I don't know, I would assume, I would prefer he does that rather than kill him, so maybe in the future they can do a movie, where zod somehow gets his real body back, than they have to really fight.

maybe zod is better than clark, but zod's physical body was destroyed, only his spirit and mind lives in the phantom zone. unless he can get another body with kryptonian powers. until than clark is still there

True, but if Clark makes preparations, has a plan, and is calm while Zod is blinded by his own hate then Clark has chance. Though Clark doesn't seem to know it, there have go to be some tools or weapons in the Fortress of Solitude he can use. Nobody is invincible.
