My male does this all the time. We walk him three times a day and feed him well, I think it might just be something to do with the temperment or breed. they are very high energy dogs. He's so much fun to play with when he's like this though!

My Shiba used to do that all the time. It means your dog needs to be walked more. Once I started taking mine on longer walks he calmed down. (To the hyper equivelant of any other dog) :-P

mine does it, but luckily i have the room out front for her to do it there. she is such a good dog she just sits in the front yard, so i work on the car with her around sometimes. one time i look up from doing some breaks to her as a blur circling the the car, a tree, and the neighbors car and tree.

yup, my Zooey 'barrel races' as i call it whenever i'm trying to get her to come in at night or when she smells another dog walking past our house. her tail goes into a question mark type shape (without the dot) & she runs as fast as her little feet will take her in a course around the back yard lol

Ah, this looks familiar! My Shiba Inu does this whenever he pees or does a poopie in the house and we catch him. He does this sprint and then hides under the bed and when we go to get him out, he has the audacity to growl and bark to tell us to go away.

when Bear, my almost 1 year old shiba, hasn't had enough exercize, he gets what we call, the "zoomies" or does the "shiba 500." he will sprint from the front of the house to the back, leap off the couch @ full speed. if we can grab him as he runs by we let him calm down before taking him out. that, or we just get out of the way. :P

I have a golden retriever who will do this if you get her hyper, generally just before we head out for a walk, she puts her back end down and races in and out all the rooms, sooo much energy. She does it in the garden as well as manic back rolling after I hose her down... well can't complain it gets her dry. Your dog is gorgeous btw.

I think it's wierd but good excercise. It must be a quirk in the breed, when they get overexcited they run. I never had any other dog do that.
