@Camaromandave98 They would need to take the wing and front ground affect off though. With both on, the car can push 1000 pounds on down force on its self. With that shit off, it should do a lot better on the straights although vipers are slow on their 5th gear usually. That and the ACR is meant to destroy on the track, not the drag strip. But still would love to see it open up!

@ohai2u For 1/4mi I can almost guarantee the M3 will be faster in D (automatic) than S (sequential/manual), as the electronic knows exactly at what rpm to change gear, so you never bounce of the limiter, nor shift early/late and miss the power band. Now ... given it's tuned, it might very well be that they did not consider re-programming the DCT with new power bands and it might even be that you want to change the gear ratios a bit to match the engine power band.

Yeah, I'm a 2009 Corvette owner and I gotta give it to this Bimmer driver. That was a hellified start with over 700 horses. But I do think the Vette driver needs to spend more seat time in that car launching it. He should easily have started the same and not had to play catch up.

I don't know if you guys noticed, but both these cars are rated at 700 horsepower or more. That means they are not stock. That means these petty arguements over Corvette VS M3 are ridiculous. The Corvette is a 2 seater sports car that weighs much less than the 4 seater BMW. They don't really compare.

But I am going to say they are both real wheel drive which means the Corvette driver really sucked and the M3 driver kicked ass at least off the line.

@lawsonmahoney Smartest comment on this discussion thus so far... The Z06 is ave 3100lbs, The e92 V8 M3 coupe weight is a staggering 3700lbs. The 2012 M3 is going back to I6 motor with a twin turbo that makes 500hp stock. That will bring the weight back down a bit closer to the predecessor E46 I6 M3s that weight 3300lbs, and easily down to a z06 weight 3000lbs w/ back seats removed. I LOVE the CSL M3 with all 4 seats and STILL managed to be lighter then a corvette z06!
