Seeing JJ do this live will straight up change your life. Well, seeing the band do anything live will; but if he does this song with the speech in it, you understand the level of "personal" this song is to him. It'll blow you away.
Makes every hair on my body stand tall....the Louisiana Bayou is goin away every day, goin to pay my respect and see Mr. RED in the am....Power to the people!!
When I heard this song, I could totally relate to it. Being from old school Florida, it breaks my heart to see what greed and bulldozers have done to the state. Those days are gone and I don't live there anymore, but I still miss it-skeeters and all. I can only hope in vain that the housing market does not rev up again down there.
I was fortunate enough to meet jj grey twice in flordia and in nashville... He was a very down to earth person and was happy to hear I turn people on to his music... Word of mouth is how he makes his livin so do what ya can to help...
On October 8th we will all watch "THE LAZY SONG" in honor of the greatest singer ever's birthday. Let's give him the best birthday present ever: the highest viewed video on YouTube!! Let's give him what he deserves and what Justin Bieber does not deserve to have!

i live about a mile from lochloosa lake.....and this song describes it perfect. ive spent 100s of hours on the lake. i hate to see how it dry it is with this drought. all of the boat ramps are out of the water and its jus depressing.
@MrGonefishin11 I am planning a trip to Orange lake/ lake lochloosa in about 2 weeks. I'm running a go-devil, do you think the cross creek is navigable. Also do you think I'll be able to launch at Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings? My best friend used to live on cross creek and we'd float down the creek to orange lake or idle up the creek to Lochloosa drink a few beers, basically just shoot the shit and enjoy the natural beauty of those lakes. Spent almost every weekend there for a good two years.
Having family on both sides of Florida I have fished from Key West, to Ponce Inlet, Mosquito lagoon, and Boca Grande. I joined the military at 18 and have been gone from Florida for almost 10 years. There is not a day that goes by that I don't smell the swamp, or imagine the feel of a bull red ripping line. It is so sad that millions of people out there can't relate to this song, and feel the emotions that it cause. I can't wait to get home!
I was just recently introduced to JJ Grey and Mofro, and they are now one of my favorite groups!! Thank you Dustyn for introducing me to some EXCELLENT music!!
Just bought my tickets to see JJ Grey and MOFRO in Baltimore! My friend introduced me about a week ago and I fell in love. I cannot wait for this concert!
i love this song... reminds me of my hometown, wrightsville beach, north carolina.... before the dawson's creek, one tree hill, migration of yankees....
i love this song... reminds me of my hometown, wrightsville beach, north carolina.... before the dawson's creek, one tree hill, migration of yankees....
@ladygagaspenis Because it's great music about real life and not some hip hop bullshit that you listen to. Don't even say you don't, cause if you don't like this you obviously don't like rock, blues, country, funk, or soul. Learn how to spell and get out of the 2nd grade before you post something negative about music you know nothing about. Fucking TURD!
@Chadder44 Those bands are fine but have a indie back round but Progressive (Prog) bands like Porcupine Tree, The Flower Kings, Transatlantic, Dream Theater That's where the talent lies! Rush,Yes,Camel,Can Etc.
I've been a fan of music for about 25 years. My favorite bands are Tool, Rage Against the Machine, Alice in Chains, Mad Season, Blind Melon, and System of a Down. I also like some older stuff from Sabbath to the Beatles. In my life I have never been able to answer the question, "What is your favorite song of all time?" I never thought one song could stand out far enough from the thousands of other songs that I love to be called my "favorite". Lochloosa is the greatest song ever written.
This song tugs on the heartstrings. I'm not from Florida, but grew up on the river at a place my grandfather bought in the early 60's on Logan Martin in Alabama. It was left to my parents in 2000. 8 years later, due to my stepdad being layed off, and after 50 years of being in the family, they had to sell, and there was nothing I could do to stop it. This song gives me the inspiration to do whatever it takes to get it back one day. Back in the family where it belongs! I won't rest till I do.
i'm gonna read/discuss this song for my public speaking class and enlighten my sorry ass classmates to whats up! favorite modern band by far... anyone else automatically wanna start singin Dirtfloorcracker when this song ends? :)
This songs speaks the truth "All we need is another developer to rip our heart out" protect the land that has taken care of us for many years, protect so she can continue to take care of us, love your mother, mother earth.
I put this jam on my way to swamp in the morning when chasing waterfowl.... I can't get enough Mofro. Brings me back to Florida everytime I hear this, every album these guys put out hits home. Still can't Brighter Days in my opinion though.
this song just makes my heart sink to think that were on the verge of losing EVERYTHING. florida and all the other gulf coast states are in alot of trouble. the gulf is one of the most diverse ecosystem in the world and now big oil has to take that away from us. I honestly dont know what im going to do when the oil hits my area its a sad sad time for america..
Wish more people would listen, it might just open there eyes? Never have enjoyed a better sight than launching my boat in Charlotte harbour at 6 am and watching the sun come up on my way fishing. Therapy for the soul. Tell a friend about Mofro.
I grew up in the place they are singing about. Amazingly small place, 5 families are the heart and soul of it and to this day they are all still there. Makes me home sick every time I listen to this song.. WELL DONE!!
Mofro is amazing... i love them... if you dont love florida after seeing them, I don't know what to say....florida rocks...eff BP and gated communities...
@DocFarnoff Hey dude...im shrooming right now so what you wrote and this song at the same time really got to my heart...I just want to let you know...you can make home everyplace that you go to...just be happy for life and really enjoy and understand the beauty in it...great positive mind set brings good people to your life and thats how you really create home whatever you like... freedom is the oxygen of the soul :) enjoy the moment be happy and go with the flow of life...you will
@Moffin001 We are one person and one place so you are correct all places are home. However I have been surrounded by a thick veil of forgetfulness since my incarnation on this plane. After fifty plus years of life, my unique purpose is still mostly unknown to me. This veil is beginning to slowly become translucent. I have brief daily glimpses of my guardians and jailers. As JJ longs for home I long to see my true self not a construct that others have created for me.
