The Heisler is my favorite geared engine, but I find the Climaxes to be both pains in the neck, yet very neat to watch and hear. They're pretty cool locomotives if you're willing to put up with the bouncing at medium-high speeds.
They have my favorite climax. I have only been able to see it once(I only live 3 hours away from it too) and I have never riden behind it since they don't run it much. However I love watching it on videos.
Clark's Trading Post in New Hampshire has the more familiar climax to me. They also have an operating heisler. All the need know is that old shay to run which only sees the light of day once a year. I've been to Durbin twice, But nine hours is a lot longer than two!
Is Durbin narrow guage?

Great video! The climax is my favorite type of gearded locomotive.

The Shay would have to be mine. I'd love to go to the Mt.Rainier scenic railroad sometime to see their climax. Thank's for watching!
