I agree, however I live in Dallas and have gone to a couple of the farmers markets here and what I found was that hardly any of the people selling produce are actual farmers. They are just people who buy at wholesale and resell at way above retail prices for non-organic food. For me the farmers markets around here are a turnoff and a ripoff. I would LOVE to support a REAL farmer and a local person is even better but I just don't see that happening around here.
@texasnewf Wow! That is crazy. Where I live I just go to my neighbor and buy/trade from him/her the things I cannot produce myself. Farmers markets are only for the city.
And Farmer's Market in not more expensive, large bunches of organic parsley and cilantro are a dollar each, at supermakets non-organic are more, all large bunches of greens are 2.00 and organic tomatoes and peppers by weight about 2.50 per pound.
I always shop for produce and fish at the Farmer's Markets and only from certified Organic producers, many are not organic and use commercial fertilazers so we have to be very careful
of those, not everyone at Farmer's Market is reliable, thaere is also a lot of chemical laden food just sold directly. I always ask to see the certificate that it is organic with no chemical fertilizers or sprays. Many tell me straight that they use chemicals and here raw milk unfortunately is not allowed
I really appreciate your attitude!
