  • This happened one day last summer here in Fayetteville NC. Except it was a beautiful sunny day, all of a sudden it got cloudy very fast. Being from NYC,my experiences with severe weather are quite few. Suddenly doors here started flapping and banging in the wind, lawn chairs and everything that wasn't attached to something, started blowing towards us and the fence.lasted for about 10 min. Was very bizarre, and what I'd imagine was merely a fragment the strength of a what a true tornado.would be.

  • It goes to show you tornados are not the only thing to worrie about during a severe thunder storm just straight line winds and even dowmbursts can cause enough damage.

  • Are the winds 70 mph or less?

  • at 1:15 that sky is beautiful

  • It doesn't take much wind to flip some dumpsters, especially if one is near a building where compression or wind-tunnel effect is occurring.

  • It doesn't look like any more than about 60 mph at that location. It looks like the roofing paper was old and rotten the way it crumbled up and disintegrated as it blew off. This is what happens when roofing paper is not regularly replaced in a timely manner before it rots. If it wasn't rotten, it would not have blown off. The guy in the video had no problem standing perfectly upright too.

  • @cape6000jkg If you watch the wind flips over one of those giant heavy metal trash dumpsters end over end so that takes some strong wind. When the guy was outside the strong gust was already over, it only lasted for 15 seconds then was over. But, yes the roof was made of cheap materials.

  • Stay inside you idiot!!!!!!!

  • I would love to have a parachute - put it on and pull the cord !

  • 0:19 holy crap!

  • man you got some good footage

  • that store clerk is hilarious, he comes outside and stands there while debris shoots around his head! Now thats really smart:)

  • Power Outage On Texas

  • Mayby it's just me but if you hear a loud boom like something falling on the roof, and then seen peices of the roof flying by.............

    Shouldn't you hide ?

  • whoahh that was rod!!!

  • ok the guy parked at :14 would have had his car destroyed at :20 if he had not moved it :D

  • What the hell was that roof made of? Cardboard???

  • @Haggismaker lol ikr

  • HAHA' What a Mess' at Least i Dont Own That Building.

  • Bloody hell! Thats one hell of a derecho!

  • oh man, I miss Texas storms. I used to live down in Corpus Christi (about 30 years ago) and I still remember how wicked the storms were. Constant lightning and low dark clouds. I slept like a baby when it rained.

  • 1:18; How many hours is that?

  • nao tenho coragem de morar no texas nao viu, ou melhor, nao tenho coragem de morar em nenhum lugar dessas bandas ai, nem estados unidos america do norte em geral, eu nao tenho coragem, sò tem dessas coisas e morro de medo.

  • I'm inlove with this video. What's the difference between a downburst and microburst??? Or is there? Keep it up!!!!

  • Никогда не выкладывайте на крышу картон! Лучше шифер или железо!

  • EPIC EPIC EPIC ! ! !

  • HOLY F#$K!!!.... what is that guy doing still working in weather like that?!

  • I had to laugh at that store clerk. He was more concerned about his store than the storm. Powerlines flashing and shit. LOL!

  • Freakin scary weather!

  • @MrFahadtaher Yeah - great footage!! Glad someone was filming the awesome storm and wind damage!!

  • @100xines According to Ultimate Chase website it was around 105 mph.

  • It has nothing to do with material, when you get 100 mph winds you gonna get roof damage.

  • @longbeach225 Yup. it will find a minute weakness, that all roofs have. and exploit it. even if this store had hurricane straps. it woudl have at least torn some paper

  • the builder did a bad job.

  • This downburst, is it the same as a tornado or just a sudden gust of wind? Looked scary as hell & the guy that pulled out the parking lot did so in just the nick of time!!

  • @cwazmann1 well a tornado is is air rusihing into it. extreme low pressure. damage /blown down trees point to the tornado. , downbursts/microbursts, air in essence ggoes straight down to ground and out in all directions

  • God sneezed

  • "Clean-up in all aisles. Parking lot too..."

  • Being a Californian, I am scared sh*tless of tornadoes... earthquakes I can handle, but tornadoes are INTENSE man.

  • Roof made of paper?

  • Damned, this gust was severe oO

  • well this is what happens when you live in the plains, totally flat land, nothing to adsorb the winds

  • fantastic colors in this clip.

  • Do you Americans make your roofs out of cardboard?

  • "That was nothing, just down drafts and micro bursts..." (From the movie Twister)

Tell that to the insurance company! Hope no one was hurt...heck of a sight caught on camera!

  • OMG wtf

  • "There will be a 50 percent off sale of all perishable items in the store for the next thirty minutes."

  • at :45 close call with wood to camera

  • I remember we had straight line winds like this when my mom went to the store and a fucking giant sheet metal roof almost came down on her in her car, scary shit

  • Wasn't much to this wind. Some minor roof damage.

  • lol the indian guy is like Oh just like home

  • The store manager is still in his cage- protecting the money!

  • @Freddykid123

no its called a downburst .. one of the weirdest easily observable meteorological phenomenons

    it happen in cumulonimbus chouds.

warm air gets suddenly cooled by the water inside the cloud

making it denser resulting of the air literally falling down from the cloud and smashing to the ground

it happened to me once... was driving in on a relatively calm day but with gray sky.. when suddenly the roof of my citroen 2cv was blown away

    scary moments :s

  • hahaha stupid indian paki guy didnt ever see no thunder storm before

  • damn... that air conditioner nearly squished you ^.^

  • hand me a kite and a 400 pound weight belt and ill have some fun.. btw great quality

  • @jerbod2 Thanks !

  • holly molly

  • June 1rst?

  • @jackthemaster101 YES !

  • @UltimateChase MY Birthday

  • Scary!

  • wow that garage roof is like made ouit of wet cardboard

  • I don't know which is scarier downburst or microburst

  • @Silverhedgehog1000 Well a microburst is a type of downburst as is macroburst...but in any case you definitely don't want one of those knocking on your door. A truly amazing display of the Earth's power!

  • THAT NOT FUNNY PEOPLE. It's scary

  • check out my high winds video of a full on assualt of leaves.. 2 parts

  • As good as any tornado video I've seen. Good job..and timing. *****five star

  • @TommyJoebowers1tycoo that wasn't a tornado.

  • u mean u chased cardboard.... LOL!

  • The amount of lightning in that storm at the end!!!

  • With a damaged or missing roof like this, you're not happy to be confronted by heavy rains just after it happens - which it looks like was coming, at the end of the video.

  • you can see the clerk inside looking around trying to figure out where all that noise is coming from as his roof is being demolished...

  • LOL, that dude just stood in the middle of a gustnado!

  • @SlimBoyArcadeFire

The trash can toppled over and the cardboard went flying.

  • 0:35-0:37- Jesus christ! The power line got snapped!

  • 0:41 that guy is like #WTF

  • We had this happen in Northwest Florida in December, except it wasn't the roof. It was the bricks on the side of an apartment building.

  • WOW

  • Crazy!! I saw similar one in Poland, last year in july 23rd :) What was the wind speed?

  • Comment removed

  • Oooo, yes, this is a really extreme microburst. Very good and spectacular capture, I like this video very much, is amazing.

  • Excellent video, you were there just in time to get that major footage.

  • i like how people mistake a wall cloud when its a shelf cloud.

i hear a shelf cloud is a warning of a derecho, squall line, gust front, outflow boundry.

  • Awesome video!! Love the flying debris.

  • Powerful winds!!

  • Nice capture.. one of them things that you have to be in the right place or at least know where the strong wind is gonna be at

  • INSANE VIDEO !!!!!
