I'm not too sure if I got it right. I read from somewhere that after the mission in Singapore, the Japanese prosecuted many locals believing that they sabotaged the ships instead of The Cockleshell Heroes.
@gepardlee Could very well be - possibly, depending on the level of resistance the locals were putting up, the attack might have been seen as a good political excuse to do away with perceived native "troublemakers".
