@encouragerbygrace the beg is a recording of a newsreel soundtrack in Paris like a prade or something.... it says on the inside of the cassette.. if you have it? i remember reading it when i was a kid.
Thanks for this track - this is still one of PSB's best. Even in 2011 it sounds up to date, modern, fresh and sexy - love it! Beautiful music. I remember getting the Introspective album back in '88 or '89, whenever it was....WOW. Sounds good now. Imagine what it sounded like back then, 23 years ago!!?
Thank you for posting this 1988 dance classic - Still Relevant Today - am also an Eighth Wonder fan but this version is superior musically and for the feeling PSB give it and make it their own! DAVEDJ
Gay young men were bit and one of them took a bullet from a bunch of Gay Haters in São Paulo, Brazil, a few days ago. I'd like to sing this song for the boys who suffered the violence. Guys don't be scared. You'll prevail. Fight for it!
The dancing was great when they did this in concert. I always thought it was "Oh take these darts away from me" (as in needles). I now think this is about dogs in the city ... humans.... I think I'm understanding better the many references to "dogs".
i used to just relax and lay on my bed with this in my boom box or my walkman on cassette.i loved the introspective album, all my friends were starting to listen to rap like public enemy and 2 live crew and i always listened to pet shop boys because their music was so pleasent and neils voice was also so clear.psb have out lasted a lot of music acts from the 1980s.i hope they never go away.their music is eternal.
There are so many masterpieces by Pet Shop Boys that it is out of this worldly...When I listen to this, I say yes this is their true masterpiece but the same goes for Always On My Mind, Being Boring, This must be the Place that I waited years to leave, Left To My Own Devices, Minimal, The Way It Used to be, King's Cross...oh God...
This song reminds me of when I was 19. Having always been a night owl, I was eager for the night, so I'd go dancing and dance my blues away. New Order, Kylie Minogue, Taylor Dayne, Bananarama, Sinitta, Swing Out Sister, Technotronic, a bit of Acid House... I miss it all so bad!
I cannot believe there were people like me at that time, I was 15 but I was developing to be a night owl myself and listening to all new order great groups but it was Instrospective my first album that got me sucked in completely into PSB. Thank you for making me recall my adolescence
@MrStuckinthe70s Stop............you're gonna make me cry! I still listen to all of the artists that you mentioned and still love it like it was 25 years ago. If people accuse me of living in the past, fine; it's a hell of a lot better than current times.
So do I. At least we both have great things to remember. Don't cry. Always let those songs set you up. I forgot to mention Rick Astley and Sonia. Take care.
Reminds me of my days of youth, somehow the song captured my feeling of sadness, style and desperation! A beautiful melody, real composion, great symphonic dance, inspirational, grand and fine.
you're always telling lies and that's the only truth...tonight the streets are full of actors...oh, take these dogs away from me...before they...they bite...what have you got to hide...who will it compromise...I'd go anywhere...I don't care...baby...I'm not scared...
This is quite possibly the ultimate PSB song. From 4:13 when they pick the tune up again and right through the repeated chorus has always been one of the most euphoric moments in pop for me.
The strings in the beginning and at 4:13 sound so sad to me. I bought this cd in October 1988 when it came out. It reminds me of a better time in music. Chris said one time that he likes "sad" dance music---well, this is it.
There are so many PSB masterpiece songs especially from the 80's. They are the pioneers of synthpop and the main reason I got into synthesizers. I am 32 (the same age Niel Tennant was in the mid 80's)...and I feel their music still kicks ass of all the modern artists today.
Please, Actually, Introspective and all the extended dance remixes are my history. Only PSB can have such amazing extended remixes. Most other artists in the 80's made cheesy remixes.

Music positive, full of energy, lyrics quite sad and negative.
A beautiful mix, one of my favourite albums ever.
