  • I was in the Army stationed at Weeton, just outside Blackpool in 1966/67. The Dolphin Bar was a must at weekends. Brian Rossi was the compere. The DJs from Radio Caroline Pirate station would visit when they were ashore. Aahh, memorable days !!!

  • @buttybags Hi there, Thanks for the comment. Jimmy Rose and I did the summer season at the Dolphin in 1966. We performed two shows each lunchtime and 2 shows every night, 7 days a week through the whole some. Good times !!

  • very good song.. and nice guitar too..

  • Hello Pete, Thanks for watching. Please tell Jimmy "hello". It's been quite a while since I was home. It's about time I made a visit to the Plough. Also thanks for the comment on the new CD. Hoping to see you all soon, Philip.

  • Thank you for watching the video. I wrote this song about 15 years ago and always enjoy playing and singing it, Philip.

  • A wonderfully evocative song. Thank you for posting this little gem - one that I'm sure many people in the North of England will connect with. 5 stars from me.

  • Thank you Ricardo for your comments. I'm sure there was a "Dolphin Bar" in everyone's life at some point, a place full of excitement, great music and good friends, Philip.

  • Part 2:

Glad to see the Dolphin Bar days stayed in your memory so long and prompted you to write this wonderful song. We eventually bought the Dolphin Bar as you know but sadly Brian died in 1984 R.I.P..We will see you soon Phil. Brian Rossi's Wife and Daughter, PAT & TAMARA XX

  • Thanks Pat and Tamara. Over the years that the Dolphin Bar was open many people from all over the world had the pleasure of visiting there. They would listen to "Danny Boy, Ghost Riders in the sky", see trumpet players, watch fire eaters and listen to the many comedians who graced the stage. Philip

  • and The Paragon Banjo Band every Sunday Lunch - with a very young me :0)

    Pete

  • I bet you didn't have an electric banjo back then, Philip.

  • no need in them days there must have been 8-10 banjo's in the band, enough to scare the bravest of men... lol

  • Part 1:

    Hi Phil

This is Pat & Tamara Rossi here!

Its so nice to hear a song written that brings back all the memories of Brian's Dolphin Bar days. He certainly packed the place out 7 afternoons and 7 nights. You had to queue early to get a seat, as the doors were closed at 6pm due to the large crowds that travelled from all over the world just to see him! He certainly knew how to fill a venue!

    cont......

  • I actually visited The Dolphin Bar years ago. Thanks so much for taking the time to insure that this famous vacation haunt lives on in perpetuity. You are a fabulous guitarist, and your songs are very unique. One of my favorites on Fisherman Of Fleetwood CD is The Red Falcon.
