In my opinion, they concentraded on predator way too much. There is never late to change concept on the creature and make it more than just simple bug. I mean that original Alien was not about bunch of dumb monsters which runs towards fire like having no brain. Cmerons movie changed the concept so why could not AVP-R change this concept again?+they could have developed predaliwn more, all in all it's new character in movie franchise but instead of that they made it as supporting character.
This movie sucked. The acting was probably the worst that I've seen in any Alien, Predator, or AvP movie. The action was ok, but that's all that's really OK about it. The lighting was the worst part to me. You couldn't see what was going on 3/4 of the time. If they do make an AvP 3 (which I know they probably will), it'll probably be as crappy as AvP and AvPR.

i agree with you about the teenagers but it was like the story introduced all these human characters & it felt like the directors or writers of this story thought we had to get to know the ins and outs of EACH character down to their love interests, where they worked, what time they punched in to work, how they got along with their families, and on and on. All this backstory on characters that weren't even pivitol to the story. Useless info on humans, and I was so tired of them. ALL of them.
This movie sucked in that previous movies, including AvP 1, made an effort to ensure that the events happening in those movies was unknown to the general world population.
Here however the city got nuked and no amount of coverup can hide that.

Hi, im comment on your avp1 review. I agree with most of what your saying except for...The story line wasn't that bad, its was a pretty typical comic book storyline which was appropriate. The acting wasn't amazing, but wasn't crap either. Biggest issue, predators look crap, they're too big and over muscular, dreadlocks look like rubber, looked way better in predator 1, Aliens are revealed too much, spoiling what makes Aliens scary in the first place.

I feel that now-a-days far too many movies even AVP1 are way too family friendly and this film is relentless. The aliens are pure evil killing children, homeless, and even showing the brutality of the government in FEMA scenerios.
Furthermore, I thought it was a FUN movie. Interesting characters, suspense, it reminded me of an good old 90's horror as opposed to most of the other garbage out there these days.

Actually the predalian didnt kill all the predators. only the part ejected from the main ship. which makes me think that the predators might have let the predalian live on purpose. Since obviously the predators can see inside peoples bodies, so it wouldn't make sense for them to survive

Great review, just one nitpick. Those are not Marines in the film. They are national guard troops. Sometimes known as "weekend warriors". They are nowhere near as well trained as Marines. The movie "First Blood" has some good scenes involving these type of guys.

i agree with you on all points bar a few (SFX were okay-good at best, Pred Homeworld scene was great) the score (if you listen to it stand-alone) is actually great and the story/script (writer Shane Salerno to blame not the directors). All in all a good review. I thought the film was a hell of a lot better than Anderson's trash, which is all i ever wanted.

In an interview I read, one of the strausses complained how Fox really cut down their budget, forcing them to nix alot of potential scenes and effects. It was a 40 million dollar movie so I thought that they did as good a job as they could considering the chaos that ran rampant throughout the production of the film. And the unrated cut supposed to fix some stuff up so that's hopeful news.
It will, I think you guys over in England get more stuff than over here. Why is it that studios always give people outside the states more stuff while we have to go on amazon or ebay just to get our hands on it?

i have to say, AVPR was way better than AVP, this movie just had 2 flaws for me
1. like you said, this movie focused on the teenagers way too much (i paid to see AVP, not Dawson's Creek!)
2. the fight scene got cut short...sure the fight was almost over anyway...but they should've let the creatures kill each other, the send out the nuke
but other than that, it was way better than AVP

First of all you sound weird and you can barely be heard.When you want to make a video previewing a movie you are supposed to say stuff more clearly and louder.So that people will actually sit down and watch the video.And second the whole thing's too misleading...look at that:

OMG...how can you be so light on the film. the acting, the plot, the cgi-it was all TERRIBLE. even the action and horror which is all that the movie could depend on were extremely dissapointing. i cant believe how refined the first avp looks compared to this. im actually going to go watch the woman running slow mo with her predator hubby instead of this!

Actually the predalian didnt kill all the predators. only the part ejected from the main ship. which makes me think that the predators might have let the predalian live on purpose. Since obviously the predators can see inside peoples bodies, so it wouldn't make sense for them to survive

.. before setting off self destruct, Danny Glover anyone??!! I could go on&on... As for the CGI, it was pretty damn good compared to alot of recent big budget movies i've seen, I am Legend to name one! As action horrors go, it's not the worst i've seen, but it doesn't hold a candle to Aliens, or the first Predator. We've seen it all before, and done better by Scott, Cameron, Ficher, Jeunet, McTiernan & Hopkins.. This Franchise needs a complete make over!!!

Predator, PredAlien slicing the Predator's hand off...

Honestly, the whole AvP franchise is the best example of movies made for the low brow MTV generation - and the worst thing is that Alien and Predator are still unmatched in being the crarriest monsters in the history of motion picture, yet the young generation learns it from such hapless piece of garbage - outrageous!

Great review, just one nitpick. Those are not Marines in the film. They are national guard troops. Sometimes known as "weekend warriors". They are nowhere near as well trained as Marines. The movie "First Blood" has some good scenes involving these type of guys.

i thought the movie was definatly better than the first cuz it had alot more of blood and better action scenes. it was fun to watch the homages where great. im hopeing to buy the "extreme unrated" version soon cuz i heard it has shit load of special features

i agree with you on all points bar a few (SFX were okay-good at best, Pred Homeworld scene was great) the score (if you listen to it stand-alone) is actually great and the story/script (writer Shane Salerno to blame not the directors). All in all a good review. I thought the film was a hell of a lot better than Anderson's trash, which is all i ever wanted.

That line- "what were you expecting"- bugs me the most. The reason why we keep on getting sh1t AVP films from these people is because they agree, too. Here's a thought: Alien could have been a B movie. It wasn't, because Ridley Scott didn't treat it like one. Same goes for Predator; it could have been nothing but an Arnold vehicle if McTiernan treated it like one. This was crap because that's all they aspired for. As for the rest of your review, I respectfully- and vehemently- disagree.

In an interview I read, one of the strausses complained how Fox really cut down their budget, forcing them to nix alot of potential scenes and effects. It was a 40 million dollar movie so I thought that they did as good a job as they could considering the chaos that ran rampant throughout the production of the film. And the unrated cut supposed to fix some stuff up so that's hopeful news.
