I think it's worth mentioning that they ruined Joker's face in the New Animated Adventures. They also made Commissioner Gordon look as if he'd lost his dentures.
I remember The Last Laugh for it's music alone. It was so out of place for a Batman show, yet at the same time, it belonged. And it was glorious. Also, Captain Clown scared the fuck out of me as a child. No clue why
My favorite moment with the Joker, is in ,"Mask of the Phantasm", where after a run-down theme park's robots start sining an annoying song, they are shot full of bullets until they all break. The Joker then enters, throws down his gun and says cooly, "I hate that song." Says every thing you need to know about the Joker in that one scene. The Perfect Joker to me, is the one that you laugh with, even though you know, you really shouldn't.
You never that theme in the Last laugh ever again after this episode....the Joker never has those henchmen again....and he never wears a glass bubble to protect himself, heh
"What you don't get is that there's more than one way to actually 'get' someone." That was one of his coolest lines I think. The joker is awesome; He's a gangster, but is unlike any other gangster he's not neccesarily motivated by money or even sense. It's all a joke to him.
You know that laughing gas really does make you laugh, it's just that the people that use it for anesthetic dilute it to an appropriate point. But although it does cause laughing, it is actual an immediate side effect of brain damage being caused by the fumes. Laughing gas is no laughing matter!
Unless of course you have a complete disregard of human life like the Joker.
You can't pull off a good caper without having a kickass soundtrack to go with it! LOL HAHAHAHAHA!!! GIVE IT THE OL HEEVE HOO CAPTIAN! Oh no...looks like Batmans air holes are water holes too...whata shame....hehehehehahahahaa!!!
@Sener yeah, i have that episode from "batman: the new batman adventures" but on wikipedia: joker, it says that an episode shows the joker (before he was joker) with a gang of people were foiled by the batman and he fell into the chemical bath
...or is that in "the creeper"? i know the two shows are related but i would appreciate if you confirm
@BlackvilleGrave33 I believe the actual episode was Season 4 episode "Mad Love" the one in "The Creeper" is a dramatization, the "Mad Love" one is what really happened.
Please, please.... can you perhaps upload the themes for "Riddler's Reform", "If You'Re So Smart Why Aren't You Rich?", "The Man Who Killed Batman", "The Clock King"," "Heart Of Ice".....? I've been looking to buy the BTAS soundtrack -everywhere-, but I can't find it at all!!
I once kept whistling that for the better part of a day. It'd be funny, if it weren't so pathetic...oh what the heck, I'll laugh anyway....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Animated Joker and Batman were the best Joker and Batman, on their own as well as together. The only thing I didn't like about the series was the fact that there weren't many Joker v. Batman episodes since this wasn't that big of a series :*(

@henkman00 Bruce Timm regreted not doing a Wonder Woman show before doing Justice League cause a lot of her origin and character had to be changed to fit the format of Justice League.
I didn't love his look, the hair was entertaining tho. But his lines and just overall characterization and actions were closer to the comics. The clayface thing was nearly identical to what he was trying to do to Gordon in the killing Joke. The relationship between Joker and Bat's was much better too. in TAS they were just good guy bad guy and nothing else, in The Batman the two sides of the same coin thing was highly examined and even brought right out in more than one episode.
im not sure about that. (i watched 30 episodes of The Batman until i had enough) in the killing joke he wants to show Gordon that anyone can go mad after a bad day. but its been to long since i saw the episode you speak of to remember if they did that story i dont remember thinking that.
i do agree that TAS could have taken it a step further (and they did in the Beyond movie-and he did cause horror looks on victims with his laughing gas) but i dont agree that 'monkey' Joker did.
In the episode he seriously sayd all it takes is one bad day ect ect. Monkey Joker did leave victims with the horror grins, but The Batman just had bat's cure some of them. I just don't think Dini really ever understood the relationship that well. Joker always wanted to kill bats in TAS, in the modern comics and in The Batman, it's much more demented and just evil. Wanting to prove him wrong and such. They had Ledger sum that up in the integration scene
Paul Dini? funny he writes the Batman comics and is one of my fav writers. also Dini and Timm may have got some restrictions on the Joker from DC or WB or from the channel that aired TAS back then. and they did a fine job, i do feel Joker became more menacing as time (and shows) went by
well you cant really compare modern comics with 90s TAS. save perhaps that TAS used the basic ideas. TAS Joker fits in nicely with every version of the character. 'monkey' Joker falls out of the box.
idt so, Dini had Joker do some cool things, but I don't think he ever saw beyond the good guy bad guy relationship. The WB was the channel that both the shows ran on and he was certainly more toned down in both, but the motivation was more true in the batman.
about that the characters never change. i watched the Batman and Superman movie and played Arkham Asylum last year and even when they aren't canon to the DCAU they could have been seeing the DCAU the movie and game use the comics as source material. i hope i made my point about this clear. do these characters right and you already have the DCAU in some form because that was what Bruce Timm was doing. The Batman was just a version of Batman not -ironically- about THE Batman
I like how they didn't play his theme doesn't play in any of the title cards, it just plays at certain parts of certain episodes, with different instruments every time; It's so quick sometimes: It's the song that plays at 2:41, 3:55, and that ends the video starting at 4:13.
That's actually well pointed out, even while I was collecting the music and screen caps to make this video I didn't notice that they never used his theme in any of the title cards. Shirley had a great time writing music for joker, there are so many different themes...the joker fish theme, the last laugh theme, joker's favor, joker's wild... all different musical themes.
I'm sorry if I already answered but I don't think I did. Anyway these tracks come from the official soundtrack released a little while ago. It quickly sold out, and it only has the score for a few episodes.
Thanks for posting this. I always loved the joker's little flute theme. I've been whistling it all day since I watched this. Guess it never hurts to carry a piece of your childhood around with you.
Why does the sound quality seem to change so much at 4:15? Was it taken from a different source?

about that the characters never change. i watched the Batman and Superman movie and played Arkham Asylum last year and even when they aren't canon to the DCAU they could have been seeing the DCAU the movie and game use the comics as source material. i hope i made my point about this clear. do these characters right and you already have the DCAU in some form because that was what Bruce Timm was doing.

Sorry if you already knew that.

That's actually well pointed out, even while I was collecting the music and screen caps to make this video I didn't notice that they never used his theme in any of the title cards. Shirley had a great time writing music for joker, there are so many different themes...the joker fish theme, the last laugh theme, joker's favor, joker's wild... all different musical themes.

yeah, where did you get this song from?
ZeroRasmus 2 years ago
I'm sorry if I already answered but I don't think I did. Anyway these tracks come from the official soundtrack released a little while ago. It quickly sold out, and it only has the score for a few episodes.

The Joker had a bunch of awesome themes. The music from The Last Laugh is intense and perfect for good old fashioned Batman vs Joker action.

Thanks for posting this. I always loved the joker's little flute theme. I've been whistling it all day since I watched this. Guess it never hurts to carry a piece of your childhood around with you.
