I never glue these things as they go in tight when i do em. Dont know when you might need to remove the screw or simply tighten them as they get loose with time and then you just pull them like a bottle cork. Pop goes the weasel!
Seems to me like a lot of kit for nothing. I buy dowel rod by the linear foot and just cut off a little plug as needed. No need for scrap wood and set up time on the drill press.
I've never done this but I can see the problem with this being that the colour, look, grain pattern of the wood will most likely be different. In some cases not so much, in others drastically.
Bought a Diston screwdigger set as I wanted to hide screws in a pine project I was working on. Whenever I try a cut plug out of a piece of scrap the plug cutter turns it to mush. I just get a lump of flakey, crumbley pine stuck in the cutter(??)
@jamiejackson976 I also use a sharp chisel makes a neater job. however I have found that the plug cutter works fine in my 18v makita. I have the same screw digger set and they get VERY hot after 2 holes in pine windowboards

@jamiejackson976
That is probably a good way of doing it as well. I'll try that out the next time I use the kit. Thanks for the comment!

Thanks for the comment.
So you can actually cut the plug using a cordless drill as well?
ultimatehandyman 1 year ago
@ultimatehandyman yes, without a problem, i have never used a piller drill. just keep the drill straight.
