  • I wouldn't say collins didn't have a punch. He had a 60% knock out ratio

  • Where#s the objectivitty of Harry Carpenter? Collins may have lost but he certainly won the last 5,

  • Apparently Marrvin bollocked at at 7

  • from here on in here becomes I rish Tinke5r legend.

  • Collins circling Mccallum from the outside not the best strategy here giving Mccallum punching room. Only hope was to rough mccallum inside.

Mccallum despite looking kind of tall and slight for his weight class really a strong guy with a great chin. This fight and his total destruction of Michael Watson proof of what a great fighter he was.

  • Thanks for putting this up.

    Great quality.

  • McCallum beat Steve Collins, who later would hold two victories each from Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank. too bad the body snatcher never got a chance to faced Michael Nunn. Toney took advantage of fighting an old Mike.

  • Awesome upload Smiley!:) These two are among my favorite boxers ever.

  • Hagler, Leonard, Duran, Hearns, Nunn etc showned no interest in fighting McCallum. Why? Its obvious - there was a very real risk of losing and losing without a massive pay cheque. Toney and Roy Jones fought him when he was way past his best. McCallum was never stopped either - very rare for a world champion.

  • You understand it perfectly! Finally someone with some boxing sense! I absolutely agree that The Fab Four ducked McCallum because they knew how good he was and and they would most likely lose. Of the four, I think Leonard would give him the toughest fight, what do you think?

  • @painesvillesandman c'mon we all respect Mccallum as a fighter and its true Hearns and Duran avoided him when he was a mandatory but that was to secure bigger paydays elsewhere and not cos they feared mccalum. By 1987 Mike Mccallums fights were being shown on UK national prime time TV. He was on the verge of superstardom when he beat curry. But he blew it losing to Sumbu Kalambay and even when he beat herol graham it was 2 close to suggest mccallum was true superstar level.

  • Another great post, Collins showed the character in this fight that would eventually lead him to middleweight and super middleweight titles. Mccallum extremely difficult to beat, underrated champion, should have made more money.

  • @thearns1 For real son...

  • It was a clean KO. Sibson floored Minter, with a left hook midway through the third round, then finished him with a right to the head.

  • More great post by you Smiley. BTW, what happened when Tony Sibson stopped Alan Minter? Was it on cuts or a clean KO? You don't have that fight do you?
