this kind of pinkish-red.)

  • The high pressure prototype Fury was rebuilt in 1935 in CRIMSON LAKE livery ( i.e. a deep colour ! ) . During and after WW2 Engines were in lined black as you'd a clapped out railway and engines ; without the resources to keep engines clean in fancy liveries . 46115 did run in the 70's in lined black and it looked very smart .I'm Sorry but that engine in the video looks a bit silly ?

  • I've checked up on this - it's down to David Ward at Bressingham , his attitude is that's how it's been for years and I'll paint it yellow or purple if I want , at least it's not a museum exhibit .

  • Yes, apparently he said he "wanted it as close to original 1927 condition as possible". Well, seeing that it wasn't built (rebuilt, if you want to stick to the LMS attempt to get round the accountants) until 1950, I think they'd need to be Time Lords to be able to do that.

  • some strange paint - I believe some people were quite shocked when they took the lid off the paint can .

  • lol, im a train and a doctor who fan too :D

  • I'm sure my colleague would be most offended to hear you say that. At the end of the day it was a management decision, Royal Scot has worn that colour scheme since she was first preserved (By Sir Billy Butlin) so it could be argued that she has worn that livery for far longer than the BR black.

  • @squeakyadam lol, a Purple Scot...that would be interesting.

  • What a fine locomotive! Thanks for some fine video shots!

  • The tender was only painted last weekend and there was no time to letter in time to meet its deadline, of running on a hertiage railway by Mar 31 to obtain its funding

  • why are the markings missing on the tender> just asking

  • I was behind it from Williton to Washford on this trip ( I'm on the opposite bank videoing it leave Washford). I'll be posting action from behind it on the 1110 train up Washford bank soon. Excellent stuff!

  • Brillant good to see her back in steam
